This is kind of interesting. This was updated today.
- The following rankings listed by MaxPreps are not related or associated with process used for seeding the NCHSAA brackets
In the event there are ties for the last spots in the playoffs (there are many in these projections), the NCHSAA will first break the tie with head-to-head competition (including any games dropped to get to a 10-game record), then conference winning percentage, then a random draw. From my understanding; the 1st tiebreaker is conference wins...
How could you rank Terry Sanford over Westover and Westover won the head to head battle and are projected to finish higher in conference.

This new playoff system sucks! Previous one was much better!
Well whoever made the decision is a da. There was nothing wrong with how it was. This new system gives teams no credit for finishing second in the conference and it is basically telling teams to go play the easiest non conference schedule you can because if you don't win your conference it is all based on overall record. Going to be total BS if Erwin gets a higher seed than Asheville.
Head to head comes before Maxpreps ranking in priority for seeding but every team with that record has to have played each other. Since Triton hasn't played either of them, that means Maxpreps record has to be used. If you want to see the exact wording, you can go read it in the other thread. What happened to head to head

I was told: first record, if both have the same record, then maxpreps rating. Not to for sure. Questions?Another question that has yet to be answered from the "new and improved" playoff seeding system:
Let's say that Team A who is the #1 seed in the West meets Team B who is the #1 seed in the Midwest in the regional finals - where would this game be played since they are both #1 seeds?
That is a conclusion one gets if they think its all about them......it's not!!!!!!!!!!!Looking back up this thread. There seems to be a lot of seeding questions from certain fan bases. Would that be because a certain team is projected to be small 3a. hahahaha.....
Eastern part of the state has to makeup games from hurricane. Playoffs start 18thOh I assumed playoffs would begin this Friday.

He didn't say anything about Erwin having easy schedule. He was saying that basically they are telling you to play an easy schedule so you can have good record.
They play corn hole now? I wouldn't doubt it for a second
Gotcha...The NCHSAA is on crack...
Hillary getting elected means the whole country is on crack.
According to how I understand the seeding, head-to-head is only applied if ALL the teams in the tie played each other. Therefore in the case of Asheville-Erwin-MR it doesn't apply. Goes to MaxPreps rankings.
I have to be honest - I'm not sure how they will handle KM-Crest-Burns. My current thinking is that KM would get a #1 because they are the only team going AA. Then Crest would get a #1 because they beat Burns head-to-head in the A bracket. However, they may decide to only give whoever wins the drawing a #1 and treat the other 2 teams as at-large, since they aren't the conference overall champion. I couldn't find a similar case in the past 5 seasons for how they will handle this.
I want someone to explain to me how in the hell maxpreps has anything to do with NC high school football playoffs and what MORON decided to get them involved? Was something terribly wrong with it the last couple years?
I agree. Even if Erwin does get a higher seed it should never be decided that way. It really wont help us though. We still have to travel and would either way.
