Also not disorderly conduct. But say a word that hurts someone’s feelings then that’s not free speech, that’s disorderly conduct. Right dbdork?

What was disorderly about that other than the car spinning out that didn't touch anyone?

FYI, my cousin was in that crowd.

But say the wrong words and that is disorderly conduct. What a hypocrite.

what happened to the science, or have men's or women's skeletons changed since the '60's. It used to be that one way to determine genders was via skeletons.
I'm not saying whether he should've been put in prison or not (I don't think someone should just for being a bigot), but you'll notice that the scientific skeleton claim in the body of the tweet is much less salacious than the picture in the tweet (suggesting they are mentally ill) and I would guess what was actually said was more antagonist than just that description. So saying it was only for saying something about skeleton's is just rage bait. Once again, I am not saying all bigots should be put in prison, as people have horrible opinions all the time, and I do believe in free speech. But also, that tweet is clearly trying to make people even more outraged.

Yeah, it was the fluorish he added to it about LGBTQ people being mentally ill. Crazy that he would be imprisoned for that but it wasn't as simple as the headline would have you believe.

Just look at how many people on this board don’t believe in free speech. It’s shocking

Part of believing in free speech is believing that people can use rage bait. You don’t believe in free speech if you don’t think that should be allowed

Where did I say that? I am saying I don't respect it. I am just saying what was happening in the tweet and anyone reading it and then repeating elsewhere what the description says is being inaccurate. Which, I guess you do you, be inaccurate, try to enrage people based on falsehoods instead of the truth. But I am going to call it out when I see it. Have done it to the left leaners on here as well.

Ok. I’ll take you at your word. But why even type your last sentence? Sure seemed like a qualifier to me.

Anyway, I hope you believe in truly free speech.

People often get confused. For instance someone started a thread about how they were disturbed by censorship, yet it turns out they don’t really believe in free speech. See the “where my free speech people at” thread

Careful Huck- Pig Boi is gonna take you at your word, and REALLY hopes you believe exactly what he does. People often get confused, so definitely hit him up if you start feeling a lil confused about your stance on "truly free speech," and the free speech enlightened one can help ya

I typed my last sentence because the way that you believe in free speech, I believe that social media’s rage/engagement algorithm is the absolute worst and contributing to to the decay of discourse, the radicalization of people on both sides, particularly devolving for people who are deep, deep in online culture and in a downward spiral of rage. Where there is no longer any truth because there is so much misinformation out there.

So speech you don’t like.

Nobody said everything is great, but do you believe the those things should be censored?

Do you believe in free speech?

The way that “I believe in free speech”?

There is only one definition of free speech, and it’s becoming clear you don’t believe in it.
Stand strong my man. Stand up for what you believe in. Just say it out loud, you believe in censorship. Don’t be shy.

You don’t even need an algorithm, you just make yourself angry by just reading whatever you want in what other people are saying and then are astonished.
I’m not angry. I’m just surprised.

I see you have failed to answer the question.

You haven’t understood a single thing I’ve said or you’re purposefully trolling. So I see no need. I haven’t said a single thing should be censored by the government in this thread.
You are clearly passionate about free speech. I am passionate about other things. Doesn’t mean I don’t believe free speech is a good and founding principle of our society. We aren’t all passionate about the same things to the same degrees at all times.

Not sure why you are so antagonistic tonight.

I was engaging you honestly.

i think my question was legitimate considering you qualified your statement. ” I do believe in free speech, but …….

“Once again, I am not saying all bigots should be put in prison, as people have horrible opinions all the time, and I do believe in free speech. But also, that tweet is clearly trying to make people even more outraged.”

You either believe in free speech or you don’t. Even if tweets are designed to make people more outraged, that Is covered under free speech. There is no “but”.

My question was legitimate, I was just trying g to understand where you draw the line. And to be honest it’s still not clear where you stand.

While I disagree with Flaw at least he explains why he is in favor of censorship and stands behind his beliefs. I think he is miscalculating in that someone will draw the line in a much difference place than him and so it is best to err on the side of absolute free speech instead of mild or heavy censorship. Look to Europe today to see why. They are losing their countries and identity and many of them don’t even know it because they can’t hear the speech that’s deteriorating them. Over 12,000 people have been arrested this year alone.

Everyone should be able to exchange ideas freely or else the people in power will abuse that power.

It is really clear where he stands on the issue, you're just being obtuse.
  • He doesn't think the person should be in jail
  • He separately pointed out that content of his speech was misrepresented to make the situation seem more egregious than it really was
Two things can be true at once.

With regards to my personal views, not all slopes are slippery. It's famously a fallacy. I do not think we've seen degradation of free speech in this country because the FDA requires you to disclose allergens in food and it's illegal to hire a contract killer (even if you stiff them on the bill).

I believe our country is in a very good place with Free Speech overall and I'm pretty confident of that because all of these stuff you're complaining about is literally in another hemisphere.

Thank you. I hate misinformation and I hate things designed to mislead for the purpose of rage and engagement. And I can fully believe those things and be passionate about it without thinking people should go to jail for it.

The question is if you are ok with what’s going on in the EU.

My point is that if you allow the degradation of free speech like they are, then you can say you allow free speech all day (as they do), but you really don’t.

Once you allow an arbiter of truth, it’s going to be hard to get it back. And that’s why we have the 2nd amendment.

While the EU’s existence is not teetering yet, it is beginning to wobble. You are hearing a lot of gripes from some countries and you can bet your dollars that freedom of speech has something to do with it.

If that person is being imprisoned solely for a hateful message, I don't agree with that.

The only thing I think some of Europe does better than us (on speech) is having a more explicitly secular government but France very clearly takes it too far.

I don't agree with how Germany handles Nazi relayed activity but, given their history, I do understand it.

And the UK? 12,000 arrested for speech violations. Many arrested for saying men can’t become women. Many arrested for criticizing the government. Many arrested for criticizing mass immigration or supporting

It reminds me of how fast the Ministry of Truth the Biden regime tried to install and how fast that got slapped down. Americans won’t tolerate that.

Free speech should be the rule of law or else we will end up like Europe and the country may fall. If Europe doesn’t self correct I do believe the EU will dissolve. May take 10-20 years, but I don’t think it can exist with the current censorship regime. Same thing will happen in America.

This is what's so frustrating. I just said I don't agree with people going to jail simply for saying things. So have all of the other posters on this board. Why do you keep asking?
