I have to side with @mdk01 here. He wouldn’t be doing this behind the Giants current line. It’s pretty amazing that he did what he did behind those lines. That said, we all heard why Schoen made his call on SB. It was about investing in the OL to protect a QB that they mistakenly spent too much on. You can understand why he did it, just didn’t work out.

I kind of agree but that doesn't stop me from wondering how Barkley and Daniels on the Giants this year would have been.

That’s a whole different story. Not sure how it would’ve been, but they would’ve needed to get a big play WR (no Nabers under that scenario). Washington already had McLaurin.

Lamar played really well at the end of the game - amazing play given the conditions. But yeah, he got off to a rough start. But overall, he did more than enough to win the game.

Also: I will never not be pissed at the Jets for failing to go all in on getting Lamar and instead vastly overpaying a washed-up QB. The Jets may have failed in any endeavor to Lamar as a restricted FA, but would have at least signaled organizational competence.

I think Lamar is Steve Young 2.0. HOF player that keeps coming up short in the playoffs due to bad luck or bad decisions at the wrong time. But just like Young, he is so good and will likely get over that hump one season.

I think tall TEs are great for jump balls but they can struggle with lower balls while TE is in motion. Squatting, falling, reaching low - these can be problems. Smith was in an awkward spot for a low ball and Andrews was falling backwards so when ball hits him his body is moving back and away

I also think (looking at play in slo-mo) that Andrews (6' 5") couldn't feel the ball. The ball skips off his gloves and into the hard chest plate (kick returners are usually flat chested since pecs can make a ball bounce). Then he's looking around and grasping blindly. I don't think he really felt the ball on his hands or in his chest. Its known that some gloves ran reduce sensitivity even while increasing tack.

Andrews had dropped another pass earlier and he had ball punched out for a forced fumble. Buds hands weren't in the game

Could be, not all NFL TEs are as coordinated as the NFL WRs, perhaps being bulkier limits their flexibility some. A guy like Kelce who is more lanky than bulked-up seems to catch almost everything.

There is no excuse for Jackie Smith on the TD drop though. He didn't need to slide for that pass. If he just slowed-up and stayed up he could have caught it at waist level with his HANDS. Instead he drops down to catch it in his chest--ooof. This replay below is a great angle of how bad it was. Brutal choke.

I'm honestly good with whatever happens on Sunday. However, I also realize that when you get a rare opportunity you have to make a grab at the ring. This is going to be a tough watch for me.

Sure, there are a bunch of examples. A recent one is the 2019 49ers, which went from 4-12 to 11-3 and a Super Bowl loss.

Or if you want to go back a couple of decades, there's the 1999 St. Louis Rams, who went from 4-12 to 11-3 and won the Super Bowl.
