@pisgah101, I hope you're right about the outcome. This has the feel of a game where we are a step slow, and get beat.
You might be right.. but I don’t have the energy for a loss at 1 am so I hope you’re wrong LOL
I’m going to have to watch this tomorrow morning. I won’t check the score, I’ll just fast forward the commercials and halftime. I’m not gonna stay up and feel like crap all day (extremely crappy if Duke loses).

11pm start time is terrible. This is the worst part of the ACC expanding.
Cal isnt absolutely horrible like the past but this is a game Duke should win with relative ease. I say Duke by 12-15.

Sorry @pisgah101 for texting you yday asking about this post. I thought it was Wednesday all day. Anyways we are here….Duke has the potential to lose this game being it is late and we have struggled but I can also see them beating the mess out of Cal.

My west coast college track experience was not a good one. We flew out to San Diego State, I got motion sickness and ran like crap the next day. But I wasn't flying first class and staying in 5 star hotels like these slappys. We were excited to get 10 dollars for dinner.

Tip off was 11PM EST? these coast to coast conference alignments are a joke.
Evans got hot, and helped us finish the half on a good note. The D was better at the end, but I still think Ngongba needs to control the paint better than he does. Not sure what he’s doing double teaming sometimes 30 feet from the basket. He leaves the paint wide open.
Think Cam is sick?? He sat near the end and didn’t have much energy in the first half.
Yeah I'm thinking something is up. I gotta rewatch this later to see if he missed a couple assignments or something because he sat a while

Unfortunately think almost every game we play is going to be close because we can't shoot free throws

Solid road win. These west coast games have proven to be difficult for east coast teams.

Boozer continued to miss defensive assignments. Cal’s big hit four three’s on Boozer. Sitting Sarr was once again the right call in the second . He still can’t make a layup . He’s got to go up strong or pass the ball. The defense on Ames was key . The first half was slow and a lot of shooting 3’s the second half I think the “overated” chants pissed Cam off because he began attacking and not settling . On to Stanford and there 4-0 at home against ranked teams this season.
Sarr has tremendously weak hands. His handle isn’t great either but it’s hand strength that’s causing him to lose the ball on his drives.
Cam and Isaiah are our only 2 consistent players. Everyone else could score 15 points or suck and play 10 minutes total. This is just a weird team man.
Sarr is our best defender and appears to be the best defensive player in the ACC. I think he’s now shooting around 40% from 3 too, he made a couple nice drives and passes, but the 2nd half turnover was maddening. At this point it’s Pat I’m worried about the most.

Boozer isn't a great defender, but I think the biggest issue on defense is Ngongba. I still say we need more out of him on that side of the ball. He should control the paint better than I think he does. Sarr and Brown are both solid on defense, and Khamenia has good fundamentals, he's just a step slow.
On offense, Sarr reminds me of Cam Reddish when going to the basket, and I'd like to see Foster go north/south a little more. When Brown is on the floor, it's 4 on 5. Boozer and Evans are solid, we just need to make sure the others chip in enough to keep the defenses honest.

Far from a polished product and I agree there are some concerns. But this team is 16-1 with 8 quad 1 wins. They without doubt have THE best resume in the country.

The missed free throws drive me crazy to no end!!! One of the commentators hit the nail on the head last night, "Duke is too good of a team to have the deficiency of leaving points at the charity stripe." The commentator is right, it's the little things that matter in the post season. Duke simply needs to BE BETTER at converting at the free throw line!!!
A lot of Solid Points made by everyone on here. Duke's calling card this season is it's Team Defense.
Hope Foster/Cayden/Sarr are Ready 2 Defend Stanford's Point Guard on Saturday Afternoon, because he carved up the tar holes last night. Also, Duke HAS TO be ready to Defend Well against the 3 point shot on Saturday. The Cardinal made 16 3s against the cheats last night.
