CC has 22 assists and only 4 turnovers in the last two games.
Their balanced scoring/production today is honestly their most optimal look going forward.

Clark is better in that John Stockton role feeding Boston and Howard (when she decides to show up), and you get the outside shooting and defense of Hull and Cunningham. Then when the bench can contribute in spurts the way they did today, it only makes it that much tougher for opponents to focus all their energy on not letting Caitlin Clark become the all-time scoring leader in the WNBA...................something that was hilariously apparent from the first game of her career.

I am done with this aari getting big minutes experiment. She was a godsend when Caitlin was injured by every minute she is in for Caitlin or Kelsey is a wasted minute.

Caitlin gets a turnover because Dantas fumbles on-the-money pass.
This is why I don't get too wrapped up in the TO's. Another example of an easy assist, that doesn't happen.
Terrific game by the Fever. Finally played to Caitlin's speed.
First game since the groin injury where she looked herself with her demeanor as well......

I wonder if part of this has had to do with satisfying the egos of the other players. The thing is, when you let CC do her thing, everyone else enjoys a hotter spotlight (more points, more exposure, etc).

Managing egos may be the most important job function for a coach of a professional team. But when generational talents like Bird, Magic, Michael, Kobe, LeBron, etc. come into play the last thing a coach should do is take away what makes them great in order to satisfy lesser talents.

I dont get letting all the grabbing going on and the wnba thinking that makes good basketball
Agree.....good on-ball D should be played moving your feet, without being allowed to put your hands on the ball-handler. PB's comments were spot-on about having to learn to play physical/handsy D in the W.....makes for ugly b-ball.

The depth is good in these 5 games in 8 day stretches, but also White needs to let KM cook.

It’s said all the time, but holy ****, it really is amazing how often the refs allow teams to foul Clark on almost every possession.
It is pretty interesting to hear a former star with major cred like Lobo doing the game, and say, "thats a foul, thats a foul, and that, and they finally called one. Its literally ever game most people with no agenda, can't believe the non calls on players defending CC22, and YET the league office turns a deaf ear......

Lets be honest. The league office wants Clark to be "slowed down" in these games by allowing defenders to grab and hold her, thus keeping her stats somewhat in check. Can't have her putting up too many 30/14/10 games, and hurt the feelings of Aja and her ilk. If they wanted this fixed, it would be fixed NOW. If Engelbert called the head of officials and said have them start calling that contact, it would change in 3 or 4 games or there be a bunch of fouled out players. This whole thing starts at the top and could be fixed if they wanted it fixed.

She also gets credited with assists when she shouldn't...but it seems to be a league wide trend so at least it keeps things even.
Its not "a trend". The league has a different idea of what an assist is. ex: after she passes the ball the player can take countless dribble and score and its still an assist. Still Thomas and ALL the other players get the same calls so its all relative. There is no denying that she loses about 3-6 assists/gm by her team mates missing bunnies, and mishandling balls right in their hands. Most of us thought her numbers would explode in the pro's playing with better over all talent, but that talent can't finish plays any better then the girls she played at Iowa with evidently.

And she gets fouled repeatedly with no fouls called, diminishing her ability to create. That is a leaguewide problem to an extent, but she really gets screwed with it given her usage rate, and the refs many times just flat out allowing things against her they don't against other players. With that being said, they are indeed liberal with crediting assists in the W. Perhaps that is to counteract the tiny catch radii and finishing abilities of players in the W, as compared to the high flying finishers in the NBA.
