coondog, NoDog meant that you are back on the SP bandwagon after all the comments you made earlier in the year.

Really Sasha. I'm a true fan trust me. I can tell you this. I still think we would be better but our Defense is pretty darn good.

SP will annihilate Pisgah....but Hibriten is going to annihilate SP.
SP has not beaten Pisgah, Hibriten has not beaten WR, and Hibriten has not beaten SP, but please keep your phone on during the games this weekend and next. We will all text the scores as you as watch the Chargers roundball game. Enjoy the off season.

The only thing we know for sure is that the one dog who was throwing specific players and coaches under the bus 7+ weeks ago is now predicting a win. He's got fair weather treed and is howling and baying.

I think it's a conspiracy..... The Staff paid him to do it.... they know what the outcome would be... 3A West Champs... Then State Champs!... Gotta watch ole Mick! lol

Nope, threw kids under the bus. Needs to be reminded and called out for it. It's wrong. And if you celebrate it Cagle, then you're just as bad. No one should forget. And for the record, I don't like SP. But I hate seeing kids called out.

I'm just confused as to why there are two threads for this game. Which one do I need to be on to explain just how badly the Bears are gonna rip up the little red raiders?

No way. You fellas from down east sure are obsessed with that mountain moonshine though. I'll bring a whole jug for ya to drink your sorrows away after the game.

The two threads were started almost simultaneously. Maybe Deanna can either merge them or close one of them down.

There are kids, coaches, programs, etc called out on here constantly and have been since the early 00s. It's a HS football internet message board. You holier than thou types are unbelievable pukes. Obviously you have a relative or friend called out ("no dog in the fight") and you keep churning this up. Coondog said what he said, doesn't make it right or wrong. It was his opinion. If you say that 85% of the crowd wasn't saying the same things around town or at the stadium then you are delusional. sp has gotten better, but we've also played nobody including two "playoff" teams the last 2 months. I think this week will be similar.
Mountain teams generally aren't great contenders as a whole in most years, and when you take away Asheville and ACR....then you're really thinning the sauce. So, I fully anticipate a 4th round game for SP soon, and hopefully we'll get to see a good team that will make a good game. It's reminds you a little bit of last year. Actually the last decade, usually the first two rounds are a breeze. Anxious for a good football game but I just think it'll be two weeks before we see one.

This is a highly misleading narrative IMO, that has always gotten on my nerves. The mountain teams consist of 15 counties and 4 conferences. Out of 100 counties and 54 conferences, that's it. So just from a sheer statistical standpoint, the chances of them being able to make to a championship game, is very limited compared to their Peidmont and ENC counterparts. Heck, most of the time mountain teams end up eliminating one another. The fact that mountain teams do have 1A schools regularly representing the region in state championships, along with 2A and 3A schools like Mountain Heritage, Asheville, Reynolds, etc, in years here and there, is very indicative of them being competitive. Heck, even teams like Hendersonville, Franklin, Pisgah, Polk, Owen, etc, showing up in late rounds in years past and now, is highly indicative of them being competitive and should be considered contenders.

I looked it up just now, only 6 out of the 32 teams in the west bracket of the of the 3A/3AA state playoffs, are from the mountains. That's indicative of the fact that there are only two 3A conferences and both are split. Right off the bat, their odds are only 1:5 to represent the west in a state championship game, as compared to their Piedmont counterpart. Now in looking at the 8 teams still left in the 3A/3AA playoff west bracket, mountain teams represent 2 of them. Those 1:5 odds to start the playoffs, turned into 1:4 in the 3rd round, and that's with Reynolds having to eliminate one of their own. You could see the same trend in 2A, and it get's even better in 1A. 4A isn't even worth discussing as there are only two 4A schools in all of WNC (Roberson and McDowell). The truth is, outside of a handful, 95% of the Piedmont and ENC doesn't end up being contenders either.

I may be an unbelievable puke, but I can assure you that I have no friends or relatives playing or coaching at South Point.

