meh. Trump had been baking Maduro and Venezuela for fentanyl, but even his own DEA has noted that there isn’t a lot of fentanyl that comes from Venezuela. So that is why we are all skeptical about the “drug war” argument. It sounds a lot like the WMD bullsh1t we heard.
I am interested to see what the next step is here. It seems to me that this admin does not do a good job of planning ahead.

I might be looking at this a little differently. Lately Russia and China have been getting just a little too cozy with countries in our hemisphere. We do still have the Monroe doctrine, although I guess it's getting a little stale. So, I don't know if you could make a case, but there's something to consider about potential benefits of a pro American government in Venezuela, Cuba, or Columbia.
By the way, it might have been posted and I missed it, but the Biden administration put a $25 million bounty on information leading to the arrest of Maduro as late as January 2025. So, while Biden would never have had the fortitude to do what Trump did, his goal - arrest of madurao - was the same.
