That was a rough one man!

I watched it on my phone, sitting at the bar, hitting play on keno.

Other people at the bar realize when I am watching Iowa I look like I am talking to my phone.

(Bar doesn't get BTN...if the game is on any other channel they know to have any Iowa game in any sport on multiple tvs around the casino in case I need to pace)

That’s why I don’t show up until the end
Good idea.

Ava looked ghost-like pale tonite..still ill, great job with Jordan flu game echo.
Taylor Stremlow continues to be sid viscous 2.0.
Tougher than nails, clutch passer and scorer..love her.
Kylie will be missed...hustle and speed are needed..made 2 threes, drew the big charge.
Journey is so calm out there..just takes care of business...might have saved the game late w 15 footer and ft. A joy to watch.

Hannah takes so much crap from critics it's sickening. She is right up there with recent hawk stars .four long years in spotlight...she and ava really are linked at hip. She has been a key part of 4 greatest years in hawk bb.

Teams that shoot best % from arc win almost every time. Both hawks bb team beat the odds last nite and tonite...
That's coaching...Jan and Ben did a great job this season.

Right or wrong I have a different perspective on Ava’s minutes tonight. Illinois presents a very difficult matchup for us. Their guards are much quicker than ours in my opinion while Parchman and Wallace create another matchup headache. Both can play bully ball and shoot the “3”. Ava can do a lot of good things defensively around the basket but I believe not strong vs bigs who have great shooting range. We were struggling finding an answer to first keep them out of the paint and later trying to slow down their “3” shooting. Having Hanna and Journey guarding their bigs seemed to be the best choice defensively. It was tough for our coaching staff to balance Ava’s dominating offensive play vs slowing Illinois with our defense. I too want to see Ava on the floor as much as possible but coaches have to make tough decisions based on the opponent and the problems they present. Is that bad coaching? Not in my mind. Coaches make what they believe is the best decision at the moment. Easy for us, and them also, to second guess when things don’t go as we want. Bottom line—a good win for the Hawkeyes. Let’s celebrate and move on to Wisconsin.

Post game comments; damn I was concerned about this game beforehand for some reason and it turned out to be founded. If Iowa has any sort of outside shooting (or covers the corner) this is likely a 10 point win. However my kids had an absolute blast and I got to teach my son the intricacies of scolding refs from afar. Just getting home after 1 AM is not ideal but much better after watching a victory. And singing and dancing to "in heaven there is no beer" is infinitely better in person. Go Hawks!

You're finally seeing what most of us have seen all year???
Your best player only plays 23 minutes and wasn't in foul trouble.
Just some inexplicable decisions tonite...again.
Just another example of not knowing the game. Illinois was exploiting Ava on the perimeter. Houston's quickness helped. Ava had two fouls in the first, so Jan sat her also. Not sure what your issue is with Jan, but she coached the Hawks to a win over a red hot shooting Illini team. She is only getting better.

Gut check performance in a classic trap game.
Stremlow is flat out turning into the heart of this team
They feed off her energy
Heiden is Gustafson on steroids
Houston will be the next Hannah Stuelke
And for the Deal baggers....you will regret dissin her here real soon. She will figure it out
Let's not forget Woliczko next year.
Future looks bright

If Iowa loses this game...the VERY FIRST question to Jensen is why did Heiden sit on the bench for the majority of the 3rd Q?

No way to justify that.
Even though we won it still needs to be asked. 28 points in only 23 minutes and no foul trouble. I have no idea what Jan was thinking.

Ava is battling something health related, I'd put money on it. She was completely gassed in the first quarter.

The truth is going to send the Jan haters over the top.
I don't know what the **** more they could want. She's coaching a team of mostly 3-star recruits, has them sitting at 23-5 ranked #9 in the country, 14-3 and in 2nd place in the toughest WBB conference in the country. I'd love to see what she would do with a roster full of elite blue-chippers.

The drama in the game thread is so hilarious. People actually calling for our head coach who has won 46 games in her 2nd season and will probably end up at 50 by the end of the season. Get Stuelke out, malpractice that Heiden wasn’t in for 40 minutes (oh, she was sick! ) it’s just crazy.

There was a point, I believe in the 3rd Q where Iowa was trying to make a comeback, and AH was at the scorer's table waiting to enter.
Suddenly she's back on the bench and both announcers noticed and are trying to understand why she didn't enter the game?
She was unstoppable in the lane and sat for nearly 6 minutes in the 3rd.
Ava sure seemed energetic and excited in that post game interview before she left the floor.
Some of the in game decisions are certainly fair game to analyze by fans.
I don't quite get why some fans get upset that not everyone is a fan boy.
The "nonusage" of fouls ...
And many fans wanted Stremlow starting immediately after McCabe went down vs Deal starting.
How'd that end up?

Absolutely no one is bitching that AH should have played 40 minutes.
No one.
Stop making crap up.
