and yet he didn't get the major.I actually liked when Dee stood there with his leg out and arms down, showed just how bad his guy was stalling

It was bad except for the Forrest match. It appeared VT's goal was to take every match to OT tied 0-0.Noticed a couple of posts mentioned we looked tired but I also felt like we were not agressive in most matches.
Honestly hard to be real aggressive when opponents won’t engage. Most wrestled with back to edge. Not many shots other than 33 and 74.Noticed a couple of posts mentioned we looked tired but I also felt like we were not agressive in most matches.
I think he will be prepared to defend Seidel's takedown next time. Not sure Seidel has upside on Jax.Great job by Jax to get the W, that is what winners do. However, he will be very fortunate to win matches in the future where he loses the takedown battle 3-1.
He’s not wrong honestly if we don’t figure out how to beat active stalling.I peaked over at the VT board and several were quite reasonable. But there was one guy that made me bust out laughing. Without the tiniest hint of irony, He said that he loved VT’s aggression and that we were going to get bit at nationals wrestling the way we did.![]()
Yeah but that’s not the way he meant it.He’s not wrong honestly if we don’t figure out how to beat active stalling.
100%. Teams try the same crap against PSU and still get beat 40-3. Just because the other guy is stalling doesn't mean you're helpless. He’s not wrong honestly if we don’t figure out how to beat active stalling.
You know I love ya, but I saw this as the opposite. Jax got decked, and challenged for backpoints late. The next time Jax faces Seidel, he’s gonna pin his ***!! He damn near had him this time! Seidel only has the possibility of getting a basic decision on Jax… Jax has the ability to Tech or Pin Seidel’s ***!!. Not even a doubt in my mind!
No doubt! I’m just not sure that Seidel can bonus point match with Jax.You know I love ya, but I saw this as the opposite. Jax got decked, and challenged for backpoints late.
I know this will get get cleaned up, but dang, Jax was in danger a few times.
I was kind of surprised Seidel didnt get back points at first period. It must have been real close. But wake up call for Jax nevertheless. You know I love ya, but I saw this as the opposite. Jax got decked, and challenged for backpoints late.

I don’t think he can score bonus him, but I now think he can catch him and keep it.No doubt! I’m just not sure that Seidel can bonus point match with Jax.
obviously I trust your opinion on all things Wrestling!!! You have forgotten more about it than I will ever know!
My opinion, this type match will only make Jax an even better wrestler!
Yeah, I expected a challenge there.I was kind of surprised Seidel didnt get back points at first period. It must have been real close. But wake up call for Jax nevertheless.
I think Cody got another stall call for 1 pt against him and then Seidel got the escape. I missed that also but rewound and announcers splained it.Can someone explain how Merrill went from up 1-0 to down 2-1 in a matter of seconds...
I know he got hit for stalling and they awarded Sasso for an escape....But if he was awarded an escape, why was Merrill not awarded a takedown thereafter?
I was super confused....Then also, again, we get hit with stalling (which I agreed with it) but how does Sasso not get hit with it when holding purposely holding Merrill's hand to try and entice a stalling for him? And then for the entire minute to end, he doesn't get anything? I guess Merrill didn't have control because the guy was holding on for dear life? He had leverage, his head was up and it felt like he was in control..
Just weird.
Solid Team win, hope this wakes up Forrest, Spratley, and can't wait for Swiderski and Ryder to get back.
I think for it to have worked out like it did, they must’ve called stalling before he lost control. They give the escape and the reattack would’ve have been for a takedown. Can someone explain how Merrill went from up 1-0 to down 2-1 in a matter of seconds...

Teams now have more film an can game plan better. People now know his tendencies . I posted about this early in the season and how this would happen later in the year with the freshman. Now they've to make adjustments and find other ways to scoreThe bottom line for this match was the ref was very inconsistent and allowed the crowd to dictate his decisions. The double stall warning on Cody was both correct by definition but totally unwarranted. Cody spent the first couple of minutes chasing Sasso around the mat, much like 125, and Cody was being the aggressor who should have not been dinged.
Poorly officiated match and a lethargic performance by the team left a bad taste in our mouths.
What is wrong with Robideau? Has he hit the freshman wall or have an injury? He is winning but he doesn’t appear to be the same wrestler since his loss to Taylor.

End times are nigh upon us people……. I am agreeing with my Pops!!!We had 2 starters out of the lineup and were wrestling in enemy territory. We would have had 8 wins if Swiderski and Ryder were in the lineup. We lost very close matches in the other two and one second more in either match we would have won those. We did not wrestle our best but Kudos to Virginia Tech for their effort. Jax has to learn from his mistakes. He scored one more point than Seidel but he was out-wrestled. I do not blame the referees for our showing. Other than Vega we did not wrestle our best and I hope we are saving our best for next Sunday.
LET'S GO POKES!!!
I don’t disagree, totally.End times are nigh upon us people……. I am agreeing with my Pops!!!
Good technique and aggressiveness will overcome opponents stalling!! If it’s not working, try something else. At this level we have an arsenal of attacks. They slowed our pace and got us out of our rhythm. Yes some calls I was scratching my head too but never leave a match up to the fellas in stripes!!
Both of those guys will be collaborating decisions from the staff and med staff.Be interesting to see how DT handles the Iowa dual . Will he wrestle a banged up Casey (knee) and Ryder (shoulder) or save them until Big 12s?
I know Iowa is a rivalry dual but March is what matters if I'm him they sit.
Which I agree but why was he not given a takedown if the refs awarded Sasso the escape after review? If they didn't give him the escape, should've been 1-1 after the stall call.I think Cody got another stall call for 1 pt against him and then Seidel got the escape. It was 1-0 Cody. Ref didn't call the escape. Cody in on legs gets 5 count (yes looked like Sasso holding Cody's hand on leg) stall call thus score 1-1 action stops. Cody chooses neutral position so 1-2 Sasso.Which I agree but why was he not given a takedown if the refs awarded Sasso the escape after review? I thought they awarded the escape after the review? I didn't go back and watch it again but I thought they confirmed Merrill lost the advantage and Sasso was able to turn around and square up, simultaneously Merrill taking a shot.It was 1-0 Cody. That was an escape but they review and didn't change it. Also sure looked like a TD in first period - both legs hip and on hand on mat and Cody has control of one leg and hip.
