I live in a very small town, it’s as friendly as it gets. Plus almost every person in this county knows me by name. I don’t carry here locally. When I travel with the wife and daughter I always carry, we do a lot of hiking , so many nutso’s out there now I just like having it on me. And the cc allows me to have my 45 by my side in the car on trips.

5-11 and Tru spec make a great over coat for concealment in a gentleman’s style.they run about 180 but it’s got a pull over liner in it that can be removed and worn that has a webbed padding for concealment.
Black hawk makes great zip and button up collard shirts that conceal very well and have an easy Velcro opening for quick access to where you carry your pistol.

Pisgah, you can name a state park in NC and yea, I’ve hiked there, lol. My Mom and Dad have been outdoor warriors their entire life, I grew up camping , hiking, canoeing. Our favs are like Raven Rock, Hanging Rock and of course all over the parkway. My Mom and Dad can still hike me into the ground, they’re tough and still big time healthy, blessed.
why does it not surprise me which states do not honor NC permit. I wonder how hard it is to get a permit in some of those states. As someone on here pointed out, thugs don't seem to have a problem carrying concealed.
I live in Arizona where you don't even need a permit to conceal carry. Yet I never carry in the city. I do take the Sig P229 40 when we go hiking or camping, though. There's some CRAZIES out there.
In Nevada you simply get a blue card. When I fly home I usually send my S&W shield with night sights priority mail to my fathers . He only keeps two guns in his home. If you travel I recommend looking into the personal protection carry. I think it’s 250.00 but it covers you in all 50 states.
I thought the NC concealed carry class was too easy. There were young women there the day I did it who seemed to have never fired a weapon before that day who walked out with the certificate to get a license. There needs to be more scrutiny on weapon handling/shooting before someone can get a CCW license.
You only have to fire with in the requirements of the target. I have a CCW but really don’t need it in the state seeing as how it’s a right to carry state and my credintals as well.
I do believe if you are a first time gun user an eight hour safety course should be taken and range time included in that eight. I would like to also see it added in where you draw and fire from concealment point of carry. But NC is one of the more preferable then other states
For you posters who wife’s carry and like to carry those big pocket books lol. I recommend an uncle mikes two way strap concealment holster that give support to keep it up right or if it’s one of the smaller compacts the side clip is an excellent choice .
We do Hanging Rock every few months. Never gets old. One of the few things I really get excited about that doesn’t involve sipping bourbon.
watch where you step up there. lots of copperheads and rattlers in that area.
I carry a Taurus Judge out in the woods for that purpose. Keeping your eyes open is a must.
Whoa whoa whoa. I don’t really have an opinion about guns one way or the other to be honest but when we start talking about snakes have to draw the line!!
As an avid reptile enthusiast I promise you snakes don’t want to bite you. If you get bitten it’s either because they mistake you for food, you smell like food or you threatened it in someway! Most of the time snakes are all around us we never even know it.
