They stepped up against a great defensive team, Baylor didn’t let them get any easy baskets and Iowa found a way to win. Great early season win and great confidence booster. Stremlow has ice in her veins.

In women’s basketball their defense will carry them and their shooting will doom them against quality opponents.
Iowa is really good and it is November. How many games has Iowa played close to a top team in November and we walked away feeling like we showed up well but just couldn't get it done? Baylor was Iowa in that situation tonight.
This game is going to give us a nice Baylor Bump in the next polls
Yep, she played against terrible competition in California and AAU ball. The entire time growing up. That’s how she got rated so high. I swear to God if you guys don’t stop this dumb **** I don’t even know what to say.
The obvious conclusion then, in spite of the win, we still suck! I respectfully disagree!
Yeah I was ragging on her about freshman mistakes (I now know she is a soph) but she has game.
I like her aggression and she's a problem in the open court.
It’s way too early to label her a bust, although nearly all 5 star players can usually come in and give up 5-6 points and and make a few great plays. There is nothing with her.

Chit Chat was 1/6 before she got hurt
Taylor was 2/8
Kylie was 1/3 and fouled out
Emily was 2/9 and had 6 turnovers.
Addie and Layla didn't score
And we we still beat a Top 10 team.
Hard to think they will have a lot of games where 7/10 people in the rotation have below average games.

Well, it's a low bar to show improvement at least and honestly, even with all of these mistakes, the hustle she provided at the end of the game made a big difference. Iowa was able to chew up a lot of clock with her out there. Obviously they can't let her do that every game though. Someone needs to make sure she understands how a bounce pass works before she sees the floor again and also that sometimes it isn't necessary to be going at speed 11.

She just needs experience and to catch up to the speed of the game. It's Jan's job to get her there and I believe she will.
They can win without Chit Chat but on this team she is needed, Stuelke doesn't suck she just hasn't improved other than her free throws and dribbling in 4 years, Rodriguez will settle down and be really tough in B10 league play, McCabe is a -1 during any games when they don't play zone, and Feurbach is the most athletic player we've had (yes, more so than Clark) and just didn't have a game that she should have.
I get she’s a freshman. I get the competition is tougher. But what have you seen that shows you she’s going to be great?
Rodrigues is a damn spaz on the court, but her athleticism shows. It’s easy to watch her and say, “she’ll be great once she plays under control.” Same with Ava a year ago. She flashed great touch and ability around the rim. She just needed time to become consistent.
I just don’t see anything from Deal.

Her play style reminds me of Tony Perkins a little bit. Hopefully Jan can coach some of the mistakes out of her better than Fran did Tony.
Wondering that myself. She played a lot of really good minutes last year and has more of a feel for the game than what others are showing. Thought she might come in earlier when Hannah got in foul trouble.
Quit ragging on Addie, she is a freshman playing like a freshman, look at Ava, she got benched for a few games last year it was so bad, but by the end of the year she blossomed. Addie played against great competition in high school, she is the real Deal, give her time, she will shine.

On D and on O, plus an overall attitude that she's not going to "fold" when **** hits the fan. Captain.
Maybe or maybe it's too much confidence. Sometimes, it's better to pass and then just play D if things aren't going your way offensively.
Ugly wins are when you let some scrub team hang around too long and eek it out in the end. Ol' Doodle contends there is no such thing as an ugly win on a neutral court over a Top 10 team sitting 12 places higher in the rankings, no matter the manner in which said win was delivered.
