That freshman hasn't looked like a freshman all year and she has ice in her veins.
The usual suspects here refuse to acknowledge the obvious game mgmt issues.
The same mistakes have been happening all year...even in games they've won.
This is stuff coaches at all levels understand.
You know how Ava has been feeling? She was not well on Sunday, how do you know she isn't still a little under the weather?
Offense/defense move. Illinois’ bigs can step out and shoot 3’s. Journey and Hannah were better choices defensively you would assume. Last couple minutes Jan did straight switches. Ava in on offense, then steps out and Journey back in on D. Many coaches do that. Tonight it worked. Maybe not as well as Jan wanted but it worked. Iowa escaped a red hot Illinois team
Hit one to end first half also. Made so many in a row I could not keep track!
Tell me the last time a team did not miss a 3 point attempt in the entire second half, not to mention they made a 3 for their last shot of the 1st half and still lost! I'll hang up and listen.

Especially if Jan gets a couple of wing shooters to give her room to work.
But it would be nice to do that for an entire game.
Typically I try not to rant too hard on the turnovers, but a couple in the first half were just…. I donno, if you’re holding the ball with 2 hands maybe don’t let them pluck it out of them.

I could see her developing into a legit 3 level scorer. 9 points on 4 of 6 shooting and 8 rebounds in just 19 minutes. She was huge tonight.
2 or 3 of the turnovers late in the first were …. Pretty bad for lack of a better description.
