Wow, is every WR, CB, QB that enters the portal going to be listed here? I'm sure our coaches will have a big board and analyze prospects to develop their short list.

I don’t think the team NEEDS any portal starters per se. I suspect they will heavily focus on depth and multi year guys to develop instead of getting bonafide starters

For DL they have Merrieweather, Allen, Hawthorne, and Epenesa. One of those guys will have to move inside- but there’s a starting 4 that we can run with.

On the OL little jones is waiting in the wing, Myslinski is back on an injury redshirt, and Dotzler can move from LT to RT.

LBs will be Reis, Buffington, and Montgomery.

Lee returns, Watson starts the other side. I think Godfrey might drop back and take X’s spot.

The returning receivers won’t we worse than what we’ve got, and they’re young at least with maybe some potential. Hecklinski and brown are ready to duke it out at starting QB.

I think they could rock with the current roster, continue their own development, and be fine TBH. Though I certainly won’t say no to any bonafide starters coming in. Except for WR, they need someone good. At least ISM caliber.
Good commentary but we certainly need depth on the DL. I do think we need some WR but I believe we have youth there that will be very good

So, under the new rules, the transfer portal doesn’t even open until January 2. Does anyone know what the point of this later window is? It’s certainly (and predictably) not stopping guys from announcing their intentions. Can players even be contacted (officially) until the portal opens?

I think we can all assume that a whole lot of recruiting is already happening. Seems like the Jan. 2 portal opening is a bit of a mockery.

Or perhaps I’m missing something.

It gets throught the first two rounds of the playoffs, so most teams will be done before guys have to enter. Otherwise you have like last year when PSU's backup QB (this year's Mizzou starter) had to decide and enter during the playoff leaving them without their top backup.

They are announcing for that window and basically having their agents contact the schools. I think it will be like NFL free Agency where this is the tampering period and when Jan 2nd hits you will see a lot of announcements.

The mad rush to secure your respective bag is going to be insane. Keeping up with it is going to be tough. 😂😭

He entered today.
I think MSU did hire Patty Fitz and he is not noted for really wide open offenses. He will be a defense first, ball control run the ball guy, with a good short passing game and not throwing a ton of deep balls. Marsh probably wants double digit targets each game

Well, we've heard this song and dance before, but Ferentz just noted that the hawks will be "very active" when the portal opens.

So reading between the lines and our needs heading into 2026:
-DE
-DT
-I assume some OL depth
-WR obviously
-QB if needed
