It was a joyous, harmonious and loving chat room this week. Not sure what happened. But it’s good.

Thanks for reading in advance. Here we go.

1 - That we need to fast forward to Hersey-Prospect.
2 - That the flag got some of the swag.
3 - That I don’t know - something, something, Neuqua Valley, something something……
4 - That Simeon represents the Public League well.
5 - That preseason rankings are a guessing game and many of us guessed wrong on Cary Grove.
6 - That fast forwarding to Loyola Mt Carmel week 9 would be appreciated by the other Catholic League members
7 - That I don’t think teams from Missouri want any part of all gas and no brakes
8 - That Miles Osei has Elk Grove 2-0 for the first time since Edgy and Quags road the school bus together.
9 - That offense is disturbingly not part of Naz football this fall - at least not yet.
10 - That Palatine is clearly beat in the (MSL) West. Could be a rough year in that conference.

That’s all folks enjoy the weekend. Last weekend without NFL until 2023!

12. What is going on in Winnetka? Outscored 66-7 in the first two games with Palatine looming next week.

That the West Suburban Gold & Silver conference title races are shaping up to be equally exciting - for opposite reasons. Silver is a combined 13-1, Gold is 1-13.

While the Silver caliber of play may not be up to the standard of the big boys - there will be some matchups of undefeateds come Weeks 5/6 no matter how things shake out. OPRF and LT will both get a real test this week (vs. GW and HC, respectively) - if either is legit, could be a 4-horse race for WSS title.

The Flag defense is still really good and the offense has balance. Another RB that can take it to the house 🏠 once he gets to 2nd level. Home of six flags still has lots of talent.

Let's see how the rest of the season plays out.
It was a two part comment. 1st they don’t duck anyone. I can agree with this comment. The 2nd comment was they could hang with anyone in Illinois. They just proved they couldn’t hang with ESL and what makes anyone think they can hang with the top teams in the state.

Or maybe look at it in a different way.
I think the elite teams in this state can hang with many of the top teams in the country. Can Loyola East GBW Mt Carmel Maine South etc beat CBC? Absolutely. This is becoming a tired argument every year. Just because teams don’t play OOS teams doesn’t mean they’re afraid or not talented enough. I would ask what would it take for ESL to play Loyola or East or Maine south or Mt Carmel? It’s cool they play all these nationally ranked teams but I think it would be super-sexy if we got some of the states best to keep playing the states best.

whether it’s down there or up here shouldn’t matter.

They literally just proved they can NOT ”play with anyone in Illinois no problem” by playing ESL, which is in Illinois, and caused them a massive problem.

I think the ESL guys have stated before that they try to play those guys and get no traction. I personally remember prior to last season ESL looking for week 1 and 2 games. We'd all like to see those games happen.

Yea, the question of who's ducking whom has been around here awhile. Frankly I don't care about the national rankings, I just care what happens inside IL anyway.

I dont necessarily think it's ducking but when you pass up that game and start the season with 8 then I raise my eyebrow like The Rock. Personally I think we have openings in week 1 and 2 next year, and hope our AD would call East Side about one of those weeks, if not the Flyers at least ask about the The Classic week 2 and see who they could get.

Citation please,
If you’re simply thinking they are purposefully avoiding out of state foes then touché- it’s a silly argument. You can’t tell me your team actually fairs better overall because they play OOS foes. I think history shows that not to be true - recent history.

And Lincoln way east and Mt Carmel and Maine south and warren didn’t. And it will have zero effect on whether they win a state title or don’t.
You are looking for something that is not there. I’ve never said they would not play OOS foes. I even cited LA as an example of Chicago teams willing to play OOS. LIKE JCA did on week one.

Not sure of your point. I still believe CBC would fare just fine year in and year out with the IL elite. We can include Warren in that conversation.

Lordy Lordy, you salty.

In 2008, ESL beat GW in a great 7A semi-final game. I think it was the game that got the GW program rolling. I'd love to see GW and ESL play more often. My guess is, that the reason it doesn't happen has more to do with the 5 hour drive both ways than fear of one another's program.

If I understand correctly, they get four non-conference games. Weeks 1-3 and 9 are open.

The first time they play an IL team is week 4 and week 9 is DeSmet, which did not match up well with IMG.
