Two interesting stances on beer at memorial stadium. Tom wanted alcohol sales banned on Sundays in Nebraska and Rhule seems more like Scott Frost when it comes to beer. Who did it better?

I’m hoping to see some fights in the stands this year no matter the affiliation. Our motto this year should be “FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT!”

We all know why Scott wanted alcohol permitted. Tom wanted absolute control over the program and in abbreviated words, he believes that nothing good comes from alcohol. Alcohol leads clear minds to do dumb things. He saw it first hand and so he fought for his stance

Eventually, the sale of alcohol will produce dividends.. just not the kind that I want to invest in. While the administration can try to continue the best fans narrative, the fan's behavior will ultimately become a new normal.. and that result may not be flattering.

I don't drink alcohol but recognize it's widely accepted socially. Out of curiousity, I asked AI what percent/how many fans would be expected to consume alcohol/become legally intoxicated in a football stadium, using the following factors:

11:00 start time, with an earlier tailgate timeline and factors such as game significance, team performance and regional drinking culture:

2:30 start time with same factors including longer tailgate timeline, etc.;

6:30 start time with same factors including much longer tailgate timeline, etc.

The game time/game weather condition also factored in depending on a nice weather day, cool day, warm day, hot day, cool day, cold day and frigid day. It seems the hotter or colder it is, the less consumption there tends to be. My experience is a drunk is a man for all seasons.

Pardon the pun, but the results were staggering.

I drink and have drank in Memorial Stadium. I believe the difference will be less pounding of drinks at tailgates before and with the option of beer during the game, less hard alcohol smuggled in. People that are hell bent on getting wasted will always do so but I think removing the scarcity during the game could ease tailgate binging.

I expect that the fan experience will be worse at the expense of making more selling alcohol. The jackass drunks get more drunk. The clueless dipshit crowd will come sober and then get drunk at the game. A few fights in the stands. More people getting up and going for beer or the bathroom. Drunk guy spills beer on the young girl in the stands. Fun stuff.

I'd just have alcohol in the skybox/club areas..this way folks pay for it, and you still have a kid friendly environment, in most the stadium.
it does bring money but then it brings some bs too..

It's reported that Clemson sold @ 45,000 drinks in their opener against LSU and generated 467K in revenue.
NU will likely sell in he 45K range.

If that’s true, that tells you a lot about our age demographics at the stadium, which should be alarming.

So much booze being served. I was at the Hawks pregame thing and damn. Some tables were piled with empties.

Saw so many people buying booze in bulk

Why the heck are you at the game if you are that inebriated? What's the point? It makes money... But damn.

Do you people even enjoy the game? Do you even understand what the heck is going on? Are you even capable of it?

Why are you putting people at risk that drive home from the game?

Thank you

Not the university's job to babysit idiots who drink and drive. Those people are driving regardless of where they get the booze.

Why do people drink? Because it's fun.

I purposely don't take my kids to games like CU last year, but I certainly don't expect other fans to drink less or not at all because of me. People will adjust.

Everyone's mileage varies. My day drinking enjoyment has diminished substantially over the years, and so a couple of beers at a tailgate suffices. And let's face it. If you love to get loaded and you like football, you love getting loaded at a football game.
