Boomer lets cat out of the bag - NFL had the fix in. Boomers mentions "owners" but that also means Goodell was part of the block. It was easy to see the fix was in.

NFL owners ordered ‘entitled’ Shedeur Sanders be taken off draft boards: Boomer Esiason

When discussing the former Colorado quarterback’s stunning slide over the weekend to the fifth round in the 2025 NFL Draft, with the Browns grabbing him at No. 144 overall, Boomer Esiason claimed Monday the 23-year-old Sanders wasn’t on draft boards at the discretion of unnamed ownership. ..

“I’m telling you right now, and I know this after talking to three different personnel people in the NFL this weekend, they didn’t even have him on their board. They took him off, and they took him off because the owner said, ‘Take him off, I don’t want that guy. I don’t want this … entitled person on our team."

These are the same kind of people who hated Ali in the 60s

STRAHAN

"I don’t think this kid should’ve dropped to the fifth round, and I hate when you have unnamed sources. If you’re going to say something that bad to disparage a kid, put your name on it first of all,” Strahan, an NFL analyst for Fox, said, seemingly referring to anonymous reports that Sanders acted “entitled” and had negative interviews with two teams leading up to the draft. You watch so many quarterbacks who had no amount of production like he had. It’s about numbers when it comes to quarterbacks."

He's trying so hard to be right but posted a valid reason why an owner wouldn't want him in his post...lol. Sanders came across poorly to the teams he interviewed with, so they eliminated him from consideration. Suddenly it's not acceptable for an owner to do this.

The kid tried to act like his dad, but he comes off as a buffoon. His arrogance comes off looking like ignorance. He failed himself by showing up at the combine with a big act rather than taking the NFL people seriously. What a miscalculation by the kid and his dad. This is not a conspiracy, it’s a massive mistake by the sanders family and a consistent read by the people who know a little bit more about football than Sheduer.

Of course when you listen to the actual comments it comes across with more context than what the agenda driven race baiter posted.

I’m only loosely following this draft issue.

But are some people actually claiming racism as the reason why sanders fell to the 5th round?

The NFL has proven (for better or for worse) that all they care about is $$$$

You can be purple with green hair and they’ll take you #1 if you’re a sure thing star that will help them win.

Maybe the color of his skin had nothing to do with it but teams looked else where since;

His measurables didn’t translate to the nfl (not particularly strong arm? And not particularly quick?)

Didn’t the kid refuse to do workouts?

Didnt the kid not talk to certain teams?

Didn’t the kid tank several interviews?

I mean those seem like legitimate reasons not to pick the kid til the 5th round

And yeah, maybe teams, didn’t want to deal with the circus that is his dad. But is it “racist” to not want to deal with a famous dad who, based on his over-the-top-personality, will very likely criticize you, very publically, if you don’t use his kid like he thinks you should? Is that “racist” or just smart?

Boomer is right on and its obvious.
Boomer works in sports so turning over a rock on the NFL isn't quite nest feathering
You often result to insults when your arguments fade and that's a character flaw.

You only picked a certain part of what Boomer said to further your agenda on this. You clearly forgot the "Shedeur Torpedoed Himself" part....which is one of the points you seem to be continually missing. Clearly the kid has some talent. But NFL teams probably did not feel he had enough talent to also carry with him what will likely also be a pain in the *** factor and circus atmosphere.

He actually ended up in a decent spot with Cleveland in terms of chances to play and even start. Flacco is ancient. Pickens has been pretty bad in the NFL so far. Dillon looks to be a career backup type and Watson has two blown Achilles and may never return. My guess is that Shedeur will get his chance....
.he's already got loads of money via NIL and family ties. .....so it's just up to him now to work and perform.

Maybe get a clue and take the L here. The kid wasn't a 1st round pick no matter what ESPiN claimed and he didn't do himself any favors by refusing to workout and acting like he did in the interviews.

They will do fine.

One of the big "sins" Shedeur supposedly committed was talking about how he and pops changed the culture at Jackson St and Colorado. He said he could do the same for them. That's exactly what they did, and it isn't being brash and obnoxious. I can see the staff on losing teams feeling insulted that Sanders is descripting how he could change their failing programs.

In 2 years Colorado was getting sky high ratings and the Colorado University and Boulder were flooded with cash. Spring games were packed and the seasons were sold out. Shedeur was #1 NIL athlete with close to 7 million. He was among top QBs in CFB multiple years despite no OL or run game.

All that panicked NFL and team execs who - like most sports leagues these days - are typically staffed by frat bois who drank beer and read a few books at uni, and then learned the non-threatening corporate posture so they could get an oversized check to make the little witch at home happy (pool noodle guys usually have "moody" wives).

Eveywhere we look in 2025 we see failure. The business classes are failures, the politicians are failures, the universities are failures, the justice system has become third world where laws are made-up on the fly, healthcare is a joke with fratboy CEOs getting gunned down by failed students.

