I believe Gronkowski is better than Brendan Sullivan. However, I assume Sullivan would have cost like $100-200k. Given Gronkowski is getting $2m, would we have been better off with Sullivan plus ~$1.8m on receivers / defense?

My opinion is yes. It feels like Sullivan can run just as well. He is slightly worse of a passer but it doesn’t seem to even matter at this point.

Brendan’s QB IQ is definitely lower than Gronk’s, but in hindsight pushing Brendan out the door and paying a gimpy Gronk his generous salary is looking more and more to be a colossal F up….

No way is Gronowski a better passing QB than Sullivan at this point. It's not even close. His passer rating is horrendous. He can't locate receivers. His accuracy is terrible and he displays zero touch. Sullivan completed over 70% of his passes and 9 yards per attempt with a 154 passer rating. Gronowski is hitting just over 50% of his passes with a passer rating of 84. He's averaging 3 freaking yards per attempt. He's been simply awful, the worst passing quarterback in the Big10 and it's not even close. Anybody claiming that Gronowski is better than Sullivan at this point is high.

I said this weeks, if not months ago: Brendan Sullivan should have been retained and been the starting QB this season. Sullivan showed his running skills last season, and he would have been even a better passer this season. He NEVER looked as bad as Gronowski has in any aspect of the passing game. And dump the damned Shanahan system. It's WAY too complicated, which is why nobody else in college football tries to run it. Lester is delusional if he thinks he can do something no one else can, and he keeps proving it every week. But it's ultimately KF's responsibility, and he's failed year after year after year after year after year. It's sickening, disgusting, embarrassing to see one of the best defenses in college football being thrown off a cliff because KF has no understanding of anything about modern offense. And worse, he doesn't care enough to do anything to actually change it.

KF needs to retire or be fired at the end of this season, and a new HC needs to be brought in, one with no Iowa ties, and one who understands it's both legal and advisable to have a competent, mobile QB who can pass and receivers who can catch. Everyone in the country already knows that except KF and Iowa.

Let me throw in one other tidbit….MG has had MUCH better pass protection as well….I honestly think the game is moving too fast for him at this level. Unfortunately KF is too stubborn to ever admit he was wrong, so expect to hear 3 more months of ‘we feel he gives us the best chance to Win’…🤡

being a QB for the hawkeyes makes little difference

you are just asked to be a game manager, hand off the ball and throw a few 7 yard passes but don't turn the ball over
