No we don't. The problem is college football has been ruined. We are not a fit whatsoever in the Big 10, but I'll take the money all day long. Hopefully at some point the powers reorganize things back to a regional based model.Absolutely not. NU doesn't belong in the SEC and we'd find huge disconnect in culture.
NU has way more in common with the B10 than SEC.
Devaney was right to push us towards the B10
as long as it's 'build a team' via the portal and $$$$ spent, we probably need to stay in the conference..No we don't. The problem is college football has been ruined. My guess/what I think would make sense is that reorganization comes in a few years once the B1G/SEC breakaway from the NCAA/FBS and form their own thing. They bring along an additional 20-30 teams to fill into both conferences. From there, they will divide up the conferences into divisions that are geographically grouped. No we don't. Yep, I am thinking something similar, but think it will be a little bigger than just the Big 10 and the SEC. I think you are going to get a few teams from the ACC and the Big 12, but yeah we are thinking the same thing and then you can go back to a more regional type matchups in "conference play" and still have the national matchups as well. Will for sure be interesting to see what the future holds. My guess/what I think would make sense is that reorganization comes in a few years once the B1G/SEC breakaway from the NCAA/FBS and form their own thing. The way I see it: make it an NFL 2.0. The B1G and SEC are your AFC/NFC. Then all of your divisions are geographically organized. Create your schedules and playoff formats accordingly. If they bring 64 teams in total, they could divide 2 conferences into 4 divisions with 8 teams. Be easy to schedule conference crossovers.
Only hang up I see is the "preseason" or out of conference games. Do you takeaway all scheduling roles from the universities and make the schedules for them with 12 games within this new system playing only teams in the new system (like the NFL)? Do you allow them to schedule their OOC games, if there are any? Do you say no FCS, only FBS teams?
I'm not suggesting we leave, money is too great, I just more long for the old rivalry games;, but also see NFL JV system coming soon as Husker Carolina points out.as long as it's 'build a team' via the portal and $$$$ spent, we probably need to stay in the conference..
we don't however have to continue with an identity-less program that cannot do what it was once famous for doing.
I think they bring another 20-30 teams with them from the ACC/Big12 and the other good teams from the rest. But I believe it’ll be B1G and SEC that remain from the name perspective. They’ve been pretty much the only 2 leading this charge and their name (in my opinion) holds more weight than the ACC and Big 12. Plus the annual national championship between “Big Ten and SEC” in their 16 team playoff will sell the final nail in the coffin that is FBS football as we know it.Yep, I am thinking something similar, but think it will be a little bigger than just the Big 10 and the SEC. The Big Ten is where Nebraska belongs. I do not understand why anyone wishes the Huskers were back in the Big 12. It has become a second-rate conference. Does it make the Huskers any better if they beat a lesser opponent? Then join the MAC if that is all a team aspires to do. The Huskers have no connection at all to the SEC. Nebraska with Big Ten money has all the resources they need to become relevant and major player in college football. The only thing they have lacked since Tom retired is a really good coach. Bo won 9-10 games, but nobody liked him, and he got blown out in the big games. Callahan, Riley and Frost were all terrible coaches. Matt Rhule has yet to instill any confidence in me that he is a truly great coach. I think Matt is going to be 6-6, 7-5, 8-4 regular season kind of guy. I think Matt will be very happy with that amount of success. He may once in a blue moon top out at something like 10-2 but I will bet he does not have consistent years at that level. There is no curse, it isn't about Nebraska's location (It hasn't magically moved since Tom left. He recruited all over the map), it isn't that Nebraska lacks money from a Phil Knight type, it isn't because other teams have caught up with the strength and conditioning program, and it isn't about any other excuse we fans come up for why Nebraska is no longer a serious threat in the college football world. Only one thing counts. It is because the Husker have yet to fine a really good coach that will do anything it takes to win.
I was listening on the radio to some college football "expert" and he was talking about Oklahoma and how much change the Sooners are going through since joining the SEC. He was saying that it in the new era of expanded college football playoffs that we fans were going to have to adjust our thinking on what success is for our team. He thought undefeated and one loss teams will become rare and that losing three and even four games will become more common.
Huskers have absolutely no connection to the South and those good ole boy refs would homer them even more than what the BIG refs do.Honestly Nebraska has more connection with the SEC. We could be playing Oklahoma and Missouri every year.....

I don't think it will be that many. Just not many teams add value that aren't already in the B1G/SEC. I'm guessing another 10 to 12 teams will be added then the AFC/NFC style two league system with around 44 teams total.
We’d get our asses handed to us in the SEC as well.If we were winning, this would not be a conversation. Post TO, Nebraska has been incapable of winning championships in the Big 12 and B1G. Does anybody seriously think joining the SEC would be any different???
Horrible fit with the SEC but I agree that I hope somehow they go back to regional divisions or conferences. The travel now is ridiculous. No we don't. The problem is college football has been ruined. I love how people **** on the Big 8 when there weren't any superconferences back then.Id love if we could go back to the way things were. .
Agree to present format or shoot your voice loudly at the brickwall
Devaney wanted us in the B1G. I think we out grew our position in the Big 8 beating the same dumbshits every year.
No we're not. I predicted an NFL Lite in 2015. That's exactly where we're going. The B1G and the SEC still have to form their super League. It's coming! Most likely it will be around 24-25 teams for each conference. No we don't. The problem is college football has been ruined.
