How well did he do with is OWN recruits at MISSOURI and how well will he do with all of his recruits this year 14-16 or worse? We don't need another BB or JP.
. Also what is his record against P5 teams just asking?
YOU SAID THE SAME THING WHEN I CRITICIZED JP AND BB.How well did he do with is OWN recruits at MISSOURI and how well will he do with all of his recruits this year 14-16 or worse? We don't need another BB or JP.. Also what is his record against P5 teams just asking?
Ok law poke you think he will win more than 14 that's your opinion but I think you are wrongCan we give the guy more than eight games with his own players here at TU before we start making determinations?

I'm not really sure why I'm even responding, but going over 14 wins this season is not even a real measure of success. A few wins over or under 14 depending on the nature of the wins and losses and losing to or not losing to p5 teams, can still be a successful season. There is hardly a coach out there who will be faced with the kind of attrition we had this season and do much better this year. This is a rebuilding year. You not realizing that some time ago is why you are a young immature tool.Ok law poke you think he will win more than 14 that's your opinion but I think you are wrong
We're all well aware of what Haith was handed. We've also lost to: UALR twice, SEOSU, ORU twice, Jacksonville St., and we were blown out by a floundering Memphis squad in the conference tournament. We've gone from a Senior laden team who had played hundreds of games together, to a whole new group who has played a total of 8 games together. Wheeler, Magnay, Etou, Henderson, Korita and Taplin have all been solid. I think Haith brought in some great young players. We haven't had a big like Magnay since Kurtz, and I think he has potential to be better.
I don't have any complaints about Haith. Still have a long way to go this season. As for last 2 years. We've beaten UCONN twice, Cincinnati, Memphis twice, Temple twice, Wichita St., at OSU, and at SMU. Those are big time wins. Any hate for Haith is most likely only based on his past.

Ya, those seniors weren't very good. They made two NCAA tourneys despite poor mediocre defensive schemes on Haith's part and personnel mismanagement by Manning. Oh, James was a multi-year All Conference Team member, Shaq was the best guard I've ever seen without an outside shot. You realize that Manning left this program in a terrible situation and quite honestly, last years seniors were not very good. We got lucky to be where we were because the talent level was not very good. Go ahead and be angry about a .500 team. I am sure Haith really is concerned about you being angry.

Remember that Haith was trying to teach him to shoot? Well Shaq is now shooting over 40% from NBA range for the Suns' D-League squad. I'm tired of the excuse given to Haith that he inherited something bad. He inherited a VERY good team and he only did a mid-level coaching job with them.
Nobody thought the Tulsa players would be competitive in this league.
Wheeler is not as good as Woodard was. I doubt he even sniffs all conference. (That's not saying he's not good)We had 2 great guards on that team. Other than that, we had a bunch of solid role players. Our bigs this year have more talent. Wheeler has taken Woodard's place. Taplin is coming along at PG. We're just missing that wing presence right now that we thought Birt would handle, but it might end up being Korita.
^This. Manning left for Wake Forest 1) Because he wanted to coach in that league and 2) because he didn't think the group of players he assembled could be competitive in the AAC. Well, he got #1, and he missed the boat on #2. They competed at a high level in the AAC and were about 3 minutes away from Haith taking them to the dance both years. And they were really limited inside. I think with Magnay and Etou, Haith has players inside he can work with. The improvement this team has shown an EXPONENTIAL GROWTH from game 1 to the last game at OSU. After game 1 I wasn't sure we'd win 10 games all season. I'm pretty sure we'll win 10 and we might finish top half of the AAC which would really be an outstanding season with a lot of room to continue to grow.Tulsa is in the most competitive conference in school history. It could be argued that the Mo Valley of the 60-70's might have been just as tough but the American is a very good conference.
With that said Haith finished second and tied for third of the conference in both years.

Haith is doing fine, this team is really young and hasn't really figured out how to play with each other yet, they will better as time goes on this season.
GO TU!!!!
Magnay and Etou >>>>>>>>>>>>>Wright and Swannegan. It's not even close. The fact Magnay gets as many blocked shots as he is without fouling out in less than 10 minutes playing time puts him above the very best of Wright in all of his 4 years. Offensively Etou is in a different league than any big we've had since KJ (and KJ wasn't a true big).LOL. So Magnay hasn't shown more talent than say, swannegan or wright? You are a tool.
Man, you make my head hurt. We have 9 new guys. The team as a whole has MUCH MORE talent, and more is on the way.
But it is coming along faster than I expected. Taplin is going to be an outsanding PG for us and I think the confidence he has developed the last 2 games is really going to continue to build for him.Our guard play this season is nowhere close to the level of last season, but our bigs are ABSOLUTELY more talented than the group from last season.
If you add up all the contributions by the 3 bigs from last season (Smitty, Wright, Swanny) and the 4 from this season (Etou, Magnay, Edogi, Igbanu) and then divide them by the number of contributors you get roughly the same average of points per big, and last year's squad was actually better at assists per big. The only thing this group does significantly better statwise is rebound, but a lot of that has to do with the fact that they're not competing with guards that normally sky for rebounds like Shaq or Juice did.In my opinion a double-double (or triple-double) is a good indicator of a talented individual player. Our bigs already have more double-doubles, in 8 games, than the bigs had all of last season (I've also included guards from last season too as reference).
2016 - 2017 Season
- Junior Etou - Jacksonville St - 20 pts and 10 reb
- TK Edogi - New Orleans - 15 pts and 10 reb
- Junior Etou - ORU - 10 pts and 10 reb
- Will Magnay - Illinois St - 10 pts and 13 reb
2015 - 2016 Season
Our guard play this season is nowhere close to the level of last season, but our bigs are ABSOLUTELY more talented than the group from last season.
- James Woodard - Indiana St - 16 pts and 10 reb
- Shaq Harrison - ECU - 10 pts and 10 ast
- James Woodard - UCF - 18 pts and 10 reb
- Brandon Swannegan - Tulane - 19 pts and 11 reb
- James Woodard - Temple - 18 pts and 10 reb
- Marquel Curtis - UCF - 10 pts and 11 reb
Offensively, Etou is selfish. He wants to be THE guy when he's better suited to be A guy.Magnay and Etou >>>>>>>>>>>>>Wright and Swannegan. It's not even close.
