Agree with this take. We all want to be Elite but the worst thing was the near 25 year coaching carousel of bad coaches like OP stated. A rebuild was necessary and like or not we are stuck in the Big-10. We have to build the roster to fit the Big-10. We have the QB and WRs. Really need another RB and some dudes on both O-line and D-line to take it to another level. The problem with Nebraska has nothing to do with the conference. It has nothing to do with Texas recruiting. The problem with Nebraska has been some awful coaching and administration in disarray.
Also, Nebraska doesn’t fit with the southern rednecks.
Yet both Texas and Oklahoma are finding success. The SEC doesn’t show blatant favoritism towards their original members like the BIG. Their only priority is striving to be the best football conference in the country.I’m not 100% sure about this. SEC is just as proud as the Big-10. I don’t think Texas or OU are all that welcome since joining the SEC.
I hate the Big-10 but SEC top to bottom is alot tougher football conference. Can’t we just start over and go back to the Big-8 and play OU every year? Sigh
I like the freshmen and redshirt freshmen linemen we’ve recruited but damn it’s tough to start 2 year guys in your lines in the P4. People need to chill and let this season play out. Those young guys got a lot of snaps against Akron and HCU but it’s unrealistic to expect them to supplant experienced starters. Tackle is where we need better play and that would be asking a lot of a freshman.I hated moving to the Big 10 but it is what it is. We can’t leave now. There is no reason we can’t be successful in this conference. Barry Alvarez ruled this conference for a while. Iowa wins 8-10 games a year. If you can’t recruit 5* players then you have to coach up the ones you recruit. The biggest thing I don’t understand, is how our coaches thought our offensive line and defensive line could compete with big time programs.
What is our record in November over the last 10 years?I would love to see some SE Conference teams come to Lincoln in mid November. Watching them freezing their butts would be hilarious. They, the SEC, rarely play a game outside of the South.
I think sense is going to win out eventually. The power 4 will form 2 conferences, then one. Then divisions will be created out of the conferences that are regional, and we will be in a division with Colorado, Kansas State, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa State, Iowa. Winner goes to the playoff, and the others compete for a wild card spot. This temporary madness, will be just that...the costs of travel, of losing attendance and viewership due to lack historical hatred is going to weigh on the sport. Most people are clickbait kings and they know Nebraska fans will pile on. I like the Big Ten and think Nebraska is a good fit; much better than Oregon, Washington, USC, UCLA, Rutgers and Maryland.

How so? They lost to Georgia twice, once in the regular season and once in conference championship. The SEC literally bent over and gave Texas the easiest schedule possible last year.....
Idk...it just kinda gets old to me. Not only that but it usually happens right after Nebraska loses a tough game. People coming out of the woodworks with these things. It reeks of tucking your tail and running because you can't win. I could be wrong tho....
Holla
If Nebraska would start winning more games and not losing 28 in a row to ranked teams, or losing to lousy iowa at the end of each season, they might gain some value and respect. Until then..Nebraska would probably be treated as a valued member instead of a redhead step child.
Sure, but I don’t see it happening this year unless drastic changes and improvements are made this season. If Nebraska would start winning more games and not losing 28 in a row to ranked teams, or losing to lousy iowa at the end of each season, they might gain some value and respect. Until then..
Nobody thinks you retards are hicksWe had the same issues in the Big 12. No reason to think the SEC would be any different. Our peers hate us because we stomped them for decades. The rest of the country sees us as hicks. We won't ever be truly welcome anywhere.
Which one are you? Oh wait, both.Nobody thinks you retards are hicks

Bunch of liberals and also the weirdos in Iowa and Wisconsin to deal with.We fit in much better culturally than the liberal bureaucracy of the BIG. Let’s not forget our fellow peers Wisconsin and Michigan spitefully voting us out of the AAU as a “welcome” to the conference. Meanwhile PSU has much worse academics than NU and is still a member. Or the whole Covid debacle when OSU was allowed to have a descending opinion but not lowly Nebraska.
You may think Nebraska is a good fit, but the original conference members don’t. They resent the “new” members including Penn State. Bunch of arrogant pr!cks at the original members. Most people are clickbait kings and they know Nebraska fans will pile on. I like the Big Ten and think Nebraska is a good fit; much better than Oregon, Washington, USC, UCLA, Rutgers and Maryland.
plenty will disagree with this. that's fine.
but, he's 100% right and everyone with a brain has known it for a decade.
culture matters.
Not only is it antiquated it’s just another excuse. I’m sick of watching everyone else have success at some point. Now here we are where people are making posts of being in a conference division with Iowa Iowa State Kansas KState. I’m not living in the past but thoughts like that make me want to vomit. For christs sake that’s who we are now. Too many people along the way in the program didn’t give a f- - k about positive results.just an example:
60% of Michigan's starting OL are Redshirt Freshmen or Sophomores
100% of Michigan's 2nd team OL are True/Redshirt Freshmen or Sophomores
this line of thinking is antiquated
Seriously? LOLWell…you’re definitely on the right board….you lasted all of three days on The Platinum Board before getting banned.
Have fun in the S. Callahan ghetto.
.
“Banned”Seriously? LOL
Those guys were being recruited by Harbaugh as they were contending for national championships. Our redshirt freshmen and sophomores were being recruited while we were in a 6 year losing record streak. Do you believe we were able to recruit the same caliber of linemen that Made Chicano was getting at that time?just an example:
60% of Michigan's starting OL are Redshirt Freshmen or Sophomores
100% of Michigan's 2nd team OL are True/Redshirt Freshmen or Sophomores
this line of thinking is antiquated
The entire conference is like thatThose guys were being recruited by Harbaugh as they were contending for national championships. Our redshirt freshmen and sophomores were being recruited while we were in a 6 year losing record streak. Do you believe we were able to recruit the same caliber of linemen that Made Chicano was getting at that time?
Especially from a coach (Rhule) who only talks about the trenches of the Big Ten.I hated moving to the Big 10 but it is what it is. We can’t leave now. Are you insinuating we would’ve won 13 games with Texas’s schedule last year? The SEC literally bent over and gave Texas the easiest schedule possible last year.....
plenty will disagree with this. that's fine.

Didn't read every word of every post, but are there really people who think the B1G is good for NU? Other than a little extra money that has amounted to jack **** for us? Seems like a lot of people in here arguing with the OP. The move to the B1G has been the single worst mistake NU has ever made and it's not even close. How dumb do you have to be not to see that?
sports are where he startedI thought he replaced Rush L. He also does sports? Wide range there.
The move to the B1G has been the single worst mistake NU has ever made and it's not even close.
For certain we are better off than having stayed in the Big 12, it is a shell of the conference that we left. At that point in time moving to the Big Ten wasn’t a mistake…..15 years later looking at results says that it was but we escaped instability and drama around the big 12 fallinh apart.Quite a few things that are big mistakes.
Osborne promising to retire so Solich could become HC.
Forming the Big 12 with the 4 SWC teams, they should have joined the Big 8 with the Big 8 rules, Formation of the BIg 12 was a colossal mistake that started a lot of this crap.
Frankly I don't think moving to the B1G was a mistake, I think it is a better place to be than the SEC and certainly much better than staying in the Big 12.
