Just watch some sumo wrestling. Same thing.I’d love to see a matchup between her and Audi Crooks!
I see Journey is now listed at 6’0” on the official site. Maybe she grew an inch this semester. LOLShe's pretty damn good at 5'11.
Yah, Hannah improved each year but has clearly regresssed so far this season. That can be a killer in close games.Hannah 4-11 free throws
ridiculous
Several times today.....didn't take any of them.....Just shoot that 6ft shot Hannah... Don't drive into the shot blocker
She’s playing a different position with different expectations. Her points, rebounds, assists, and steals are all up from last year. Her rebounds and assists numbers are the best of her career. Her turnover numbers are down 39%. I respectfully disagree she has regressed.Yah, Hannah improved each year but has clearly regresssed so far this season. That can be a killer in close games.
Heavy elbows to the face by Merkle on the post up.
Not a fan of this "style" of basketball
Agree. Her game is even less subtle then CrooksHeavy elbows to the face by Merkle on the post up.
Not a fan of this "style" of basketball
Or the ability to make even 1/2 her free throws.....it just sucks that Hannah doesn't have that mid range jumper....
I'm going to keep saying this, but the less Kylie plays and the more Stremlow and Deal play the better we'll be come March. Go back and look at the games she's played less and Strem and Deal have more then 10 minutes.Great game from Deal. You can see the potential. Her ceiling is super high.
Yes, but only about half the size of the one in Ames.
Not. She just as heavy as Crooks but 3 inches taller......Yes, but only about half the size of the one in Ames.
She's on the bench.
She hasn’t really regressed. She never had and didn’t develop a jump shot and she no longer has CC to get the ball to her when beating others down court.Yah, Hannah improved each year but has clearly regresssed so far this season. That can be a killer in close games.
And a few other things.Jan has to have the team work on inbounding the ball!

McMiller was really impressive. #23Kieger will be out at end of the year. Would love to get # 19 from the portal. She would start for Iowa next year.
Penn St doesn't play defense as evidenced by giving up an average of over 100 points in their 2 BigTen games.Penn St has the the 2 best perimeter players on the court. 19 and 23 are outstanding.
Iowa frontcourt depth just too much.
Wasn't it last season or the season before that the Student Newspaper published a story about her allegedly mis-treating some of her players. I remembering reading the story and supposedly it was going to be investigated but never heard anything about the results.Kieger will be out at end of the year. Would love to get # 19 from the portal. She would start for Iowa next year.

Always around the ball.I see Journey is now listed at 6’0” on the official site. Maybe she grew an inch this semester. LOL
Agreed, she is very good and fun to watch.
Is the one in Ames in the football transfer portal yet?Yes, but only about half the size of the one in Ames.
Yeah. I don't understand some people complaining that the "CC Effect was being wasted". This is a top 10 or 15 team with major contributions from sophomores and freshmen who will only get better.6 players in double figures today, 2 freshmen, 3 Sophomores and Hannah. Some really nice pieces to continue to build on for the future.
Sorry if already posed, I don't follow these threads that closely, but what is wrong with Kylie?Kylie listed as questionable.
She has been one of Jan’s worst developed posts. It’s hard to comprehendShe’s playing a different position with different expectations. Her FT% is down, but she also taking fewer.
I think she sprained an ankle in the UCONN game. Hopefully she’s back Thursday.Sorry if already posed, I don't follow these threads that closely, but what is wrong with Kylie?
Well she’s not a post. She’s a Forward. She has been one of Jan’s worst developed posts. It’s hard to comprehend
Thanks SCI think she sprained an ankle in the UCONN game. Hopefully she’s back Thursday.
You catch the ball on a consistent basis with your back to the basket you are 100% a post player.Well she’s not a post. She’s a Forward.
One who is afraid, or simply refuses, to shoot anything but a layup.Well she’s not a post. She’s a Forward.
Had never seen her play, and she wasn’t what I expected. She was a huge recruit for Rutgers, but was suspended when we played them. I had read all sorts of bad things about her last year and assumed she would be a jerk on the court.McMiller was really impressive. #23
She's a post in a forward's body and she's been very effective at it over the last 4 years. No matter how hard Jan and co have tried to make her a WNBA-ready 4 (and i think she has the athletic ability to do so), she's proven she doesn't have the handles or shooting ability literally anywhere off the block to do that.Well she’s not a post. She’s a Forward.
#1 - The main reason we belittle these ladies is they get by with a bunch of hacking, shoving, etc that doesn't get called.Sorry guys to complain as I really love this group and check regularly for great information. I do have a problem however when we:
1–make fun of young people who are bigger than most of us. That’s super disrespectful to some young ladies who are very good players. We don’t need to go that low.
2–we are critical of the coaches when we don’t know the rules. We lose our credibility as experts.
Not all will agree with me but I’m just saying……..
She is a forward who plays in the post area. I also agree she has not really developed many post moves. For a person who gets her shot blocked routinely it is frustrating that she has not developed moves to get away from the shot blockers. She's just not big enough to shoot over the average post player and that is her only offense, other than running the court which she is outstanding at.You catch the ball on a consistent basis with your back to the basket you are 100% a post player.
This is exactly correct. She is a good defender and rebounder. She has zero offensive game facing the basket. She's a post in a forward's body and she's been very effective at it over the last 4 years. No matter how hard Jan and co have tried to make her a WNBA-ready 4 (and i think she has the athletic ability to do so), she's proven she doesn't have the handles or shooting ability literally anywhere off the block to do that.

Last nite either end of half or game, Ava was near the basket and got the ball from a pass, I think. The tall/big girl leaned into Ava's side/back -no call. Then she put her arm over the top of Ava's shoulder - no call, then as Ava shot she slapped down at the ball - no call. This last thing in other plays/games the announcers say anytime you slap down it is a foul, and happens a lot to AVA. Somehow these 2 get special treatment.
First offensive possession, 44 has her knee in Heidens backside and pushes her off balance. Nothing called, you knew they were going to let her go.I commented during the game after watching 44 constantly doing what you described, as dirty.
That is a very commonly taught defensive tactic. The real problem is when they allow the defender's arms to be extended pushing the offensive player off the position.First offensive possession, 44 has her knee in Heidens backside and pushes her off balance. Nothing called, you knew they were going to let her go.
It's just a function of the reffing in women's basketball being straight up trash.#1 - The main reason we belittle these ladies is they get by with a bunch of hacking, shoving, etc that doesn't get called.
