If you have to focus on "you're being a meanie," you have nothing.

Note, in my initial reply, I actually did opine substantively on the topic ... and you refused to do the same ... simply saying "you hurt my feelings and didn't answer my questions." Then, I went through and answered every single question. And, what do I get back in return? "You hurt my feelings" and some short gibberish about, again, the fact that China and Russia don't like us that this supposedly justifies taking over any country that doesn't hate them.

Which is absolutely insane. And exactly what the MAGAts are supposed to stand against. Yet, now, they've embraced it. Because they must back the Fuhrer.
Your lack of maturity is truely stunning

I tend to think keeping China at bay was a major factor in Venezuela. Hope that it works, but the comments coming out of South America aren't 'thank God you saved us' more 'need restraint and violating sovereignty'. If that is the real position in those countries, we may have just made it easier for China- after all they just want to buy everything and establish influence, the US wants to dictate how they run their country.

Keeping us at bay is what drives both Chinese and Russian policy- creating and maintaining that safety belt.
Fair comments and obviously time will only tell the ramifications. It is interesting to note that we did the same thing in Panama and that seems to have worked out well for that country

That's exactly what will happen. Hell Biden's whole term was based on "undoing" everything Trump had accomplished in his first term even if it was to the detriment of America and her people.

That being said, I love removing illegal immigrants and blowing up drug boats headed to our country but I'm not sure I'm on board with invading another country and grabbing their President and his wife in the middle of the night. We have too much crap that needs to be fixed within our own country that should be getting Trump's full attention.
A president should be a diplomat and not a dictator. And don't say Trump is a dictator when he's fighting outside forces that bring crime to America.

LOL and I thought those on my side (the right) had enough crazy conspiracy theories.

Its multifaceted but not complicated. Drugs, oil, natural resources (next door in Guyana), a dictator upsetting the order. He was cozying up to China, Russia and Iran. The guy stole an election (touchy subject with Trump).

Trump did his best Eastwood and told him to get out multiple times. Somebody would have taken Maduro and his money in from the cold. Now he will go to prison. Maybe even this Petro guy.

US already owned Panama and had since 1900- Canal Zone was US, Howard AFB, Fort Gullick (SF training base), Ft Clayton home to 193rd Infantry was there, couple of Navy bases, their military had experience with US troops, headquarters of Southern Command was there, US jungle school was there, they used US currency…

Almost like invading Arizona or Texas.

Venezuela is nothing like Panama other than the language. Better analogy would be Iraq and I remember how well that went. Best line from the first Gulf War was ‘if you break it you own it’. Avoided that in 1990, costly ownership the second time.

If his arrogance would have allowed/sought Congressional involvement he would have been justified. Without a declaration of war, this event is closer to a kidnapping.

Wonder how many other countries could make the same claim about the US?

Without a declaration of war it could be argued that Trump unilaterally promotes war crimes by destroying boats and condones open seas pirating similar to Somalis

There are ways to do things correctly and maintain worldwide support and there is the ham fisted approach. Which does this most resemble?

FIFY worst line. So far so good. Limited engagement. Leave. Demands to follow behind the scenes. Comply or your next. Rinse and repeat until the order of Pax Americana is restored.

Bush did not have congressional approval for Panama. Of course one of our soldiers was killed before the action. H Bush maybe set a precedent. Heck it rhymes so much that Maduro and Pineapple were captured on the same day Jan 3rd.

The big difference is that Bush consistently claimed it was legal- before, during and after— I think he was wrong, but he could at least pretend that he did not know he needed Congressional permission. US forces in Panama were also being consistently harrassed and detained.

Trump and his administrations have repeatedly stated that they needed Congressional authority, so their argument is pretty hopeless.

What? This will just turn Latin America even more towards China
Dude, you have no clue what’s going on in Latin America and the Chinese. I lived there for 24 years and say that takeover in Costa Rica and Panama as well
As Colombia letting the Chinese come in to take over markets, etc. Want me to educate you on how the Chinese have bribed the Costa Rican government? Google it yourself Libby.
This take down of Maduro is celebrated within Venezuela. One of my best friends lives there and they’re rejoicing at Trumps arrest of Maduro. They’re only concern now is the existing regime trying to control the country and actually promising to shoot protesters which is typical of liberal dumbasses that are scared of losing power.
Funny how they want to take away guns yet want to control the FREE population with guns and shootings.

