I don't disagree, but competition is a tiny fraction of the time spent in practice. Limited or negligible impact if requirement is only in matches, and IDK how to enforce that in practices, youth clubs, camps, etc.2) cauliflower ear. I don't care how successful the person who has it is, and that there is some badge of honor associated with it.......it is as ugly as it gets! I cannot understand why anybody would want to deform their body in this way. International organizations should require headgear in competition, and coaches and clubs should require it in practice.
It's definitely a badge of honor in the MMA community and have seen the meme (someone is instigating a fight, then they notice the other person has cauliflower ear and immediately change their tune) in real life. I went to the ENT and had mine properly drained and sewn back up. Now I wear headgear whenever I roll. Makes it more difficult to get out of triangles, but better than getting my ear cut open again. No, not at all. Nothing nice about it at all!
Wrestling is the greatest of sports, with just two blemishes, and unfortunately, they are rather large blemishes. 1) Excessive and unhealthy weight cutting (granted, it has improved greatly from when I wrestled in the late 70's early 80's and is now less common and better regulated) and 2) cauliflower ear. I don't care how successful the person who has it is, and that there is some badge of honor associated with it.......it is as ugly as it gets! I cannot understand why anybody would want to deform their body in this way. International organizations should require headgear in competition, and coaches and clubs should require it in practice.
I always wore a headgear, for meets and practice. Through HS, college and coaching. It's definitely a badge of honor in the MMA community and have seen the meme (someone is instigating a fight, then they notice the other person has cauliflower ear and immediately change their tune) in real life. Why are you getting into triangles? It's definitely a badge of honor in the MMA community and have seen the meme (someone is instigating a fight, then they notice the other person has cauliflower ear and immediately change their tune) in real life. I went to the ENT and had mine properly drained and sewn back up. Now I wear headgear whenever I roll. Makes it more difficult to get out of triangles, but better than getting my ear cut open again.
Bingo!I don't disagree, but competition is a tiny fraction of the time spent in practice. Limited or negligible impact if requirement is only in matches, and IDK how to enforce that in practices, youth clubs, camps, etc.
Has to be a cultural change.
But did you wear a polo shirt to protect against Cauliflower Nipple?I always wore a headgear, for meets and practice. Through HS, college and coaching.

A newspaper had a competition amongst cartoonists back in the day to parody this mascot and Berke Breathed came up with a masterpiece. I’ve never been able to find it googling, but essentially it was kind of a fat, hairy sleezy old guy smoking a cigar and seen from the side looking like a dollar sign in profile - its name was “weknowwhatitiz”. Of course he was making fun of the IOC’s never ending quest to make money by any means necessaryTheir reactions are priceless.........hilarious!
Although at least it's not the Izzy Whatizit mascot from the 1996 Atlanta Summer games. Worst Olympic mascot ever - What is it?

Mike Evans is actually impressed.
Refs and scorekeepers should be in the first group. Dubuque doesn't get a pass, either. He should have been embarrassed fighting for that embarrassment.
see starocci thread. So is that Kurt McHenry IG thing going to emerge here?
A lot of familiar, and much younger, faces in there. This was Great. This is who PSU's coach is. Amazing.
Sealy's freestyle aspirations are going to be a heavy influence on his decision. I'm curious to see how this summer goes for him.I’m sure UVU is loving being Penn State’s island of last resort. Right now, they’re like Joe Sealey and Connor Pierce, come on down!
My HS buddy was one win away from being a quarter finalist at... states... (Yeah, I'm from PA) and got a full ride at the naval academy for football. He was a good athlete. Every once in a while in gym class, we would wrestle.I don't care how successful the person who has it is, and that there is some badge of honor associated with it.......it is as ugly as it gets! I cannot understand why anybody would want to deform their body in this way. International organizations should require headgear in competition, and coaches and clubs should require it in practice.
Great video that I'd never seen before. Took me till 38:46 to figure out where Cael got that strong, distinctive jawline . . . it was mom, all along. This was Great. This is who PSU's coach is. Amazing.
I thought it was from his ancestor ThanosGreat video that I'd never seen before. Took me till 38:46 to figure out where Cael got that strong, distinctive jawline . . . it was mom, all along.![]()
