Who is the 26 recruit?

I presume Donovan Davis is the 27 recruit back again (3rd visit?)

He is in the house!

FWIW, I heard an unsubstantiated rumor that the big donors are impressed with Ben and the trajectory of the program and are willing to fund quality, high level recruits / transfers.

Take it with the proverbial grain of salt…
I have no doubt that if/when Ben can get a team of high level players, Iowa will be competing regularly for championships.

Iowa assistant coach Luke Barnwell watched 2027 four-star PG Cayden Daughtry yesterday in Springfield, MO.

Cayden is playing in the Bass Pro T Of C high school basketball tournament.

Iowa offers Omaha Westside 2027 three-star forward London Dada, who visited Iowa City earlier this winter for a gameday.

It is an estimate based on pure speculation.
Not based on any facts.
Iowa brought in 10- 11 transfers so our number is naturally going to be elevated
Probably 4 + million is revenue sharing from school.

You are right. I saw where Kentucky spent over $20M. They got 44% of their $20.5M in profit sharing plus a lot of NIL. Michigan is North of $15M.

Found this... Anybody believe it?

Dude is getting ripped about this post.

Iowa had $20.5M to pay players via revenue sharing. I am guessing Ben got somewhere between $3M and $4M.

Then any booster money filled in the gaps, of course.

From a Google search:

The normal revenue sharing breakdown for Power 4 schools in the 2025-26 academic year is an estimated 75% to football, 15% to men's basketball, and 10% to all other sports, though schools have discretion, with some adding 5% for women's basketball.

This structure, based on the NCAA's $20.5 million cap per school, heavily favors high-revenue sports, with football and men's basketball set to receive the vast majority of funds, but specific percentages can vary by institution and conference.

Typical Breakdown (example):
$15.4M:...........Football: ~75%
.....$3.1M:...........Men's Basketball: ~15%
..... $1.0M:...........Women's Basketball: ~5% (Optional addition)
......$1.0M:...........All Other Sports: ~5% (Combined)
.................................................
$20.5M Total

The bye week is freeing up time for the coaches to go out recruiting. Tough time for them to be traveling whether it be by air or driving. Brutally cold here in Ohio and the snow rolls it this evening.

Yeah; hard to visit kids when schools are shut down, power lines are down & roads are ice covered. :(

One good thing about this massive storm is that everyone got plenty of notice (so hopefully Ben/staff planned accordingly & the residents impacted went grocery shopping ahead of time and plan to stay home this weekend)

Ben, Josh Sash, and Bryston Williams were in Milwaukee on Saturday night watching top 2027 targets Jack Kohnen and Donovan Davis.

ISU coach continues to recruit Wisconsin very well...his ties to the area seem to never fade.
Do we have a similar " recruiting area"?...Missouri?

Admit that I am a bit jealous of ISU bb machine at this point.

I was excited that he visited for his third unofficial visit until I see that he has visited ISU as often as Iowa. He has plans for a second visit to Nebraska. He has visited Wiscy like 7-8 times. Glad Ben and his assistants visited last weekend but I think it is an uphill battle.

Ben absolutely must find a super quick guard for next year to defend opposing quick guards.
We seemingly have a giant problem stopping guys off the dribble this year. It is now a pattern.

Just hope we can afford that person

Next year will be interesting; losing Stirtz is gonna hurt in more ways than one. Last night he hit the 2 clutch FTs at the end. Who's gonna be "the guy" next year?

Combs will do just fine running the point. If he can start to consistently make 3’s, he’ll be one of the better guards in the league. Especially with his size and ability to get into the lane. But yes a quick guard would absolutely help next year.

Between Combs and Sage I think we will have a solid backcourt looking ahead to next season. Harris will help us on the wing but we will need to start developing a young guard at the point. Maybe a quick veteran point from the portal can come in if we don't pick up a point guard until the 27 class.

At least one portal guard will be the plan, along with a HS kid. Hope like hell that younger kid is a re-classed Cayden Daughtry.

Don’t forget about Howard. He could slide right into the role combs is playing this year. Going to be awfully hard keeping that bulldog off the floor

A bit off topic and way early but I saw a 7th grader the other night who is going to be a player. I know he is playing under developed competition but you can see it. Handles, rebounding, defense. Scoring at this level is very easy but it is everything else in his game that is eye popping.
Cedar Falls Peet Jr. high. Cayden Oakland. His family has connection at UNI of course but IMHO this kid is going to get some looks.