Deion comes around and its the squishes who are most upset. He advocates clean living with a purpose and to be strong about it. He does/says some foolish things but one reason is that he's a doer who takes risks and doesn't live in fear of mistakes like the corporates. He tells his players to be men and not little boys blaming others and failing to learn and work hard. A lot of people like that instead of the mealy-mouth interviews with scripted bimbo questions and answers.

If we had to pick who had best chance to win a title first - RU or Colorado - the pick would be easy. Not that Schiano is a bad coach. Sanders just send ripples through the universe and it answers back. "Fortune favors the bold" as some say .

The smarter people recognize that in today's prefabbed culture the conspiracies are mostly true . Marketing, psyops, corruption etc rule.
Its easy to see how people use media to lay groundwork for some con being run because they don't eve try to hide it anymore . Shedeur was getting great draft predictions and suddenly a huge 180 was all over the internet. Anyone just a little savvy could see the shadows on the wall. The set-up for the fall was floated. Fans everywhere who never even saw more than a game by Sanders, were expertly citing Shedeur's ball pat and holding. They had no idea about the awful OL or 134th run game and 100+ sacks in 2 years. Just a big echo chamber.

NEWSFLASH: Ali was a racist *******. What he did to Joe Frazier would get him drummed out of civilized society in 2025.

Ali was refused the use of drinking fountains as a kid. He said nothing in life scared him and his childhood friends as much as Emmett Till's murder. Ali probably knew more about racist a-holes than you and me. Like Malcolm X, Ali became much more of a humanist over time. Ali apologized to Frazier after admitting he was too hard on him. Ali had learned how to taunt and upset foes by watching Gorgeous George.

"Ali's trash talk was inspired by professional wrestler "Gorgeous George" Wagner, after he saw George's talking ability attract huge crowds to events. In a 1969 interview he stated that he met with George in Las Vegas in 1961, that George told him that talking a big game would earn paying fans who either wanted to see him win or wanted to see him lose, thus Clay transformed himself into a self-described "big-mouth and a bragger." Wiki.

Hip-hop and rap also took the bravado and "look at me win!" attitude from pro wrestling. Sanders also learned it and that's how he created "Prime" character at FSU. "Prime" is just Sanders' version of "The Rock" ("The Rock would then regularly insult the audience, WWF performers, and interviewers in his promos"). Our fav politician also uses wrestling blowhard tactics

Its true that the athlete/celeb that people love to hate are often responding to the marketing. Saban remarked that a lot of the pre-draft criticisms of Shedeur were frothy nothings.

Saban and I agree about the same "conspiracies."

"Saban also questioned the draft process, suggesting that reputations can be formed based on perceptions rather than actual performance, which might be contributing to Sanders' unexpected slide. He noted, "People start talking and behind the scenes they create a reputation for somebody that may not even be what their reputation is but everybody starts agreeing. And everybody starts believing it." He emphasized: "I don't think you should do that. You should look at what you see in a guy."

I think it's worthwhile to keep in mind that there were only about 6-7 teams who were looking for a QB this draft, and two of them picked one up in the first round. Thus, it wasn't the NFL who was passing on Shedeur (whom, by the way, I like. Happy that my Browns got him finally.). It was New Orleans, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and to a somewhat lesser degree, the Raiders and the Rams. To me, it was the Raiders passing on him that was surprising. He seemed like such a natural fit for the perennially over the top Raiders. But maybe Pete Carroll had already sucked all the air out of the Raiders' locker room.
No offense but you were a big Josh Rosen guy. And he was better than Sanders is now.

His dad was and is insufferable but he had world class talent. The son is just as insufferable, but has mid talent.

That’s a bad combo.

LOL. You really are off in the deep end.

Again, why are we ignoring the fact that Sanders acted like a d-bag, refused to work out leading up to the draft and was basically a jerk off in interviews? It's hilarious to me that people are suddenly now aware that interviews and meetings and visits factor in the draft process, as if it is a new thing. It's been a thing for YEARS.

I still remember the thread where he claimed that Black's helmet was the reason he didn't make the catch against VT (IIRC) because he was blinded by it...lol. Meanwhile replays clearly show the ball hitting his hands and he just didn't secure it.

This whole Shadeur Sanders saga is so odd.

Teams did not want him for an early pick because they did not want him. PERIOD.

But because his name is so big.. they now have to answer as to why they did not want him and they cannot be honest.. they have to walk on eggshells and be sure they do not say the wrong thing. So that then produces this whole conspiracy theory.

Truth is that no draft pick is a sure things. Some seem like sure things and work out and some don't work out. If a team picks, say a no-name white QB over Sanders and that white QB doesn't work out.. that will be looked at as proof there was some racially-tinged conspiracy.. but it is always a crap shoot.

Maybe the whole conspiracy is among those who assumed Shadeur Sanders should go higher. Why doesn't Cam Ward's top pick cut off all this conspiracy stuff at the start?

