If we get the ball back again before half, I would put Brin in just to let Smith simmer on it for half time. And then bring Zach back out for the third quarter

Since we are now so thin at RB, we will have to depend on the passing game. Smith does not have it today. Taylor cannot run it every play.

Good eye pointing that out... well, maybe not since it is so obvious 😎

Yeah pretty basic stuff that you'd think we'd correct in film. If a guy lines up even or in front of the QB you almost don't even have to think about a run between the tackles

Mark my words... 7 - 6 Navy half-time lead
Well, 6 - 3 Tulsa lead so I am happy to be wrong but we need to score two quick TD's out of half-time to put this game away.

I hate being reminded every game just how bad the situation is. This defense is good enough, but the offense is a sputtering jalopy....

i did not realize the d-lineman could be penalized for lining up incorrectly over or around the center ...

Is this just on field goal and punts or all the time...

On a kick you cannot be over the snapper or in the gap... it's a rule used to protect the snapper who would get blown up all the time. Surprising number of head injuries out of that position, I know from experience.
Thank you for the explanation...

Coaching would cover those things

Ok, now it's time to sit Smith today. His ribs are obviously not healed. You can see him grabbing them after throws. If he were healthy I think he makes most of these throws. Need to see what Brin has this 2nd half

The bigger problem with Smith right now is with the ribs he won’t pull the ball and run it. That puts more pressure on the o-line and Taylor. Navy will stack the box and force Smith to make throws or run which he can’t or shouldn’t with the ribs. Game is playing into Navy’s hands - keep it close.

If Smith’s ribs are still sore he should sit and be in reserve while letting Brin play the second half. That should have been the plan for the whole game.

Didn’t Montgomery know about Smith’s ribs before today? Considering Smith’s ribs & Brin’s performance our last game, you’d think Montgomery would have started Brin.

The receivers havent exactly helped smith either on some of the throws. 4 or 5 drops I believe. The one by Santana he could of gone all the way after. I'll also be interested to see I'd our 4th string r&b gets in at all to give taylor a rest. Watkins I believe?

Yeah you would think so. Or Smith just wants to play and has said hes good to go
