Does anyone have confirmation that this was the last time we face Nebraska on black friday? If so, why and does anyone see a big ten schedule for next year yet?
No it’s not changing. Still on Black Friday. The Black Friday game is set to change. Don’t know if next year is the year but this was announced awhile back when they added the west coast schools.
so happy once it’s gone. Ending the season with this much stress blows.
There will be a game the weekend after Thanksgiving, just don’t know if it is Black (and Gold) Friday or on whatever color Saturday is called. The Black Friday game is set to change. Don’t know if next year is the year but this was announced awhile back when they added the west coast schools.

I meant Iowa Nebraska won’t be the finishing game of the year. There will be a game the weekend after Thanksgiving, just don’t know if it is Black (and Gold) Friday or on whatever color Saturday is called.
Last weekend is rivalry weekend as I stated. It ain’t moving. Will not be Black Friday next year. Future is undecided at this point, although both schools have expressed interest in keeping it.View attachment 1036229View attachment 1036232
I agree, why would the BIG spend 15 years creating a rivalry that didn't exist prior to that, just to change the date and diminish it?Last weekend is rivalry weekend as I stated. It ain’t moving.
They won’t ever change the rivalry stuff and like it or not Nebraska was deemed our rival. Wisconsin has Minnesota. We are tied to themI agree, why would the BIG spend 15 years creating a rivalry that didn't exist prior to that, just to change the date and diminish it?
Apparently the Iowa-Nebraska rivalry just doesn't rank the same as those other rivalries, at least according to the post above yours (and I do remember reading something like that as well). Kind of bullcrap, if they are going to change it they need to explain why they feel they need to move the weekend the game is on. Some vague "because of the west coast schools" isn't going to cut it. I don't see them telling Ohio State and Michigan the same thing.Last weekend is rivalry weekend as I stated. It ain’t moving.
Well it’s technically a new rivalry. For years we ended with Minnesota for the pig. They were considered our rival. Granted, people in Western Iowa hated Nebraska long before they joined the conference, understandably.Apparently the Iowa-Nebraska rivalry just doesn't rank the same as those other rivalries, at least according to the post above yours (and I do remember reading something like that as well). literallyIt literally says that the game will be played in week 5 in 2026.
Hopefully, you are correct in 2027 and later years.
Next year's schedule shows nebraska 5th on the schedule but none of the big ten games have dates attached to them yet. I also dont think we finish the season with four road games and last one at Washington which that schedule also shows hahaliterally
If we're looking at the same site, they're in alphabetical order and split between home and away. The only dates set in stone right now is our OOC.Next year's schedule shows nebraska 5th on the schedule but none of the big ten games have dates attached to them yet. I’d lay a large sum it will stay the last weekend. Whether on the Friday or Saturday.Apparently the Iowa-Nebraska rivalry just doesn't rank the same as those other rivalries, at least according to the post above yours (and I do remember reading something like that as well). I was jabbing him for the use of "literally"Next year's schedule shows nebraska 5th on the schedule but none of the big ten games have dates attached to them yet. I also dont think we finish the season with four road games and last one at Washington which that schedule also shows haha
It also shows three straight road games to end the year which won't happenNext year's schedule shows nebraska 5th on the schedule but none of the big ten games have dates attached to them yet. That's the AI overview which is rarely correct in anything. It literally says that the game will be played in week 5 in 2026.

I guess that’s what I get for trusting the internetThat's the AI overview which is rarely correct in anything.
It should be Iowa State. The last weekend of the season is “rivalry” weekend, so yes it will be Nebraska.
Oregon v Washington
USC v UCLA
Indiana v Purdue
Ohio State v Michigan
Wisconsin v Minnesota
Illinois v Nortwhestern
Iowa v Nebraska
etc etc
Yeah, I'm not gonna trust the AI overview as the end-all be-all answer.I’d lay a large sum it will stay the last weekend. Whether on the Friday or Saturday.
They ain’t in the Big ten and ain’t our rivalIt should be Iowa State.
No ****. But we can beat them at the end of the year. They ain’t in the Big ten and ain’t our rival
I mentioned this tonight to family as well. End of the season is a much more cohesive Iowa and I'd wager they win 90% of those matchups. It should be Iowa State.
We ain’t going non con and end of a season. No ****. But we can beat them at the end of the year.
Spot on. Because I remember a group we were going to that game because one time group we could go because most of us couldn’t Black Friday. Wisc-MN was to be played instead and I remember Nebby fans and AD very upset. The IA-NE Black Friday game was supposed to take a hiatus ‘20-‘21. However, the pandemic resulted in a shuffled schedule and the game was actually played on Black Friday again in ‘20 (although it wasn’t the season finale). Then, the ‘21 schedule was revised because of the haphazard ‘20 season, and the game was played on Black Friday again, and has been ever since.
No further absolutes have been announced regarding the future of the game staying on Black Friday. The B1G ‘26 schedule has not been announced. Reports earlier in this thread about the game announced as moving to week 5 next season are hogwash; this mistake was made as the Neb game is listed 5th on lists showing Iowa’s ‘26 opponents, with no dates listed next to the B1G games.
So, at this point, nothing is certain about the future of this game staying on Black Friday. And I actually have no idea who actually makes the decision. But, since a break from the tradition was scheduled a few seasons ago, it is certainly possible that there could be another break at some point.
Every single season beginning with 2013 (not including 2020) has had a non conference matchup at the end of the season. We ain’t going non con and end of a season.
