Going forward, tell HS she can run baseline. Tell girls to stop forcing passes at top of key to guarded players because they are so anxious to give up ball.
Jan should have explained that to her after the 1st time she did it. She didn’t, otherwise she wouldn’t have done it a 2nd and 3rd time. Most players in college know the rule but unfortunately we have a senior that doesn’t.

On both the men's and women's side we keep seeing these late-half meltdowns, and we keep saying it's a great learning opportunity.

Sooo....when do you suppose we'll finally fully grasp the lesson?
What mens game was even close to this??

We started like **** against Illinois and played like **** the whole game versus Minny.

And once again Deal may as well have not even taken her warmups off coming out of half time. Someone please tell me again that she's not playing during crunch time because of turnovers and then go back and watch our guard play in the 4Q. And the defense in the 4Q was horrendous by most of the guards. Maryland 12-15 points in each of the 3Q's and THIRTY FOUR points in the 4th. Really......
She's not playing in crunch time because Jan trusts her starters more. It is what it is. It was pretty much a team collapse at the end of the 4th quarter. With that said, they beat the #15 team on the road for their 4th Big10 road win in as many tries. She must be doing something right. 😃

It’s a bit of a mystery and as I labeled a concern. Her D tonight was great. Missed a couple of shots she normally makes but some good assists. I’m can’t help but think as most of Iowas players were melting down and throwing the ball all over the place that AD wouldn’t have been a better option. But JJ is about loyalty and experience.

Why would you trust your starters going forward against pressure after what you saw tonight?

A lot of us (definitely me) were frustrated with last 3 minutes of regulation as it was awful including coaching. On the other hand, JJ had them ready in OT and the players collected themselves and came out back on track.

But the biggest concern to me is the lackadaisical play across the team at times and the absence of a basic bball IQ. All JMHO.

If she would have played Journey more in the 4th quarter it probably doesn't go to overtime.

Nah you gotta be more situational than that. You’re being too simplistic. It’s a team that’s struggled against pressure. Figure out your best close out 5. I’m sorry it doesn’t include HS. It’s situational not personal.
High school? Hannah struggled tonight, especially towards the end, but she's won games for them as well and was just named Big10 player of the week for 2 straight outstanding games. In any case Jan isn't removing her from the lineup at the end of games so everyone is just going to have to deal with it. 17-2, 8-0, 1st place in the Big10. She knows what she's doing.

Nope. A Senior who has played as much as she has should be able to complete an inbounds pass and have the knowledge she doesn't need to just stand there...

She's got flaws but to say she's regressed is moronic. She's the team's best rebounder, best post defender, and even though she had a couple of bad inbounds passes (one wasn't on her imo) she's improved her play making ability to the point where she's second on the team in assists since conference play started.

We'd all love if she was a better scorer but to act like she's not doing anything else is lazy. You take Hannah off this team they lose tonight by double figures and they are probably close to .500 team overall

Dude you’re not even arguing the point. Don’t coach br big 10 weekly awards. Coach situationally and what’s best for your team.

there are times when HS should NOt be on the floor.

Hindsight is better than foresight I realize but with the way HS was playing late in regulation, might have been better to go small or go with Houston. This old ex coach might have gone small. Inbounding after a made shot-run the baseline and maybe have someone else make inbounds pass.

I think she played the entire second half and was gassed. I know Layla is struggling bjt she should have gotten a couple minutes at the start of the fourth to give Hannah a rest.
