I know you didn't mean to, but "Flogarous" is actually a pretty good nickname for when he's in the zone. He's a very good player and one of these nights is going to hit 4-5 threes.

Xavier is bad. This game has been very boring and I am not sure games will be that exciting all year. Iowa is going to have a tough time in the Big.
Uh oh, folks! Tippett1 from the Internet wasn’t entertained tonight! Would it make you happy if they brought out monkeys on a trapeze? Shot midgets out of a cannon? Did 720 slam dunks after cartwheeling down court? Shot 3s from half court? We just want to make sure you’re entertained, Tippett1. But first gfy you sffmf. F.

Go watch penn then if you think this is boring basketball
Assuming I want a Fran coached team is just dumb on your part. Fran should have been gone at least 5 years earlier. The game was boring and from what I have seen from the other games, this will be the style they play all year. Ben typically has a very short bench and only plays about 8 guys, so he has to play this way. If they win, fans will be fine. If they don't, fans will be calling for a new coach.

Wow, another internet tough guy. This is basically the Wisconsin style of basketball, which just about everyone complains about on this board, with maybe better efficiency.

Howard had one of those funky games. I think he will be just fine. Ben didn't seem to be upset in the post game presser following the game. He pointed out what has to be worked on and said that they will work on those aspects. I enjoyed the separation they achieved in the second half. He also said how important it was to have another guard (Combs) who could take some pressure off of the doubles that Bennett faces.

One thing I noticed was that Xavier got called for a lot of fouls that will not be called during Big Ten play.

Wasn’t perfect, never is. Iowa has the best coach in college hoops. Enjoy the ride
I’d didn’t watch much of the game, but my hot take is Ben’s worst day of coaching would still be 100X’s better than Fran’s best.

Watching Ben’s team (albeit limited data) also reminds me of just how bad Lickliter was and to a certain extent Alford (who we paid to learn on the job.) 😎

259 points in 3 games and 100 by the bench. I see a ton of movement on the offensive end and taking the first good open look, not forcing anything. I am not saying they are world beaters at this point so after the next two games we will see what we have agains top tier programs.....but this is a hell of a lot better than Fran ball. I am also encouraged he is starting to build the talent side...getting the young man from Tennessee Trey Thompson who will most likely have 4 years remaining and Ethan Harris out of Washington. All the while developing Jirak at center. Need to get a point guard (a couple I think...one in the portal and one 4 year guy). He DID take over a broken program and really had to get the guys from Drake to buy-in and he did. A couple of more recruiting/portal wins and play some tough ball this year, I think we are in great shape.

Hawks in a bit of a lull down the stretch. I’m sure Ben will address this.
I agree, but I think BM slowed play down because of the big lead, but JMO. Overall, Iowa was not at their best except for spurts of play.

Funny we're finding mistakes in a game we maintained a lead of 20+ for much of the second half. Jirek at the high post and Stirtz cutting to the basket might be unstoppable. Ran two consecutive sets last night and it was a thing of beauty.

The biggest difference from this years team compared to last years is our ability to cut to the basket, besides the defense, of course. Many games were lost last year when we had to settle for two-point jump shots simply because we didn't have a player who could create. Stirtz is the game changer. Stirtz is going to have a long NBA career. Dude can do it all - just wait until he masters taking advantage of the double-team.

Appology if this has been posted. What was the size of crowd last night? Thanks.

Well they look better, competition hasn’t exactly been stout though. I’ll tune back in in 2 weeks for the Ole Miss, MSU, Maryland, and ISU stretch. Go 3-1 through that and then I’ll be excited.
3-1 against 3 teams that Iowa will be 5-10 point underdogs? Seems a bit silly.

Next up: Southeast Missouri @ 7:30 PM on the BIG Network on Tuesday.
Yep. And as the resident SEMO grad on this board, I am again conflicted.

But probably cheering for Iowa. Haven’t seen the Redhawks play in years.

I’m trying to understand what is boring. The top 20 nba pick at pg, dunks, 3s, defense, blocking out for rebounds, or beating a big east team by 20 even though we played a flawed game?
