It feels like 80% VTech fans in here. Smh at the state of this program.13/13 1st quarter
Wait until the Iowa game. Will be 7000 high school girls there rooting for what's her name.It feels like 80% VTech fans in here. Smh at the state of this program.
It dawned on me the other day that RU women's bball has never really been bad. From Grentz, through the first 20-25 years of CVS, it's been a very good program, but I'm starting to wonder if it'll ever recover, what with NIL and all. I just don't see the support there. I hope I'm wrong.Wait until the Iowa game. Will be 7000 high school girls there rooting for what's her name.
I would LOVE to see the program turn back around. It dawned on me the other day that RU women's bball has never really been bad. Unfortunately we haven’t had any talent I really thought Washington would turn things around but we are showing nothing that even hints at thatVirginia Tech made 17 three pointers to win 84-59 while Rutgers shot bricks.Where has all the talent gone?
I think the team has a few talented players, but not enough to win against the good programs and will have a hard time keeping up with programs that are considered ( at best) pretty goodUnfortunately we haven’t had any talent I really thought Washington would turn things around but we are showing nothing that even hints at that
Right now I'd saY next year produce or goParenthetically: how many years does CW get at RU? What’s reasonable to turn around a WBB team.? Many have done it very fast…
In regard to whether it will ever recover, things can turn on a dime.It dawned on me the other day that RU women's bball has never really been bad. I agree with three.Quese took over a program in disarray and should be given 3 years to straighten out the program
I would LOVE to see the program turn back around.
Why do you have to keep harping on this. CVS left a program in shambles. I don't believe it was her intent, but it is common when coaches stay too long and then resign at the worst time for the program. We know how it got there and Pat made things worse by punting on the program

We don't need to keep being reminded. I was a huge supporter of Vivian until after Covid. I'm not saying she shouldn't have left earlier, but the win / loss records - while not up to her standards - were not bad - as posted in another thread. Until post Covid, when I don't think she was up to coaching and tried anyhow, and then the season with Eatmann when we should have had a new coach in. Period.
I'm an RU grad and we were proud followers of the program for over 15 years, and still follow from afar. We need to figure out how to move on, not rehash how we got where we are. As someone else speculated, Rutgers may never return to where they were during the best of Vivian's years. She was a remarkable coach who many really good players wanted to play for.
posted 2 free tix over a week ago. both sites. ZERO interest. What has been done to this program...It feels like 80% VTech fans in here. Smh at the state of this program.
I agree have to definitely give her at least 3 because the way and when CVS left the first year shouldn’t even count the only difference now is the portal but you’d like to see improvement on the recruiting trail and on the courtRight now I'd saY next year produce or go
Producing would mean putting out a team that was competitive in every game and might not win against the top programs but make a tough game out of it.

I stopped reading at "useless and misplaced energy" because that sums up a lot of bac's posts on the football and women's basketball boards. A lot of whine and no cheese. To continue bringing up CVS is useless and misplaced energy. Seems some are more disappointed that she is not still the coach so they could go full throttle with their criticisms of her.
All this talk of the past few seasons and the current state of the program having an effect on ability to restore the program is an overreaction, IMO. In today's time, the past has as minimal of an effect on the future as it ever has.
We have impeccable facilities and great academics. The coach selection makes the difference. Coquese deserves this year and another recruiting round to see if she was the correct selection. She and her staff are doing a good job of developing the talent. Kaylene is lifting her game and Chyna has made huge strides under this staff. I also like what I'm seeing with the development of Antonia's game.
What is going on now has only a few things to do with CVS. We can thank CVS for leaving us with our best player, All Big Ten, Kaylene Smikle, along with our best rebounder, Big Ten Honoree, Chyna Cornwell, and a steadily progressing 6'3" Swiss army knife who currently is saving us at point guard, Antonia Bates. Don't want to leave out Erica who provides depth on the roster. CVS had numerous other talented players on the roster when Coquese took over. Still had Sakima, K Sanderlin, S. Lassiter, and L. Petree. Not a bare cupboard. I know Sakima's situation was different, but she was in house. Coquese either was not able or maybe did not wish to keep that talent.
Bottom line,.....outside of diehards, fans are fickle. If we start winning games, the fans will come. Until then, we will have a half empty arena. We all know this. So, at this point, it's squarely on coach to lift the current talent to a higher level of play. If she were to do that over the first five games of Big Ten play, all of the sudden, we sit up in our seats and say"Hmmm! Next thing you know the RAC is starting to fill up again and this conversation is forgotten.
I can agree with what you're saying, but got to give bac credit for his game breakdown posts on the MBB board.I stopped reading at "useless and misplaced energy" because that sums up a lot of bac's posts on the football and women's basketball boards. A lot of whine and no cheese.![]()

Oh, I agree with everything you said in the rest of your post. I admit I do not closely follow WBB, but for that matter, I do not follow MBB that closely either. @MADHAT1 is right in his post above regarding bac and MBB and bac only coming over here to poo on things when they go "bad" for WBB, but he does a good job on MBB. No reason to take the low road on WBB. The whole CVS transition and how it was handled is water under the bridge. Onward, upward.Maybe I should have place the first sentence at the end of the post.
Actually, you should read the rest. I'm kinda all over the place. with my thoughts in that post. Besides the response to CVS bashing, it really is focused on the concern a lot of us have about ever getting back to the top. I say we give Coquese a fair chance and if she doesn't get it done, an up-and-comer from a mid-major school would jump at the chance to come to RU. The school is set up to continue in it's former winning traditions. Facilities, top conference, talent-rich region, and last but not least, academics. As we know, timing is important with coaching selection too.
Well said.No reason to take the low road on WBB. The whole CVS transition and how it was handled is water under the bridge. Onward, upward.
