His 3s aren't falling but hes by far playing the hardest of anyone on the team, you can literally see it him giving twice the effort of everyone else

Always appreciated Scott Padgett’s play. Underrated UK player.
Been waiting for another 4 similar to him. AJ is more developed at the same time (soph) but still too inconsistent. Plus that spin move in the lane has to go.
I know overseas guys take time but do think he’s a keeper. Hoping that light goes off soon.
That's exactly how he needs to be used: a like four who's practically a three but has a little weight to throw around and can rebound.

Jelavic is going to improve as time goes on and is one player I hope returns next season.
Has by far the most upside of any player that could return, yes, including Chandler. I just hope we don’t find out the hard way by Pope letting him leave and go to a coach who would know how to use him properly.

Man we have fallen off. Jelavic doesn’t belong at UK.
You aren’t kidding…he’s a very poor PF in about every dimension

29% 3pt…and he’s not shy jacking them up
His rebound is decent…but he’s not amazing in the glass
50% ft shooting
He’s a walking turnover ..24 now vs 11 assists
Six blocks…so he’s no rim protector

Kam getting hurt allows jelly to play more and we’re way less for it. I’m all for him staying and developing…/but he should be relegated to backup snd needs to work on his shots

Jelavic was a huge miss and a terrible evaluation. And he isn't the only such case on the roster. Give me a coach who knows how to evaluate talent.

Ok. I hope AJ improves and can give us something. I don’t hate him, but he needs to stop dribbling and trying to initiate anything at all, ever. But he is nowhere close to Scott, and he never will be.

I think he has some offensive skill. Decent rebounder, Decent shot, i think his three point shot percent will improve. Improvement needed in passing, defending and handles. Would like to see him stay and develop.

He looked pretty good cutting to the rim, and actually made some lay ups vs USCjr. If he can dial in his 3 point shot and get stronger, there's room for him on the roster.

For the season, his 3pt % is not great, but in SEC play, he's 35%. So, not a sharpshooter, but that isn't bad for a PF. By comparison, while at UK, Padgett had a career 3pt FG% of 36%, so at least during SEC play, Jelavic is comparable.

I dont' get why we parse our stats this...Jelly is shooting 30% point blank from deep. That is who he is.

Padgett shot 36.4% for his career...which is also true.
His last 3 years when he played the most
34%
37%
38%

And btw...he was a 37% 3pt shooter in NBA..

Will Jelly improve over his career...I can see it. But giving him this much PT for this year has exposed him and hurt the team to a degree.

Two different types of players, AJ will never be a Padgett.

So, I get what you are saying b/c you can lie with statistics pretty easily by making them portray different things. In this particular case with Jelly, I just split the stats for a couple of reasons
1. The main reason is... I was just thinking that was about mid-season, and for a new Euro big coming over, there would be some adjustment. He is kinda similar to Chandler last season (different reasons, but both just acclimating) in that Chandler's perimeter shot got better as he played thru the season. Now, this season, Chandler is the best shooter on the team. I don't think that kind of improvement with Jelly will happen, but I'm just pointing to the correlation of improvement as they both acclimate.
2. Conference play usually has more consistency as far as athletes that will be defending him... as opposed to Nicholls State one game then Michigan State the next during the non-conference slate.

I have no problem looking at the whole season and saying his percentages have not been as good as I expected...but, he has a good stroke, and he has improved as the season went on.

That is a fair point..>Chandler increasingly improved his shot last year...and now this year...he's like Kobi Brea goodl

I will be the first to admit that I honestly didn't see what Pitino saw in Padgett. Boy was I wrong! That young man had talent and a LOT of heart.

Padgett was a mean, competitive SOB. Haven’t seen that kinda fire from Jelavic. He can be a contributor though. Hopefully as a bench piece.

Jelavic is almost 22 years old. That's the same age Padgett was in his 5th year at UK during his final Elite 8 game.

Everything sucks now in "college" basketball.

I would put Noah in this statement as well. Plays hard, rebounds well, and fights for loose balls but can't hit his shots to save his life.

I believe the American game is to fast for him.

Besides Shooting, guarding, rebounding, passing, aggressiveness, basketball IQ and fundamentals; yeah they’re basically the same player.
