Locksley is a good leader and great recruiter, but not a good head coach.Coach Locks has a very young team. If he gets fired, someone else will win 9+ games with his guys in two years. Nah, I take that back. In todays CFB, all his guys just get poached.
Excellent point. And I think the unspoken factor of how good a job is-- how easy is it to win there-- is more important than ever. I think Texas Tech with great NIL and playing in the easier Big 12 is a better job than half of SEC and Big 10 jobs out there. The freedom of transfer rules has also changed it all and (like me and others have said) has also shown us how ******* miserable a lot of kids were being stuck at a school (just like regular students, not everyone loves the school they are at, that is okay)
Now, any job that will help with a strong NIL is a good job.

Yep . That is why these situations rarely work out. I personally think most of these coaches( Fickle. Locksley . Etc.. ) are being kept because of the Dozen job openings this year. Just not a good year to look for a new coach. Who is Maryland going to hire to replace Locksley? Too many good openings for them to get a good quality coach this off season. (Not sure this is going to change. With all the money involved in college sports I think there are going to be fewer coaches with long term tenue at schools.)Losers of 6 straight.
My wife had one nephew (graduated) and now two nieces (Senior and Freshman) at Maryland. Finally, the youngest one who is the only one of the three who played sports in high school, basketball and crew, goes to Maryland sports. It was fun giving her a bad time about the Terps when the Huskers beat them in football earlier this season. Coaches like Cignetti and even Braun will find jobs in every cycle regardless of the openings. There are to many big Openings ( LSU, Florida.maybe FSU later ) even if those teams take A Elko, kiffin Drink from Missouri . Those jobs become open and a Maryland has zero chance to find a Braun or Cignetti they will take one of the bigger jobs. .And yet there will be coaches like Braun and maybe Cignetti who won’t get new jobs this year.
