What will be the response if Iowa State wins in Iowa City again next season and has the same or better record like this past season?
If Kirk loses to an ISU Team that has had it's entrails laid on the ground and is introducing a new Staff , System and nearly entire new Roster with less than elite NIL and finances My answer will be it is time He hands the reigns to someone at the end of the 2026 Season

That person will wake up, look around, and say to his wife, I just had the worst dream... it was actually a nightmare.

Let’s not act like a coach retiring and setting up the program for the future is the same as one jumping ship for a way better program. While at the same time taking the best current players and recruits with him while leaving a raging dumpster fire in his wake. Face it, you got schlonged in an epic fashion. Trust the process
This is the state of Clown U football. If they get a ****** coach they fire him. If they get a good coach they can't keep him. Rinse and repeat. Will never be a destination job.

Did you feel that way in 2014 when he managed to lose at home to a team that finished the year 2-10? I did. KF has managed to lose to the *** Clowns 12 times in 26 tries. Anything is possible.

Considering Iowa is coming off 2 losses in a row, Kirks age now , the Game is at Home and all ISU will have had happened to its Roster I do not think 2014 is even in the same ballpark and then add in 12 Team Playoffs and the Iowa Schedule next Year getting thru the Non Conf 3-0 is mandatory

I don't like Iowa State and I usually hope for them to lose.

But still, I take very little pleasure in what's happened to them in the last few weeks. It's a smaller scale of happened to Drake in basketball. To have your program doing well and then receive daily bad news after the bad news that your coach left kind of sucks.

But since that have beaten the Hawks twice in a row, I'll get over it. ;)

Iowa St. will be okay. I'm sure they will get a ton of WSU players in return. They had some okay pieces but just seemed to not be able to put it all together this year.
Majority of players he brought from sdsu are graduating. Besides freshman barely any have allegiance to him since he was around 11 months compared to 10 yrs with Campbell. What ever they bring in won’t compare to what they lost. Especially qb with wazzu one graduating from last season.

Make it 9. 3 year starter on OL Brendan Black entered portal today I see along with a younger wr Parkes who has never seen the field today according to ON3 portal tracker.
I hope all these guys heal up. You know it was the ISU athletic department that told us they couldn't play in a bowl game because so many of their players were hurt they couldn't safely field a team to practice. So I imagine lots of these portal guys are all banged up. 😉 I hope they all get better so they can score some big portal cash.

Sitting back and watching this all unfold, Campbell had Iowa State in a pretty good place with a bright future with some good recruits. He left, arguably, at the worst time for them. The program was about to take a turn for the better; last year of Brecht, an excellent TE, and a defense that was gelling barring any injuries; they could've gone back to the Big 12 championship next year. But instead, it has crumbled to practically nothing. It could take years to get back to where they were at. Not that I'm complaining, I'm just kind of awestruck just how disastrous of a situation this is for them.

That 2014 game was a sH#t show of conservative not taking chances and letting ISU stay close. An abysmal loss, and that same year the hawks had two 17 pt leads against Nebby and let them come back twice.. That was my 3rd season of being done with KF, 2007 2012 and 2014. Kf got somewhat better with in game stuff

31 portal entries so far and the Recruiting Class is nearly gone

Speaking of that recruiting class....

Signing day was Dec 3. Matt Campbell (MC) signed his highest ranked class at Iowa State (22 players signed their letter of intent).

5 days later, on Dec 8, MC was named the 17th Penn State head football coach.

Ain't gonna happen. Iowa State isn't coming back around in the next few years. Losing almost the whole team and not having a big NIL budget to replace them, is going to set them back to the Jim Criner lows. The only way the Clowns have more wins next year is if they drop down to FCS and join Drake in the Pioneer League.