Sanders holds the ball too long looking to make the big play... his Dad has been his coach coddling him his whole life, it seems..

In the NFL he'd have to change.. BIG TIME CHANGE.. teams just don't believe he can do it.. not enough to risk a high pick.

To try to twist this into some racially-tinged conspiracy rather than teams doing what they deem is in their best interests is nuts.

The other thing is that the pro-Sanders camp is going on and on about "production" and how could someone with that kind of production fall like this? Well, let's be clear, there are QBs that come out with great college production that simply don't project as a big time starter. I mean Dillon Gabriel had great production and he was, what, a 4th rounder?

The other thing, which again is laughable as people seem completely unaware how drafts work, is that teams often draft traits over production. Josh Allen had decent college stats, but was a sub 60% passer at Wyoming. But he was big, had a cannon and his mobility for a guy that size was off the charts. What are Sanders' projectible traits? His arm is OK. His mobility is just OK. He's not a big guy. I brought up Gabriel, who had really good production but was a middle rounder but we also have scouts drooling over Drew Allar. Allar has pedestrian stats relatively speaking but he has projectible skills and NFL QB size. That's just how the league works sometimes.

Now take that analysis and add in a pampered kid who has never seen a HC that wasn't his dad, who treated him differently than most other players. Further the kid has an elevated sense of worth and didn't work out for teams and approached interviews and meetings as if he were doing them a favor by just showing up. There is a fine line between being confident and being a douche and it seems Shadeur blew past that line a long time ago.

Roll all that into one ball and you can see how a kid can slide. Now, in fairness, I figured someone would eventually nab him in the 3rd.

When you look at the learning curve to go from a great college QB to a great NFL QB and the amount of work it takes to stay at the top of the game once you get there...

That's what killed it for him. He's a social media star, endorsements with many major brands, he's a rapper, has a ton of celebrity friends, he's at nightclubs all over the country, regularly.

The NFL wants a a QB in the film room, spending more time than everyone else on the team, leading by work ethic and determination. That's the role of the NFL QB.

Maybe Shedeur can be the first to excel and have all these other things going on. Or maybe he'll realize what he's up against and leave all that behind for the film room in Cleveland.

But NFL teams weren't going to bet on either of those two outcomes and hard to criticize them. Its unlikely he'll do either.

Cam Ward on the other hand is a football guy. Saw a video of the two of them throwing together and Cam's like, "You taking a water break already? Sheduer's like: Gatorade, they sponsor me, they pay me. Cam's like, "Football pays me."

Pretty prescient comment considering he's going to sign for 4 years, $48M. Shedeur's looking at like $4m.

I said Rosen would either be the next Johnny Manziel or the next Tom Brady. He had a lot of skills and was really smart, but he was a head case and he went the Manziel route. And you were a big Darnold guy, who is on his fifth team and has had one good season. Of course, I was a big Darnold guy as well, and still think he could be a solid QB in the right situation.

As to Shedeur, is he a Rosen/Manziel guy, or a really good QB. I think he has much more upside than Gabriel, but I like Gabriel as well. Since I'm a Browns fan, I'll be rooting for whoever is taking the snaps.

I like this angle.. maybe the kid really needed this wake-up call and will make the most of it.. but he'll still be limited by his measurables. That said.. other QBs have beat the odds of not having NFL size.

Saw that aswell, here is one article on it: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...t-slide-citing-emotional-distress-and-trauma/

Here's a piece of the article from the link, what a bunch of BS. If you can get money for "emotional distress and trauma to the Plaintiff as a fan and consumer.", then Rutgers owes me a lot.
In the lawsuit, "John Doe" says he's a dedicated fan of the Colorado Buffaloes, and that he closely followed Sanders over the past two college football seasons. The Plaintiff claims that the reports and "leaked statements" suggesting that Sanders "tanked interviews," "wasn't prepared" and "was too cocky" in the pre-draft process helped create a narrative that "unjustly harmed" his reputation. These "slanderous statements" caused "emotional distress and trauma to the Plaintiff as a fan and consumer."

I recall you liked Baker Mayfield a lot. He was a four year college starter from a prodigious passing conference so I figured he would do well. Despite Baker's skills I liked Darnold's upside because he only had one season of HS QB (he was a LB at first). He ended-up filling in for an injured USC QB with little prep and still had a good rookie season. The next season defenses were gunning for him, and although not having a bad season the lack of polish showed.

The worst thing that could have happened to Darnold was going to the Jets (better at wrecking QBs than developing them). Eventually San Fran loved Darnold but they had a good QB so he was a back-up. No surprise he had a good season at Minn. I expect he will turn-out like Geno Smith, another Jet goof-up that blossomed later.

sounds like a modern day Joe namath
Went to Shea Stadium to watch an exhibition game between the Jets and Kansas City (with Len Dawson). Rookie Joe Namath got to play in the 2nd half and threw a frozen rope way downfield to Don Maynard. He had a HOF arm before playing a regular season game in the AFL.
