I;m afraid it's going to be a zoo out there and the media is playing it up.

The Euro's have won 4 of the last 6 with the 2 US wins as the home team. I believe the Euro's have a deeper, more experienced team in this format. Neutral site I'd go with them but think Bethpage and crowd will give the US the edge.

Agree that the Euros are the better squad. Of course I want the US to win but as long as the matches are close and entertaining that's all that really matters. Great golf is the most important thing.
Also agree that the media is playing it up especially Golf Channel who spent the entire afternoon highlighting that the US fans needs to be more vocal than when they were watching PRACTICE!!?? Annoying!

As long as we don’t get blown up in the 4 ball and alt shot format, Sunday could be fun. Because anything can happen in true match play. But my fear is Europe with their experience will make Friday and Saturday a grind for our guys.

I really hope the fans at Bethpage build an incredible atmosphere without taking it too far, but I’m pretty skeptical about that. Raucous, but respectful.

Europe is the better team, no doubt. Key will be to keep it close through Friday & Saturday foursomes/four ball. If we do that, I like our chances to win Sunday singles. But the Euros are always so good in team formats.

I feel like the Ryder Cup is comparable to the 1980 Miracle on Ice Olympic team in a way. The Euros are always built to win as a team, while USA is a bunch of great individual talent. We’ll see what happens.

Pairings for the morning foursomes (alt shot) have been announced. First pairing goes off at 7:10am:

Dechambeau/JT vs Rahm/Hatton (that’ll get the crowd fired up).
Scheffler/Henley vs Aberg/Fitzpatrick
Morikawa/English vs McIlroy/Fleetwood (on paper, that looks like a tough one)
Schauffele/Cantlay vs McIntyre/Hovland (maybe Cantlay will piss off Europe so much with his slow play that it will throw the Euros off).

The 1st two and the pairings of Scheffler/Henley and Zander/Patrick were predicted on Golf Channel yesterday. Guess they had more inside info than they claimed.

It's a long 3 days but match 1 is huge.

Large crowd already. Gotta love the NY fans. Bryson with a big birdie putt to take the lead.

Sending Morikawa out in the first session makes no sense. Hate the Henley Scheffler pairing in the alt shot format. Mostly from a personality standpoint.

Keegan’s got some work to do with his selections. Outside of Schauffle and Cantlay there is no familiarity and complementary play.

“Mighty” Bryson still winless
Don’t hate Bryson but his game translates horribly to alt shot. He’s comfortable with big misses but most of his partners would not be (unless they are responsible for it). Play him in 4 ball all you want. But alt is awful.

Agreed, which begs the question why was he out there this morning

Guessing Keegan thought he would intimidate Europe with his length. None of the pairings outside of Schauffele/cantlay make any sense. Awful pairings specifically for alt shot.

Everyone is a no show. Embarrassing how our best players show up small in these team events

Frequency of commercials are absolutely brutal.

Scheffler a complete no show….he’s gotta really challenge himself tonight.

Cantlay probably the only guy who is playing decent in both sessions.

Europe is made for this ****.

Crazy you get your teeth kicked in, in alt shot and you roll the same teams out. I hope it works out.

What made Keegan think English/Morikawa would be a good pairing? Neither has fire or a personality and they got blown out yesterday. Let’s put them back out there and expect different results.
Thought Zach was bad but shite Keegan may go down as the most clueless captain of all time.

1000% agree. The Morikawa/English pairing makes absolutely no sense today. Stubbornness of sticking to a pre-determined plan and not adjusting to the reality.

I think the powers that be in the US wanted the whole Keegan/Northeast/St John’s/Bethpage story too much.

I think it’s very telling that there is little visual support from the old guard of US golf. Keegan was an absolute mistake. Skipped over 2-4 more deserving captains. Don’t hate Keegan but his resume seriously lacks. And he is not the most well liked on tour, heard that from tour caddy.

For people that got their *** kicked twice in 2 days. Too many smiles between Morikawa and English during the handshakes. It was like they won.

If the US doesn’t squeak out a full point from this last match somehow (highly unlikely), I think they’re going to have to sweep afternoon four ball. Also highly unlikely. Tomorrow could a low drama Ryder Cup Sunday.

Very little team on this roster. It’s a bunch of individuals.

Looks more like a European sweep
Yea. Was hoping to switch channels after the RU loss and see Red on the board. But this team has no heart. Keegan really screwed up what should have been a historic home field advantage. How he was chosen as captain still amazes me.
As I said earlier the fact that none of the previous captains/players/vice captains are present should tell you what they thought of the pick.

this US team is an embarrassment! I don’t care about what you do individually but if you can’t handle Ryder Cup you aren’t a clutch player. The Europeans have putted better for the past 20 years that isn’t an accident!

So Viktor Hovland can’t go today. By rule, that means the USA and Europe halve that point, even though Harris English is perfectly fine and presumably wants to play? What kind of *** backwards rule is that?

Not that it will matter at all in the outcome this year, but imagine this being the case in a tight Ryder Cup?

I said the same thing to my wife. The rule should be put a replacement out there from the staff or forfeit the match.

And yes. Not going to make any difference.

Anyone know the record for lip outs by one team in the event? This USA team has to own it

Well, at least Sunday singles were compelling. Nice fight from the US today. This cup was decided by poor play and odd pairings on Friday and Saturday.