Good luck to SP this week.

You can say it is undeserving, but you can't say it is not true. You can't go down the mountain and lose by 40 and then come on here and talk about it being unfair when someone tells the truth. The Canton faithful can crow all they want to but they are about to get a real team Friday night. I have seen both teams play and Tuscola was equal are better than Pisgah and South Point looked like a college team playing a middle school team. Facts are facts. Let them run their mouths this week and have some fun in Canton. With the deadbeats they have played in the playoffs already combined with the weak conference they play in, they are about to get a reality check Friday night.

Heelz, I get what Reality is saying. I like the mountain teams, and always secretly pull for them in some ways. I've just not seen a whole lot of good 2A and 3A playoff teams out of the mountains the last 30 years outside of AHS and ACR. Owen had a nice little 3-4 year run. TRC had a year or two where they were contenders in the playoffs. But, that doesn't equate to the mountain teams producing much. There are plenty of 2a and 3a schools in the Piedmont that suck just like there are plenty from the mountains. But, if you subtract those 2 schools from the mtns in the last 30-35 years.....what is left to show their relevance in HS playoff football?

Another site predicts a South Point win 34-9. Sounds about right to me. I hope this one is over by 9:30 like last week, weather looks to be a little more chilly this week.

The King will always have his say:
Pissgah will be another dead and bloated victim when 9:30 PM rolls around on Friday night. To those Pissgah fans that think SP internet fans are obnoxious, and that I can't spell I say this: you are wrong, ye people of little talent.

Pissgah will get beaten in a straight forward, seemingly humane fashion. It will be quiet after the first quarter, and a deep sleep will befall your team and fanbase. You will rejoice when you leave that beloved town that smells like cow patties being cooked over a urine stew, because you know you are in the presence of the great one (me) and a far superior team and brand of football. No amount of piss and vinegar will your Catamount be able to instill in his Bears to make them competitive past one quarter. That's not arrogance. I speak only the truth.

For your enjoyment and fact checking at 10:49 on Friday night, the final score will be as follows: 42 - 14. 7 of your points will come very late. SP will maintain a consistent 14 pt. score each quarter except for a somewhat slow start in the first quarter. The Bears will be tough and dirty. I was surprised how Tuscola played. It's like Diet Mountain football. Not much dirtiness, scrappiness or fight. Was interesting to see...and disappointing. I guess they're being bred to behave like the newcomers in town up there nowadays.

Please give SP a fight. We haven't seen a HS football game around here in literally over two months. We would like to see a team that could beat our Middle School team; It is after all the 3rd round of the playoffs. I do love our "mountain" run to the state game though. If I didn't know better I'd say we paid a little cash under the table to make that happen. Be sure to stop in West Gastonia on your way back to Pissgah; they have lots of great attractions, restaurants and spots for picnics under the stars.

Patsfball, I appreciate many of your posts.
But, unless we go to Hibriten to play soccer or hop scotch, we are coming back to Belmont with a win. I know we do similar things offensively. The big difference and driving force behind this team's success is the OL/DL talent and play. It frees up our LBs and makes a mediocre (at best) backfield look good at times. That same OL/DL was very young, and combined with a stout schedule upfront you see some losses. Don't be fooled though; this team has gotten better, despite the lack of competition from the surrounding area and mountains thus far.

I know you will be a test. I hope you can win your next game so you can write your name at the top and see if you can get an A or not. You might want to pay attention to WR though. One thing that has not been noted about this year's team - and never will be acknowledged by the coaches I'm sure- is throughout the best SP teams and offensive years in modern era football (93, 99, 03, 09, and present team) they always had receiving threats that helped open up the running option lanes when needed. This year's team has receiving threats. This group doesn't have the speed or talent of some of the past rec. groups mentioned, but this is the tallest group of receivers we've had and that's a weapon in HS football. So, Hibriten better start working on the pass rush and defense up there for not only this week, but the week after if you advance.
