Some days the ball just doesn’t bounce our way. Just how baseball is. I’m a lil worried about DeCaro’s lack of movement in the zone as a Friday guy. Feel like Ryan may take the ball on Friday’s by the end of the year
Am I the only person that hates the run rule in college?
Ive got two gripes with today’s game
#1 - Why on gods green earth are we starting a Friday ACC game at 4 pm?
#2 - the overall sloppiness from the defense and the non-competitiveness at the plate in the early innings.

We claim to want to promote the game and have better attendance, but then we back that up with 4pm ACC games on Friday. One does not = the other.

That was about as bad of a performance as you can have, in all phases. The worrisome thing is, we had a game just like that two weeks ago against ECU.

As on/off as Jason has been.. you have to feel for Norby at ECU the guy just hasn’t had it this year at all.
Last year on this day it was like 45 degrees and windy, so I bet not scheduling for night. We could have changed the time once we saw the weather forecast though.
Yeah, can’t control the weather for sure. But, I bet if this game started at 6 or 7 it’s close to a packed house.
Other than throwing more competitive pitches, what is some things that everybody’s looking for improvement during the doubleheader tomorrow? Thanks

I don’t say that to be a smartass but that’s really how bad tonight was. Can’t pin it on any one specific thing because we got our butts whipped in all phases.
I trust the mental fortitude of this team though and their ability to bounce back tomorrow. But today was a big wake up call. This ain’t LeMoyne.
I’m going to be honest. I’ve been worried about our pitching since the beginning of the season. We fall behind in the count way too much. We have to work ahead in the count. I know our staff loves analytics. How about looking at batting averages in 0-2, 1-2 counts. There should be a race to 2 strikes.
Soft lefties have hated us for years. Hitters just need to hunt middle back. I’m not as worried about our hitting as much as our pitching.

Question for those who know? Who was the freshman who started at 2nd base vs Elon ? I admit I have not seen a lot of the heels during the week but I read post and have heard Tommy and Grace talk about double plays that should be made and they were not turned and it cost us runs . So where I am going is the freshman who started vs Elon a viral option and move Gavin back to 3rd base?
It was AJ Terry. I'm not that familiar with him so not sure how viable he is as a regular.
Consider what you're asking. Across all of NCAA D1 baseball we are ranked 34 out of over 300 teams for turning DP's, so the 11 we've turned is not really out of line even though we could have turned another 1 or 2. Then consider moving Gavin back to 3rd where we have 2 years worth of data that shows a significantly lower fielding percentage than Cooper Nicholson has currently. Then you're asking to plug in a freshman, who does look solid with the glove, but hasn't even made loud contact in limited at bats. Then, if you moved Gavin to 3rd and put AJ in the lineup you'd either take Hynek's .320+ bat out of the line up or take out Cooper Nicholson, who over the last ten games is hitting .269, with 3 HRs, and an OBP of over .440. He looks like he's making the transition from Jr college to D1 pitch recognition pretty well. He also brings the most explosive power of any hitter in our lineup. Paulsen has really good power but the ball explodes off of Nicholson's bat. I know you're just asking the question and I'm not the coach, but I'd be shocked if we made that move.
Fix the pitching; it all starts there. If Lynch sets the tone and he throws more competitive pitches, everything else will fall in line.
