How is it possible that a D1 team simply refuses to box out.
This is not hyperbole...we don't do it.

Stonehill was out rebounding Rutgers for most of the game which clearly is unacceptable.Rebounding is all about positioning /boxing out and having players who want to get the ball. How is it possible that a D1 team simply refuses to box out.

Much easier to box out...lolCoaches, while you’re at it, please teach the team how to make layups, free throws and open 3’s as well. It may help
Boxing out was taught to me during the first week of rec league basketball, the same week we learned the chest pass and bounce pass. Boxing out was second nature to most rec league basketball players by age of 10.How is it possible that a D1 team simply refuses to box out.

Agree...but we are not doing it...and it's fkng KILLING USBoxing out was taught to me during the first week of rec league basketball, the same week we learned the chest pass and bounce pass. Boxing out was second nature to most rec league basketball players by age of 10.
Seems like most of the time when a shot goes up, most of our guys immediately turn and look to the basket instead of looking to get a body on someone. They repeatedly get caught watching the ball or waiting for the ball to come to them instead of getting a body on someone and then going up and getting it.Stonehill was out rebounding Rutgers for most of the game which clearly is unacceptable.Rebounding is all about positioning /boxing out and having players who want to get the ball.
Technique is simple, shot goes up, go get a body with your forearm, stay connected, pivot and keep your a.. on that body pushing backward. However that’s only 10%. Rebounding is also 45% heart and 45% desire. We don’t have any of it.Seems like most of the time when a shot goes up, most of our guys immediately turn and look to the basket instead of looking to get a body on someone. Cliff is the worst offender he never boxes out against those guys yesterday he should have had 30 rebounds but he also gets pushed out so easily; Agree with above there was one in the second half where the shot went up and we had two guys under the boards and we just watched the ball and the Stonehill guy while he didn't get the rebound nearly got it from Cliff and Mawot I believe just a perfect example of us watching the ball and not putting a body on the or any defenderTechnique is simple, shot goes up, go get a body with your forearm, stay connected, pivot and keep your a.. on that body pushing backward. These types of post crack me up. Maybe the coaches forgot about rebounding at practice? lol. Definitely not a coaching issue. We had a tall roster for years. This year it’s on the small side. It’s also young and inexperienced. That’s a bad combination for a lot of things. How is it possible that a D1 team simply refuses to box out.

What part cracks you up exactly? These types of post crack me up. Maybe the coaches forgot about rebounding at practice? lol. Definitely not a coaching issue. We had a tall roster for years. It’s a player issue. The idea that Pike is not coaching box out is funny. He literally talks about rebounding every post game. He’s focused on it but the roster is just not able. What part cracks you up exactly?
The part where we literally don't box out? I am a HUGE Pike supporter from day 1...there is no excuse for this.
Size has nothing to do with not attempting to box out.
Multiple things can be true at one time (youth, lack of intensity, etc)...none of that excuses not putting your *** on someone when the ball goes up.
I'm not sure coaches even bother anymore. They've given up.How is it possible that a D1 team simply refuses to box out.
