Indeed. Wonder how the NIL deals for money from colleges are contracted? Hard to really specify "performance" in a contract given the variables (injury, poor coaching, difficult opponents, etc.). If a kid isn't cutting it on the field, and the coach benches him, doesn't that affect his performance in the NIL deal (who wants a jersey from a bench warmer)?

As far as the bowl games, I see those going away...when the audience isn't there. Right now, ESPN owns the postseason, so whether the bowls continue is really up to them. This, more than anything else, is most likely what will expand the playoffs.
Perhaps they could try to turn bowl season into an NIT type tournament?

Maybe.

You are still making the same mistakes. You round everything up.

Rounding up, Campbell is only a 7-5 coach the last 10 years.
It might be a good idea to compare Campbell’s 10 year record at ISU with Iowa State’s prior 10 years before he got there.

8 out of 10 winning seasons compared to 0 out of 10 is rather illuminating, doncha think?

I don’t think anyone would deny the truth of what Dabo was saying but it wasn’t something that could have been prevented. Paying players was going to happen. The US is a capitalistic society, gotta take the good with the bad, and paying college players is hardly the worst aspect of this society.
Correct, however pure capitalism suffers from a huge problem. The few get richer and richer and the rest, in increasing number, get poorer. Look around you. MLB is a great example, CFB increasingly so.

Didn't the 87 PSU/Miami Fiesta Bowl have 70 million viewers?
I dont ever remember hearing that number. I've heard/seen around 28, so maybe its just below those listed. I would think with the population being much lower 40 years ago, that the rating would be much higher than these games with more viewership

PSU - Miami Fiesta Bowl: Around 22 Million (May have been the record at that time)

Sure, you’re 100% correct. Not much we can do about it, though, and at any rate it’s not going to change. I’ll never stand in the way of anyone trying to make a honest buck. You gotta maximize your opportunities, especially these days.

I'd love a G5 tournament that declared a Champion
I still think post P5 kids would run from that especially given there's more games and more opportunities to be injured.

I am hopeful he's the guy. But O'Brien was going to be the guy and then Franklin was going to be the guy and both had credentials every bit as impressive as Campbell does. So, we'll see.

I hope so too. Everything I’ve seen, read or heard about CMC has been overwhelmingly positive…especially from a character perspective. I’m willing to give him a pass for a few years to right the ship.

BYW-I fully supported James throughout the years (in-game decision-making notwithstanding), but there were always some nagging me-first character things that bothered me…becoming the first AA coach to win a championship, constant rumors about him seeking a BBD, etc…but I always gave him a pass for that stuff, even though it bothered me.

…but his body language and sulking demeanor (again after an emotional loss) was kind of the last straw for me. Absolutely NO reason to lose to UCLA and NU. Then the childish Crumbl cookie thing after we lost Sitake just confirmed that it was the correct decision to cut ties with him.

All that said…LET’S GO COACH CAMPBELL!!!

Incorrect…it’s not a finite pie in capitalism and as the pie grows, more people have the opportunity to “get richer”.
