Cowtown, you’re one of my absolute favorites on this board. That said, we all know that the main culprit of us having 2 of those 3 starters out is because Pope made the decision to spend big money on damaged goods. JQ is more understandable than JL because he’s a rare combo of freakish size and a lot of talent. JLowe otoh was always a huge gamble and one that he shouldn’t have taken whatsoever. We would’ve been so much better this year with a great pg and he has zero excuses for not landing one!I’m telling you, we have some of the absolute WORST fans in the world. We also have some great fans as well. However, I get so tired of seeing how much people hate our coach and saying they wish he would be fired, blah blah blah. Take 3 starters of ANY team and I bet they’re in worse shape than we are currently.
So, what if we didn’t take the gamble, and he went to another SEC school and played at an elite level? Pope would’ve never heard the end of it. Furthermore, the season isn’t over yet. JQ might still play and make an impact. We had another PG signed and the dude went to Nova.Cowtown, you’re one of my absolute favorites on this board. But we've had so many guys start because of missing players who were counted on to start. The whole losing 3 starters bs is a reach when we have had so many guys start.
This is just something the excuse makers are gonna use. That's fine and can't wait to see what excuse they make a year from now.

They haven't played with a full roster but for 4 games, I think. Not enough to really gel.We didn't really look that good when all these missing guys were playing either. Poorly constructed roster..

It's apparent you've not played team sports before. Teammates require time to develop chemistry on the court. You can't expect teammates to be perfectly in sync immediately without any prior experience playing with each other. We didn't really look that good when all these missing guys were playing either. Today’s college landscape has very little continuity from team to team. There are plenty of teams in college basketball with players who are not familiar with each other that have been performing very well all year long. Our team has been very poorly coached this year, pope has looked like a deer in headlights many times during games this year. I thought pope would kill it at UK, I was wrong. It is only a matter of time before he gets replaced. He is not UK coach material. It's apparent you've not played team sports before. Teammates require time to develop chemistry on the court. As cowtown and I have said many times....take e of the top 8 from any team and see how well they do...IDC about your opinion of Pope, the fact is he is without 3 of his top 8. JQ was a gamble...but pope has no way of knowing jlowe would be injured in preseason. It's not his fault the other point guard decommitted beCause he was afraid of competition. You are letting your hate blind you to the facts. I think most people were ok with gamble on jq. What everyone is really upset with is the recruiting. I guarantee if he had a couple 5 stars signed for next year all this pope hate would be almost non-existent. I agree the recruiting and results on the court have been frustrating, but the hate for a coach that is doing a good job in a difficult situation is way over the top.The whole losing 3 starters bs is a reach when we have had so many guys start.

