It's not a mid-major roster. Just because many of them started and/or were recruited to play at Drake does not mean they are simply mid major talent now. He's a good coach - he's not that good of a coach.
I'm not going to get into it, we'll just have to agree to disagree. There were zero HM offers to any of these guys, save Coop. Mac has coached them up and taught them how to play (surprising no one) and turned them into the team they are today.

He may have helped them develop - I'm simply stating they are not a mid major roster now. By your comment above, Stirtz isn't considered a major conference talent. That's an insult to the team by praising the coach. If each were to go into the portal after this season, how many of the top 8-9 do not get an offer from a power conference school?

Some examples:

* Diego Pavia, Vandy QB who was named SEC offensive player of the year and was runnerup for the Heisman, was a ZERO star coming out of high school. He spent two years in junior college. So is he still a zero star?

* And then there's Mr. Stirtz, of course.

* John F. Kennedy was a poor public speaker as a young man. By the time he was president, and still pretty young, he was one of the most eloquent public speakers of the 20th century.

People often improve their skills--sometimes dramatically.

There are great professors and great writers and great coaches working far under the radar. That doesn't mean they couldn't be teaching at Harvard or churning out best sellers or turning one of the worst college football programs in the country (Indiana) into a BIG champion and national title contender if given the opportunity.

Coach Mac may also be looking at the future and he can develop players like Cooper, Sage, and Jirak who are freshmen, hope to keep them around for another 3 years to build foundation for the future.. where Hausen is a senior.

In coaches mind, it might make more sense to focus on PT for the young up and comers than the one year hired gun.

Then the fact that the Iowa players, who (most certainly) were shown the door, played high major ball last seaon, means they would have made up a high major roster with the incoming class of high major players (as they were ranked as such).

But you completely discredited that line of reasoning over the summer. You claimed the guys who were brought in were clearly better players than the guys who were let go.

Now you're claiming Iowa has a mid-major roster, using logic that would classify the guys who were shown the door as high-major players. Again, you can't have it both ways.

You are quite literally the most insufferable person on this board, and that's saying something. You continue to have no idea what you are saying, but remain steadfast in your misguided opinions. I will never respond to you again, so kindly do me the courtesy of the same.

The ignore feature is a good thing to use. It avoids a lot of anguish!

he should be starting, gosh darn it! ;)
Do you watch the games?

This was the best energy Hoss has brought on D this season. And the difference between his D and pretty much everyone else Iowa is putting on the court, is still night and day.

Nice to see it improving though. I'd have no problem with Hoss earning himself more minutes. Fans doing the fan thing in this thread though

Hausen has a beautiful shot when he doesn’t force it. He is a shooter. Reminds me of an old Bearcat player from my youth….Ron Bonham..

Just from my in-person experience today, even though he hasn’t played much this year, he definitely is the main hype man and leads the pregame huddles and such. So he doesn’t seem to be sour at this point. He’s going to win us a game at some point with his shooting. You just hope he doesn’t blow a game with badly timed shooting either.

I think Ben really likes Hausen and he may have had an undisclosed injury that held him back early. I see his role continuing to grow in terms of playing time. Heard Ben talking about his leadership role just recently.

I think he earned himself more minutes with last nights performance. Im still of the belief that he isn’t getting minutes based on his shot selection and not so much his D. But the energy he brought last night was undeniable!
