Thanks for the welcome. Don't spend much time on message boards but wanted to get some info on CC. Found this site to get some CC info, but HS football message boards aren't my life.

Probably not going to find any eastern teams or players on top of the stats, we only played 12 games due to the hurricane, while CC, for example, played 15 games. Our #1 running back was also injured to start the first Havelock game and sat out the next two games, so he only played in 9 games.

CC gave up 24 points to Marvin Ridge. If you don't think JHS can put up one more TD than that, you're in for a big surprise.
Hey from them to tell it. We won’t score any points or move the ball on the number one defense in the state regardless of classification. Lol

Very true. It happens when your new to playing in state title games. Been 24 years and after this blowout will be another 24 years
Quick question.. where is SWO playing next week? I do mean basketball. Since you bragged so much about your Stallions going to NE who sucks so much. How you were going to curve stomp them. Go back to the 2A boards. Leave this 3A stuff to us.

Go back to your marine base, do some drills and learn to respect your opponent. Don't come back until you do.
First off miss all of us with any reference to anything to do with the military. We are proud of the men and women who serve our country. You say it like being around a military base is a bad thing. Respect your opponent you have to be kidding with the way you clowns have talked about our team. Just go away!

Lol...awesome! This isn’t Havelock. We are Jacksonville! We will see!
I know. You're below Havelock. You have one good half against them, when 3 out of 4 times you're done after that 28-7 hole you dug with that great three headed monster, and you think you're world beaters. Just be thankful you're still playing, stop the bravado and leave it at that.

Really dude just go away! Who ever was talking to you anyways? Yeah that 3 headed monster got us out of that hole. Just go away. I don’t recall anyone talking to you in first place. Nothing you have to say matters much when you try and throw shade at our Military Base as you put it. Remember there almighty one the folks on that Military base provide idiots like you with the blanket of freedom that you and yours enjoy everyday. Even the right you have to come on a message board and post idiotic stuff about high school kids playing football. You get no more response from me. Does not matter what you have to say. We could go back and forth all day about football and thrash talk. You and anyone who thinks like that can go straight to hell as far as I am concerned. Your no better then the moron who posted that your coach getting arrested for assault on a woman was a reflection on your program. I was one of the first to respond that was totally wrong.

First of all dude, I wasn't dissing the military. I served myself. Again, just be thankful you're still playing. Man you're defensive. You're the one that needs to grow up and stay away until you do. You need to really respect your opponent. You compare yourselves to Havelock, that powehouse, that CC beat by two scores last year? You were very fortunate to win. You should be home right now. There's a reason you were down 28-7 at the half. Tone it down. CC faced a King's Mountain offense just as explosive as Jacksonville's. Held them to 7 points after they were averaging 40 points a game. They faced Sam Howell, a QB who is probably signing with Florida State. Their offense was probably more explosive than Jacksonville's. CC wins that one 28-7. You brag about beating 3A Havelock? Look at Weddington, rolling along into the 3AA championship game after mauling Mount Tabor. They finished 2nd in their conference to CC. CC beats them 20-0. I'm pretty positive you'll have a bit more respect for CC after Saturday. On the other hand, you are very verbose, like an opponent who knows he's overmatched but is desperate for confidence. Keep on little man. You're providing great entertainment.

Oh, by the way, CC is looking for their third state title in four years, in two classifications; 4A and 3A. Jacksonville hasn't done anything yet. So tone it down, be thankful you're playing and pull for your team like you should. But stop the bravado until your team has actually done something.

No question Weddington would do a Mexican Hat Dance on some Cardinal helmets there Mr. H. Warrior backfield is best in 3A and would run roughshod over these red canaries like they have this season to other teams except Catholic when they kissed the turf of Keffer all four quarters and were shut down like a squalid Q-joint on the wrong side of the tracks 20-0.

Almost every fan of all the post-season teams we have played this year posted in 3A “we have this guy, we have that guy, speed kills, you won’t have an answer for us, you better do these things or else, D1 prospects, Shrine Bowl roster, East-West roster, All-State team” yada yada yada and we BONED every one of them especially that idiot Whammy and his pathetic pound puppies on their field.

Keep telling yourself lies Cardinal fans. It will only sting more Saturday afternoon.

Jacksonville should not expect to win this game exclusively running the football. Greenville Rose and Havelock had success moving the ball against CC through the air. Both completed around 80% of their passes for over 200 yards.

In the 2017 title game, Dudley threw for 150 at a 67% completion rate.

Jacksonville will need to mix it up to expect to win. By mixing it up I mean throwing the ball 15-20 times.

Wont happen, JHS best receiver has 21 receptions all year. Their Cinderella run ends in a curb stomp Saturday. Another 24 years they will be back

You are % correct and that’s the only way to try and be successful. The thing is you need to go 15-20 for that to be effective in my mind.
You know what they say, 3 things happen when you throw the ball and 2 aren’t good.

