Will need it jump to 6 million a year in principal means about 1.2 million or almost a 1 million more a year for paying players.Nowhere near the big boys but nice to see the big jump in revenue.
No chance we signed with a 3rd party company rather than with Nike directlyHow do these deals work? I read we signed with a 3rd party company that supplies Nike. Is that really signing with Nike? Or is that company a division of Nike?
it's RutgersThe fact they went without a deal for a year is criminal. I can’t see how the ball was dropped on this. Talk about poorly handled. I guess the AD was more focused on women’s gymnastics than getting this done.
I agree, but no Penn State fan, ever in the history of life, should be throwing stones after a three decade long, institutionally hidden, child rape cover-upThe fact they went without a deal for a year is criminal. I can’t see how the ball was dropped on this. Talk about poorly handled. I guess the AD was more focused on women’s gymnastics than getting this done.
Except for local shops in college towns ( ex. Scarlet Fever in New Brunswick), the Big Ten needs to make sure all companies that get a license to produce a product ( ex. Alarm clocks that play a school fight song) for schools have to make them for all Big Ten universities. Why isn't this type deal made at the conference or league level?
Wouldn't that make more sense?
Everyone complains about players "wanting their own" but the actual spirit of college athletics seems to be "every program/conference get their own and give two sh@ts about anyone else or the collective improvement of college athletics."
I love that idea.Except for local shops in college towns (ex. Scarlet Fever in New Brunswick), the Big Ten needs to make sure all companies that get a license to produce a product (ex. Alarm clocks that play a school fight song) for schools have to make them for all Big Ten universities.
Here is part of the article from Carino:No chance we signed with a 3rd party company rather than with Nike directly
“ He interviewed very well” our AD on previous horrible Football hire. The fact they went without a deal for a year is criminal. I can’t see how the ball was dropped on this. Talk about poorly handled. I guess the AD was more focused on women’s gymnastics than getting this done.
That is a good idea. I actually have the RU Rah Rah etc.,,as a ringtone for one of my contacts.I love that idea.
No chance we signed with a 3rd party company rather than with Nike directly
That’s because RU has the cheapest fanbase in AmericaPathetically, that seems to be the case. We're probably the only Big Ten program with this kind of low major deal.
Because Phil wants other schools fan buy Nike apparel while he funds his Al mater OregonWhy couldn’t it be negotiated to include some NIL money?
been saying for years, the entire dept needs to be fired and start from scratch. You'll never meet a more incompetent lot outside of IRS employeesSurprised there's not more discussion of this. Is there another thread somewhere? Feels like a huge indictment of our Athletic Department
Another thread where something positive turns into a negative for some fans.
If "worst" is your takeaway, you have reading comprehension problems and like to put your own spin on things. Just like in the drones thread. That's OK, and we are all different.I mean...what's positive here? We have the worst apparel license in the big ten...not even a direct deal with Nike. According to Fonseca it's an arrangement on par with mid and low majors. He gave the list of D1 schools that have deals through these BSN clowns.
Cincinnati, Hofstra, Wichita State, Charlotte, North Texas, Vermont, New Hampshire, Alaska.

Rutgers' deal is $6M/year for 5 years.
Illinois- $4.45M/year
Indiana- $5.4M/year (10 years)
Iowa- $4M/year
Better than Minnesota's and Michigan State's deals too. Maryland's deal is with their sugar daddy alumnus.
Please explain how more money than our peer B1G institutions is the "worst" deal in B1G.
Be happy, it's fun!
Let’s take that $6M per year and put that into our NIL. one dayIf "worst" is your takeaway, you have reading comprehension problems and like to put your own spin on things. Just like in the drones thread. That's OK, and we are all different.

How about GFY.Ha. It's you who has reading comprehension AND perhaps basic arithmetic problems. Read the deal again.
"The proposal is for a five-year deal with an option of a five-year extension worth a combined $30 million “inclusive of the extension term.”
No wonder you believe in flying saucers. Aren't you embarrassed to be so rudely and aggressively incorrect? How about an apology.
What the heck is up with my Get Smart Shoe phone?—Knightshift didn’t write the second paragraph lol.Another thread where something positive turns into a negative for some fans.
It wasn’t that long ago that we would have begged to get $6 million a year from a TV deal, let alone a merchandise deal. Maybe it isn’t Ohio State, Texas, State Penn level, but it isn’t like we signed with Keds or Etonic.[
How about GFY.
The only place saying "inclusive of the extension term" is the highly suspect NJ.com sewer, a place you love to swim in, bc you are a turd at the bottom of the sewer.
Can't find any official documents or minutes from the BOG. I know people who can get the facts, and until they come out, I will not share them publicly or with you, for sure.
But even taking the dimmest and dimwitted view you usually take, the RU deal is not worst. It's better than Minnesota's at $2.2M and better than Michigan State's at $2.1 Million.
If you want to lob insults and start war, make sure you are correct. Otherwise, be prepared to get annihilated like you have gotten on the drone thread. Have a great life, you are not worth any more of my valuable time.
you know some of those deals were signed almost 10yrs ago right? If "worst" is your takeaway, you have reading comprehension problems and like to put your own spin on things. Just like in the drones thread. That's OK, and we are all different.

Recognize that those deals are older.you know some of those deals were signed almost 10yrs ago right?
this isn't a good deal for a team in a premier conference in the media capital of the world.
RU marketing is abysmal at best and these type deals are the result
MSU deal was 10 year 34 million before they signed a higher extension.Recognize that those deals are older.
RU's marketing is not abysmal, as you put it, but it is not anywhere near great. Their branding improved quite a bit in the last 10 years. At least in Newark airport, there are block Rs in the terminals to remind people that Rutgers is the State University of New Jersey.
But the best marketing is to be a blue blood, which Rutgers is not.
The next best marketing is to have a sustained record of winning, and going to the NCAA tournament for men's hoops, and several winning seasons. Rutgers just had its first winning season since 2014 in 2023. Maybe that is why Indiana got a sweet deal from Adidas because of their off the charts year this year.
Michigan State's deal was 2024, and RU's is better even if it is $3M/year.
Don't see Minnesota getting that much more when they get their new deal.
The negative drumbeat of some around here is tiresome. Perhaps people need more realistic expectations and comparisons to true peer institutions.
I think Salvi has you on this one.Recognize that those deals are older.

Also understand that the number is "total value. " We will be paid much less than 3 mil a year.I think Salvi has you on this one.
So how much do they pay for the first 5 years.. if they do not extend another 5? Seems like it is back-loaded. I do not like the idea of big promised money for the extension if the vendor has all the control. That is, there is no upside if Rutgers out-performs during teh first 5 years.. the pay rate for teh second 5 years is set in stone. And if Rutgers under-performs, then the vendor can drop us or renegotiate much lower.
Has anyone seen the contract? I have seen multiple postings. Some saying 5 year 30 million with a 5 year option. Some saying total value 10 year 30 million. The Asbury park article posted above, poorly written and vague, states as you say the 10 year option. Also understand that the number is "total value. " We will be paid much less than 3 mil a year.
The apparel contract between Rutgers and BSN won’t be posted to the Rutgers website. Reporters are probably filing OPRA requests for this contract. The university will comply with these requests after a contract is fully signed.Has anyone seen the contract? I have seen multiple postings. Some saying 5 year 30 million with a 5 year option. I looked on the Rutgers website and can’t find the contract. It’s odd to post 10 year value when the option hasn’t been triggered.
