Major oof. The Fever were a Sophie three away from being up 16. Now it's down to 4. They were rolling and now look awful.

Kelsey is ice cold today. The game would be over if she could just hit a single shot.

Whew!!! Seattle got a few open threes at the end to tie the game, but they missed. The game should not have been that close at the end, but another good road win for the Fever. That's five straight wins and a 17-12 record.

Now, it's on to LA to face a Sparks team that has given the Fever a ton of trouble.

Agree on all counts. Health permitting. PB will be a top 5 player in the league. She's super versatile, and consistent. Probably more consistent then CC22. CC22 has her as an elite passer and she has the WOW factor.
Clueless. Let me know when she gets guarded like CC and whips out some triple dubs.

Pull your panties out of your crack. They're making you cranky. I NEVER said PB was a better overall player than CC22. NEVER said that. Clarks ability to both be an elite passer/scorer make her a unicorn. That doesn't even mention her marketability. I've also mentioned several times on THIS thread that NO ONE gets guarded like CC22. Maybe you should stop cherry picking comments. That doesn't change Buekers also be a very good/elite player. She may be the first 50/40/90 player in the league. She's that consistent. CC22's crazy threes certainly change the defense, but even she will probably never average over 40% from three because of the distance she shoots from. Those are are just facts.

Clark, Mitchell, Hull, Cunningham, and now Chloe Bibby. Dantas ialso has decent accuracy from long range. That’s a team with a loaded and potent 3PT shooting lineup.

As long as Boston and Howard stay healthy, assuming Clark returns soon, I still maintain that Indiana is a legitimate contender for a championship.
Lynx are head and shoulders above everyone right now. Granted Vegas isn't Vegas anymore but they just beat them on the road by 50. Besides that I wouldn't disagree if CC can actually stay healthy when she comes back as New York without Stewart clearly isn't the same. Guessing at some point she's back and they probably end up the 1 seed in the East, but the Fever have really improved their team with some of these late additions. Still don't really have any kind of backup for Boston if/when she gets into foul trouble. Dantas is ok offensively but horrific defensively.

Bueckers has been better than I had imagined, especially being thrown into a shitshow of a franchise. Kudos to her. I see they also traded our favorite girl Dijonai to the Lynx. Don't know where she fits in on that team but unfortunately she's going to get a ring.

Even without the same level of pounding that Clark takes the big challenge for Paige will staying healthy. All of her leg injuries in college were non contact. Playing way more games and more physical as well.....

Her mid range game is pretty damn sweet. And while she hasn't gotten near the physical treatment CC did ( nobody ever has) I still thought the physicality of the W would be a little much for her. It hasn't been. She really knows how to get to her spots.

Sophie spills on what her Mercury teammates & other players were feeling and saying last season; the animosity continues this season.

What follows is just more proof that Caitlin has had a target on her back from day 1 and that a lot of players simply cant stand her (for many ridiculous reasons, of course).

The story from ESPN:

Sophie Cunningham torches critics of Fever teammate Caitlin Clark

July 31, 2025

When it comes to the face of the WNBA and the player taking the league to new heights, the Indiana Fever's Sophie Cunningham minces no words.

Cunningham says critics of teammate Caitlin Clark don't just come from the stands or via social media either. There is a resentment from players in the league that the seventh-year guard finds abhorrent.

"It literally pisses me off when people are like, 'She's not the face of the league.' What?" Cunningham said on her new podcast, "Show Me Something." "There's really good, well-known people in our league. I'm not discrediting them. We have a lot of badasses in our league. Hell yeah to that. I'm all for that. But when people try to argue that she's not the face of our league or our league would be where we're at without her, you're dumb as s---. You're literally dumb as f---."

Cunningham was with the Phoenix Mercury last season, when Clark was a rookie, and said teammates planned to zero in on the young star player.

"I know the talks Phoenix had in their locker room
of, like, 'We're going to show her what the W really is,'" Cunningham said. "I get it to a certain extent. Every rookie coming into the league, that's how you're going to treat them. But there's just more for her. It's her second year. Now being on her team and seeing it, I'm like, 'What are people doing?' It's just too much."

Cunningham came to Clark's defense on the court earlier this season in an incident with the Connecticut Sun's Jacy Sheldon and Marina Mabrey.

Clark has been limited to 13 games this year because of multiple leg injuries, and her 16.5 points per game are below her 19.2 mark over 40 games last season when she was named WNBA Rookie of the Year.

But within those 13 games was a matchup with Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky that drew 2.7 million viewers, making it the most-watched WNBA game in 25 years. Teams in smaller home arenas have moved their games to bigger arenas for matchups with Clark and the Fever.

"This is what we've always wanted as a league, so like, who cares who gets the credit," Cunningham said. "And if you're smart, [you know] you're making money off them. ... Just be nice. Why can't people be nice?"

Here's something from Ben. Some thoughts around DB as well.

Again, the Fever just can't stop them. The Sparks are scoring on every possession. Rickea Jackson is killing them. The Fever have no answer.

In the WNBA if you run into someone and simultaneously throw up a shot you're going to the line. NOT in the spirit of the game, imo.

Plum is really good but that's a big part of her game. Or she'll just knock you down and continue to the hoop as she did with Lexie. How can that be a no-call? OTOH, had they called a foul it definitely would have gone against Lexie. Poor Lexie, she's a great defender but gets penalized for it more than anyone it seems.

Overall a very poor defensive showing though. Guess that's obvious when a team hangs a hundred on you.

If the Feev could pullout a win Thursday it would still be a very successful road series. Just need a tiny bit of defense!

Mitchell is leading the team in scoring almost every night now and her passing game seems to have really evolved too.

In particular her one-handed "hooking" pass motion has been quite scintillating, imo.

I dunno, if the Fever could get Caitlin healthy and in good form they could make a lot of noise. This despite little defense, but let’s improve that too!

Dantas ran into Brink and got her shot blocked. There's body contact. Ref called a foul but the review overturned it. I thought it was a good overturn since Dantas definitely moved forward a lot more than Brink during the collision. So, at least this occasion was opposite to your observation.

Dantas played the poorest defense I think I have ever seen in her 6 minutes on the floor. I think a tree trunk could move more than she does on defense. I don't know why coach White doesn't play Timpson or Bibby instead of Dantas. Dantas recently looked good against college girls but not in the W. If her shot isn't going down she has zero value. Someone please tell White that.

But they DID have to go to the monitor to review it to eventually overturn it.

I can't quibble with the overturn too much but it did appear that after Dantas left her feet Brink was still moving toward her. Gotta give Dantas space to land.

Plum has gone to the line more than any other player this year other than A'ja Wilson (of course). She's so little I think she'd rarely get a clean shot off when driving if not for bumping her defender first.

Like Paige said, ya gotta learn to foul in the WNBA.
