Where does this portal insanity end?

So there is a penalty to the school who signs and player under contract. That should be a deterrent, at least for bigger contracts.

Keep Dec signing for HS recruits.

1 transfer window starting in mid-February.
Let's teams settle their coaching staffs after the CFB/NFL season (except us of course) and evaluate current roster.

Spring Practices start in April.

Transfers are "stuck" at their current school and miss Spring Practice? - eh too bad. It's still "supposed" to be school so finish out the year.

They still have access to facility and academic support.
Was listening to the CFE pod and things being discussed with the calendar are related to moving things back in multiple ways. Coaches are helping lead the discussion, of course they were the ones that wanted a lot of things the way they are now lol. They just didn't realize the mess they were making.

Things being discussed:

Gradually moving the regular season up so week 0 becomes week 1.

Moving the CFP up so the semifinals are on New Years but the big bowls don't like that, who cares lol.

Having 1 signing day and pushing it back to where it was in February.

Getting rid of spring practice in April, concerns about not having enough time to replace injuries if they happen in later in the year practices though.

Having 1 portal in April instead, concerns about players sticking around for 4 more months when they know they're moving on and coaches wanting to know their rosters earlier on but again who cares.

OTAs and summer camp taking place from late spring through summer...May through August.

Getting rid of spring practice - never gonna happen

Not that the other things have any real chance of happening.

That LSU fan on X, Dylan, should eat his words. Contracts have power in business. Imagine that. College football is a big business and contracts matter.

1 transfer window makes sense and it being after the season, even more sense. But it does screw up schedules if any kid does actually care about their academics. But if they could find a way to make all transfers just 1 time a year, and it has to be a 2 year commitment (unless something like a HC change or significant scandal happens that imposes penalties) and a 2nd transfer sooner than that requires an automatic sit out year...And all this crap goes back to making some sense.
