The biggest problem with our program is the fact it is stinking rich, while being one of the worst programs over the last 10 years. We are in the top 10 in total revenue despite never finishing close to the top 25, and often finish in the bottom half of college football. There is no natural accountability. On top of this there is a "culture" that exists that has to be met...the guy has to be a "Nebraska" guy, which means we get a bunch of meat heads like Trev, Scott, and his coaching staff that were nepo babies. There is zero professionalism needed because the worst that can happen is you get booed and have to go home to your gated mansion and private country club, and the earlier you get fired, the larger the unearned buyout. The Nebraska way should be hire a hungry, no name, make him work towards his 2nd contract, if it fails fine, start over. Clean house, everybody in the stadium for the last 10 years, gone. Load with incentives or once they prove something up the pay to be competitive. Our soft schedule has covered the poor coaching for two years, but that will end next year, and we will take pretty much anybody as long as we can fired them without major penalty...buyouts need to stop, there needs to be a well-paid general manager that manages NIL, Transfers, and PR and the head coach needs to coach players, positions, and play calls. The pay needs to be split between OC, DC, Head Coach, and General Manager...coordinators get one year contract, and are gone if they don't get the job done. Recruiting comes down to money now, no need for security for players. Get the best teachers and coaches and players will stay anyway. We don't want players who have to "like" their coach, or think he is "chill".