Equivalently as bad as TDS effected individuals claiming people are calling Trump "daddy."

From what I see, woke is equivalent to intersectionality. If you don't object to intersectionality, you are nuts.
"Equivalently" IS an English word, but it is poor and incorrect grammar to say "Equivalently as bad ,,," You could have posted "Equally as bad," and THAT would have worked.

"TDS effected [sic]?" TDS affected would have worked, but then you have to understand the distinction between "affect" and "effect." That is beyond your abilities, Hermster, which explains why you dropped out of Widener and why you rarely post more than ten words at a time.

this has nothing to do with your post....but I find it hilarious that people on the left are now telling us that this arrest of Maduro is a clear violation of international law. These people don't have solid ideas of US law much less international law. It's also hilarious that members of Congress - some of the biggest "leakers" in the US are upset that they didn't get prior notification. Who in their right mind would let Adam Schiff know of an impending attack?

And it's "equivalently" hilarious that people who have been complaining about drugs in the country are outraged that somebody is doing something to decrease the amount of drugs in the US.

Just another example of our politics today...if the left is for it, right has to be against it, and vice versa.

Wait til they read this….

“Pottinger’s system eventually gave rise to a network of covert intermediaries shipping arms around the world; the CIA’s profits became a slush fund used to illegally bankroll the insurgent Contra army, who waged a war against Nicaragua’s leftist government while simultaneously trafficking cocaine to the United States.”

And they flew it into Mena,AR under the protection of the Governor Bill Clinton. All these ruling class politicians are involved. Party alignment doesnt mean anything to them. Party is just a distraction for the phlebs...

No doubt there are differences, but it is hard for me to compare it to Iraq simply because countries like that have major religious and idealogical differences between their population that truly hate each other. When one gets power then they treat the other poorly. Similar to Yugoslavia that ultimately got broken up because the groups were never going to live together peacefully.
Venezuela was one of the riches countries in the area until the people allowed socialism to push people into power that then became dictators. There will certainly be pro-Maduro people that will remain but that country has the resources to return to prosparity and that tends to make everyone happy.

Correction, its not JUST about. This is a multi-layered cake....

It's not at all about that. Never was. That's obvious to everyone, as he's pardoning drug kingpins while pretending to attack a minor player in the drug trade by bombing small boats. That was the worst attempt at a pretext to regime change that we've ever been witness to.

But, again, this is just more evidence of cult worship ... MAGAtdaddy tells you that we won't be doing these types of things, and you cheer ... he does these types of things, and you cheer. Whatever your Fuhrer does, you cheer.

I never practiced international law, but I did take a course on it during law school. By everything I remember, and have subsequently read up on, this is a clear violation of international law. But, if you have something else to say on the matter, substantively ... then say it ... don't just insult people and then refuse to share your supposed superior knowledge in a childish "if you don't know, I'm not telling" sort of way.

It's also hilarious that members of Congress - some of the biggest "leakers" in the US are upset that they didn't get prior notification. Who in their right mind would let Adam Schiff know of an impending attack?

Anyone who still believes in what we had before your Fuhrer took power - a representative democracy. You must be the other guy.

And it's "equivalently" hilarious that people who have been complaining about drugs in the country are outraged that somebody is doing something to decrease the amount of drugs in the US.

Just another example of our politics today...if the left is for it, right has to be against it, and vice versa.

This has and had nothing to do with drugs. And this is a sad, sad attempt by you to run cover for what this was ... whether or not they trafficked in drugs does not excuse your Fuhrer's behavior.

There are lots of countries who traffic in drugs. There are lots of countries doing all sorts of bad things, other than trafficking drugs. Trump shouldn't be unilaterally instituting regime change in any of them.

This seems a pretty simple concept that MAGAts abandoned when their mentally compromised leader decided to undertake these actions. Suddenly, these actions they opposed, prior, are now some of their favorite things.

Sounds like you need a history lesson on when America was respected!!
As do you.

Is the US more or less respected worldwide today or 30 years ago? 50 years ago? 75 years ago?

Were more Americans more or less supportive of their government leaders today or 30 years ago? 50 years ago? 75 years ago? Likely similar numbers 50 years ago as that was Watergate-- but people still believed in the institutions.

The question is not about the people supporting the government. It's about the government for the people of America 🇺🇸 and that don't mean hand outs!!