The team keeps winning and a lot of you keep complaining about the coach. What is wrong with you people ?Today’s college landscape has very little continuity from team to team. Agreed Cowtown, we had a nice pg (Acaden Lewis) signed and then he was recruited over when pope decided to take an already injured JLowe. I said Lowe was a bad take when we signed him and I stand by that. He’s NEVER shot the ball well and isn’t athletic at all. What did pope see that was soooo great? My point is that we are UK and we should not and can not settle for for the Lowe’s of college ball! Sign the elite and or extremely proven and not already damaged players! You would think he would’ve been gun shy on the guys with shoulder injuries after Lamont. Instead, he doubled down on stupid. So, what if we didn’t take the gamble, and he went to another SEC school and played at an elite level? Pope would’ve never heard the end of it. Lowe did not have a pre-existing shoulder injury as you are asserting when he was signed.Agreed Cowtown, we had a nice pg (Acaden Lewis) signed and then he was recruited over when pope decided to take an already injured JLowe. You do realize we are winning against the bottom of the SEC don’t you? We have played 3 teams in the SEC with a .500 conference record or better and we are 1-2 in those 3 games. The team keeps winning and a lot of you keep complaining about the coach. What is wrong with you people ?
If im not mistaken it was jlowes father himself that said this in s interview with our media. I’ll do my best to try and find that interview and post it.Lowe did not have a pre-existing shoulder injury as you are asserting when he was signed.
I wasn’t big on the Lowe signing either. I think Pope wanted a veteran to pair with Lewis. IMO, Pope thought that Lowe’s efficiency would increase by playing with better players than he played with at Pitt. He thought his shooting numbers would also increase.Agreed Cowtown, we had a nice pg (Acaden Lewis) signed and then he was recruited over when pope decided to take an already injured JLowe. Slow down. Maybe even read this aloud if it helps you. One of those “starters” was signed knowing he might not be able to play or contribute much of the year. It’s disingenuous to call him a starter. Another of those “starters” was basically unplayable for about 10-12 games. The one starter that kinda/sorta matters was the 3rd team all ACC guard that couldn’t defend you. We heard all offseason how deep this is. Now they’re getting the chance to prove it.I’m telling you, we have some of the absolute WORST fans in the world. We also have some great fans as well. No, we’ve had so many guys start because our coach can’t seem to pick which mid option to go with. Garrison and MO aren’t not starting because they got hurt. Kam wasn’t not starting (or playing for that matter) early in the season because he was hurt. Root cause is because none of those guys were especially good. But we've had so many guys start because of missing players who were counted on to start.
Still could play hard. Still could game plan. You just miss why people are upset. It's not the losses alone. We even play poorly in wins.I’m telling you, we have some of the absolute WORST fans in the world. We also have some great fans as well. No, when Lowe went out, he has had to try several at running point. When that happens, they along with others start playing out of position. It became trial and error, mixing them around to find where each could at least contribute or develop comfort at position. But you have your opinion and it isn't changing. No, we’ve had so many guys start because our coach can’t seem to pick which mid option to go with. How a team plays also is determined by the how the other team plays. I don't miss why you and a few others are upset. You hate the coach. period. Win or lose, you complain.Still could play hard. No one can watch this team and say it's well coached.
Winning is great but it also masks problems to many. We can't keep winning playing like we are.
Who the hell else would a competent coach try at PG on this roster? If Lowe isn’t available, Aberdeen is PG1 and Jasper is PG2. You might not like it, but those are the options. Anyone that sees that differently is just clueless. No, when Lowe went out, he has had to try several at running point. When that happens, they along with others start playing out of position. Listen, I was just pointing out that losing the only point guard before game 1 put several or of position. Of course he tried those guys, but that puts them and others out of position. Then it is trial and error getting line ups to work in the middle of big games at the start of the season.Who the hell else would a competent coach try at PG on this roster? Condescending or no, he shouldn’t have had to try multiple lineups. He knew once Lewis left that Aberdeen was the backup to Lowe and JJ was behind that. If he didn’t, that’s bad coaching. Trying to play Chandler in that spot is just silly. That said, it seems to have worked itself out. I think what he’s doing now is spot on with the rotation. Sorry if I was condescending to you. Not my intent. It’s just super frustrating when it’s evident to a ton of people, but Pope just kept trying to put people in positions they weren’t capable of being successful. Chandler at PG, Garrison as the starting 5 getting big minutes, and MO starting and getting major mins at the 4. All seemed like a huge stretch and ultimately was the wrong call. Hopefully he’s settled on what we are seeing now. I still don’t think the team is great, but at least what he’s doing now gives them the opportunity to be the best version of themselves. That’s the key moving forward.Listen, I was just pointing out that losing the only point guard before game 1 put several or of position. All this was just my answer to complaints about multiple line ups.
But you are a high school assistant coach and I'm not. Plus you are very condescending. Doesn't make you right.
you didnt notice during this 5 game stretch Mo is playing the 4 and BG is playing the 5 .Condescending or no, he shouldn’t have had to try multiple lineups. For sure. But both are in backup roles with Moreno getting most of the mins at the 5 and MO getting equalish mins with Jelavich. MO’s playing time moving forward is obviously matchup dependent. Jelavich is much better for the offense, but against physical teams MO is going to have to play more mins. That’s what I meant about the rotation looking correct now.you didnt notice during this 5 game stretch Mo is playing the 4 and BG is playing the 5 .
No, it wasn't near that long lol; Big Mike is like a lot of us, joyful when we win and melting down when we lose.About a month ago, Big Mike was one of those fans.........