I hope I am wrong Split. It just seems like they, as most highschool teams do, have trouble with a good passing game. If what 1SWO1 posted is correct then it may be a struggle.

But hey, in 2016 Dudley ran it 27 times for 173 and won. You know I am pulling for the Cards.

If I'm not mistaken, when New Bern played CC in 2014 it wasn't Mike Hughes legs and their option attack that took them to the promise land; which for the other 13 games on their schedule his legs did most the work. Hughes showed off his arm and threw two touchdown passes with one of the them being the sealer in the 4th quarter. I will say this about CC... they zero in on what their opponent does best and will take that away. This creates a problem because Jacksonville and Coach Williams will want to control the clock. If they don't stay ahead of the chains it will be difficult to do this. Catholics defense bends but doesn't break unless you take the top of the lid off it. Jacksonville has a great option attack but there will will have to be some shots taken in order to beat CC.

Dudley in 2016 had the Hooker kid at QB. Threw for 140 something and ran the ball 11 times for 50 some yards. He was their 2nd leading rusher and hand the most attempts. Also to be honest 173 on the ground isn't that great. That year Dudley's defense was stout as all get out. If I remember correctly their D scored a touchdown that and their offense only put up 14

He went 5 of 11, but two of those 5 completions were bombs for TD's. They did a good job game-planning to stop his legs and force him to beat them with his arm. I remember talking to him after the game and he couldn't believe he had 85 yards on the ground, he thought he had about 20.

We had a good lead at the half but we knew they were going to punch us in the mouth in the second half, just had to withstand it.

That they have. In years past, they've fallen off a little after every title but nothing like this. Talent is coming in, I just pray they know how to utilize it.

Hughes was one of the best. I can still see the unreal throw he made on a 3rd and long to seal it. Special athlete.

He was a generational talent and is why he is playing for real money now. Even with him New Bern struggled to move the ball that night and that Catholic defense wasnt as good as this one.

The reality is the teams that beat Catholic are more physical than them. Has ZERO to do with speed. Jville will not be able to get Catholic blocked.........doesnt matter how fast you are.

Kinda on topic but not. The best, most awesome (know this is poor grammar) part of high school athletics how different teams are from year to year. High Schools get what they get (unless recruiting takes place) and at points in time there is a shortage of athletes. No one can tell me any different that at the high school level it isn't about the Jimmy's and Joe's. Catholic has had (and currently does) some really good players who go and play D1 ball. New Bern to my knowledge doesn't have the athletic players it's known to have. Just look at Havelock who is just a few miles down the road and they have 5 to 6 kids going and playing big time D1 ball. Then you add Coach into it. Don't get me wrong, coaching plays a major part in winning but we have all seen bad coaches on stacked teams and they still win and keep getting prime time jobs; just look at college and the NFL. This is why it is so awesome to see Charlotte Catholic and Tarboro keep winning. They have athletes, good coaching, but the IMO they have culture. Add good athletes and good coaching into an established culture (program) and the results speak for themselves. In today's game of football these two teams (just to name a couple) don't run the flashy offenses of the RPO's and spread. They stick to what's got them to where they are. Catholics defense is pretty simplistic but the kids know that is what they are going to be running year in and year out. In the case of New Bern: their hall of fame coach steps aside a year, comes back a year, then retires, a new coach is brought in... a new culture has to be developed and throw in not having superior athletes. A lot of programs go through this if a culture isn't stuck in place. When Otto left Catholic a culture had been created and established. All the new coach needed to do is not mess with that and keep building upon it. Side note: people need to quit with the Catholic recruits business... you don't like it.. demand more from your local program to build into something like the best of this state have. It means you stick with a coach even in the midst of losing seasons and let him develop. Rome wasn't built in a day.... rather many years.

I believe the winningest coach in NC history said high school football is 80% coaching.

Add a few years with good to great talent and you have something.

What sucks even more is how wide open 4A is right now. No Catholic, New Hanover, Dudley, Hoggard, Hillside, Rose, Conley etc. If we were even just a fraction of our old-selves, we could be making a run to State.

Things will be better for New Bern next year, I just hope the staff can do their part in developing the talent.

Keep reading about how Jville is going to need to throw it. They average about 100 yrds a game throwing it against one of the weakest schedules in the state. They are roughly 75% run team.

Sam Howell and Garrett Schrader the Florida State and Mississippi State commits combined for two TDs against Catholic.............Somehow a team that averages 100yrds a game is gonna throw it against Catholic?? Good luck with that.

They threw it a little more last year with the same QB but also had better options last year. Like I said previously, CC makes you do things you're simply not comfortable doing. Let me rephrase -- they're going to have to be successful throwing the ball against CC to win it. Similar to New Bern in 2014. They only completed 5 passes, two of those were 30+ & 60+ TD's.
