Still a 5-4 team. Just ran through the classes looking for 5-4 teams with a shotHe said upsets.
Definitely not dominant, but I would say that BG is the favorite in this game.Is Buffalo Grove dominant? LWW has been on a roll lately
I can see this happening. McAllister has the Eagles rollingSandburg over HC!
Anyone? I don’t know enough about Cahokia and have we all saw the beat down of Rochester against LA. Hard to know how Rochester stacks up to other good 5A teams. Just being honest.Cahokia over Rochester
That bites. How many are seniors?I don’t know if I would call it an upset but lower seeded 5-4 St Patrick will probably upset higher rank Sterling 7-2
Sterling has 12 players out injured including 5 that play both sides of the ball.
It could be an upset even with all their starters but without them it could get ugly.

If you want to check out a bit of Cahokia you can pull up their game this year vs Marion on youtube. Cahokia spreads the field playing 4 wide a lot. They have a decent lefty QB who is pretty accurate. Their RB is an athlete who when in the open field is gone. Their WR's are all just like the RB. They have decent size on the lines. I haven't seen Rochester but I know Marion was ranked pretty high in 5A and they didn't even look like they belonged on the field with Cahokia.Anyone? When are you getting banned? When is the SAT?
Crispy why are you so adamant about him being banned? I don’t see it happening nor should it. Is this site for different opinions and some banter? When are you getting banned?
Made me chuckleWhen are you getting banned?
I’m really not Corey. He really rubbed me the wrong way when he mused at another posters deceased father. I wouldn’t know the guy if he were standing next to me. I just have zero tolerance for wannabe tough guy- cyber bullies.Crispy why are you so adamant about him being banned? I don’t see it happening nor should it. Rochester beat SHG, Chatham Glenwood, Springfield, & Jacksonville.... all 5A or better play-off teams. Before you say it, SHG gets the multiplier and typically plays 5 or 6A.Anyone? Remember the time the Mud Dogs went to Bourbon Bowl? That only happens in the movies. Cahokia has 2 forfeit wins and 1 forfeit loss. They beat an 8-1 Marion team which has a poor strength of schedule. Whereas Cahokia has a barely serviceable strength of schedule. In the meantime, Rochester plays "up" all season, only playing one 4A school until the play-offs. The games are played on the field. But the numbers leading up to the game don't lieCahokia over Rochester
lol...well played.When is the SAT?
Cahokia has 2 wins by forfeit and 1 loss by forfeit. Rochester passed on a forfeit by a non-play-off school and travelled 3 1/2 hours north to play an 8A school. They got thumped and the next week played their cross town rival SHG. The game was not as close as the score indicated. Rochester and Cahokia are not the same.
You want to know something that might surprise you? Calpreps has Rochester and Cahokia Strength of Schedule only 3 points apart. And that includes the Loyola game. Take it out and Cahokia would have played a tougher schedule. The 3 forfeits are games Cahokia would have won by running clock had the games been played. Cahokia played a killer non conference schedule in Missouri and Kentucky and played them all very close. The Kentucky team would be a title favorite in 4A or 5A in Illinois and they took them to OT.Remember the time the Mud Dogs went to Bourbon Bowl? That only happens in the movies. Is Buffalo Grove dominant? LWW has been on a roll lately
In recent non-cons and Round 1 playoff games, LWW and LWC have not fared too well against upper-half of the Mid-Suburban East teamsDefinitely not dominant, but I would say that BG is the favorite in this game.
The only caveat I would give about Calpreps is it does not take into account covid forfeits. It literally thinks Cahokia lost to Carbondale 2-0, a game Cahokia would have won by a running clock. Calpreps shows Marion a 5 point favorite over Cahokia. Cahokia beat Marion 30-8, a game that was 30-0 till a late Marion score. Take out of that what you want.Cahokia played their best opponents the first four weeks of the season. The last five weeks have been three forfeits and two blowouts of non playoff teams. I don’t know if this means they are less beat up than teams which have played 9 games or if they could have some rust issues Saturday. They obviously aren’t a typical 16 seed, and Derek has already said as much in today’s SJR.
I tend to rely on CalPreps a little more in the playoffs than in the regular season. They project Rochester to win 35-24 at a neutral site. I’ll go on the record tomorrow with my prediction. Remember, I picked Rochester to beat Loyola in Week 2 after a large glass of Koolaid.
PS Ratsy, we‘ve never met but I appreciate your analysis and consider you a friendly rival.

Another aspect of the matchup is pace. I watched the Marion game and the Cahokia defensive line had their hands on their hips in the 1st half against a slow Marion offense. The right side d end is quick and strong. The dbs are fast. However, more plays in less time means less chance to catch your breath. That said, Rochester scores so fast, the Comanches may have a chance to catch their breath while resting on the sideline. That said, St. Rita had the same issue in the 2019 5A final against Rochester and it showed as the Rockets built a 42-7 lead midway thru the 3rd quarter before letting off the gas. Your Cyclones play at a similar pace albeit giving a little more focus on the running game due to your large o line.All..... I like Rochester by 21 plus. Coach Leonard will play two or three rb's and at least two qbs. QB Beatty will rush and throw for a lot of yards. When that is not happening different formations will be cycled in with a new qb and rb that will create confusion (which it's meant to do) for the Comanche defense.
Cahokia is extremely fast and athletically talented. They will score points maybe a lot. But it won't be enough to win. Ratsy
Marion's offense was slow to the line, with poor blocking from the receivers. It was also very predictable. That slow pace allowed the Cahokia d line to catch their air. 1st thing I noticed in the 1st quarter were hands on hips and chests puffing, indicating fitness levels are low on the line. right end is fast and strong. But was sucking air in the 2nd quarter against minimal skill from the left tackle. The only caveat I would give about Calpreps is it does not take into account covid forfeits. Probably Wouldn't have mattered what day/time the SAT was. Sterling running clocked ST Viator that year. But let’s not start that again….When is the SAT?
