Tigers win game one

Cleveland gets man of 3rd NO OUT
Bottom of the ninth nobody out trailing 2-1

Strike out,
slow chopper to pitcher where runner is caught in between third and Home for second out

and then a pop up.

It is unreal how hard Chapman still throws touching 102mph. When the Yankees loaded the bases on 3 straight hits, the fans were laughing at the Chapman they remembered having. Then somehow, he turned into Mariano, crazy.

Pivetta threw two bad pitches and loses.
I know that is the cliche. But he probably threw a bunch of other bad pitches that he got away with. And sometimes the pitches that are hit are actually pretty good, just better hitting.

Cubs go with opener in game 2 cause Imanaga was hammered by Mets last week.
1-0 padres heading to bot 1 .
Just draft all pitchers every other year or every 3rd year of the draft

Miller was clocked today at 104.5 mph. He's faced 8 hitters in the series and has struck them all out.

These Padre/Cubs afternoon games are killing me. 2:00 AM first pitch for me.
Not very confident about today. Yu's always good for at least two dingers.

I hope that we hear an explanation on why King didn't start. I understand about the injuries and all that but he probably could have given you a solid three innings. At age 40 and multiple injury and personal issues over the past few years Yu at times is throwing BP. Still under contract for three more years. I would have taken Randy Vazquez over him.
Plus good bye and good luck to Robert Saurez who is so terribly over rated. As someone who watched probably 155 Padre games this year I can tell you that he must lead the league in "at 'em" balls With his free agency looming the Pods can hand over the closer job to the guy who deserves it, Mason Miller.
Another wasted summer. Just hoping that the Pods can get me one WS championship before my time runs out. I don't want my kids hanging a "SD Padres World Champions 2038" pennant on my tombstone.

What will happen first??
The Padres win a World Series or....
Rutgers beats Penn State/Ohio State (either one will do)?

Some good match-ups in this round:

Yankees-Jays - division rivalry, two teams that were fighting it out for the division on the last day of the season.
Tigers-Mariners - Tigers reverse what could've been a historic, horrific collapse with clutch WC win. Raleigh gets a national stage in the playoffs.
Cubs-Brewers - division rivalry. Two teams and fanbases just a couple of hours apart. They don't like each other very much. Then there's the Counsel angle - going to Chicago from Milwaukee. He brought Murphy there, I believe because he was coached by him at ND - need to double check that one though.
Dodgers - Phillies - two of the best teams in the NL with a bunch of stars who hit a bunch of homers. Ohtani, Harper, Betts, Schwarber, etc.

I can't believe the Phillies bunted bottom 9 runner on 2nd no outs down 1. Even before the out i thought it was foolish, playing for a tie in the spot after coming back from down 3. It burned them

Snell dealing

Seattle on up 2-0

One of wildest plays ever in dodgers brewers game aided by Teoscar having no clue on how run the bases

O.T. on the O.T.

Padre manager Mike Shildt retires from base ball at age 57. This out of nowhere.
The scuttlebutt was that he was fed up with Preller and all his analytics. This will be their fifth manager in 10 years not counting interims.
Fun Playoff fact: Both Pat Murphy and Dave Roberts were both at one time Padre interim managers.

Crazy play and baserunners are at the full disadvantage. Did they show when Umps signaled ball was in play vs being an out or did they not signal anything at all?
I would think that the only thing a baserunner could have done on that play would be go halfway to see if it is caught. When he goes up and brings it in- even as the ball pops out, it seems to the naked eye that he still just caught it- I don't know if it was possible for a runner or coach to see it hit the wall.

Anyway- really just want the Brewers to win. And so tired of the Big Dumper or whatever they love to just keep repeating, to just go home too.

Wonder who S.O. has bet on to win that series?

The left field umpire, whose call it was, clearly made the safe call. Problem is, the base runners never saw him, since they aren't conditioned to look for the left field umpire.

Teoscar Hernandez, who was on third, clearly didn't understand the rule. He broke for home as soon as the ball touched leather, which is correct. When he saw the ball pop into the air, he unnecessarily went back to tag up again, which cost him the play.

The runners on first and second obviously thought the ball was legally caught. They went halfway, and then returned to their bases. While on TV replay the ball clearly hit the wall, I am sure that in real time from 250 feet away it was far less clear. Even the CF admitted he didn't know the ball had hit the wall. He thought it just popped out of his glove and he caught it on the way down.

Could've been a triple play if three outs were needed.

That wasn't the only controversial play. Bottom of the ninth, Brewers down a run, bases loaded, two out. Treinen has a 1-2 count on Turang. He badly misses with a curveball which is headed directly for Turang's legs. If Turang stands his ground, it's a tie game with the winning run on third. But he jumps out of the way. On the next pitch, he strikes out on a fastball up in his eyes.

Turang admitted he immediately knew that he blew it. He had just acted instinctively.

Best record in baseball meant **** except to get you into the postseason. It's whether or not you're hot. The Brewers really sucked, one run in each game, crazy. Pitching, pitching, pitching.

Dodgers just sleep walked through the regular season and turned it on for the playoffs. 9-1 so far.

Ohtani with 3 HRs and 10 Ks as the winning starting pitcher? That’s downright filthy.
