Newsflash… all schools have people that drive around players and bequest pretty much there every need (bigger schools w more success this is much more prevalent)

Athens is a quintessential college town in every way imaginable. Beautiful, cozy, great bar scene, tremendous “scenery” and, wait for it… winning football

Looking forward to going there when FSU plays in 2027, as well as Tuscaloosa in 2025

Two iconic brands with large, passionate fanbases, huge stadiums and tremendous tailgating. Can’t beat it

sadly you are right and the only way details of whether alcohol was a factor would be if the survivors of the crash said if the driver was drinking or not.in the statements they make..

You'd think so at some point it would be done. But I'd think lifesaving efforts completely overshadowed any other consideration. As far as "certainly taking a blood sample", who knows what the protocols are in these situations. Tiger Woods got away without having a blood test when he flew his car off the highway, even despite the circumstances and his mental state immediately after the crash.

One article does state : "On Wednesday, Athens-Clarke County Police told 11Alive there was no obvious signs of alcohol at the scene of the crash. Authorities are awaiting the toxicology report."

Agree that lifesaving comes first. And even if I were the parent and knew my daughter was not drinking- I would hope they would have done it just to take that off the table.
As for Tiger Woods…his was just him in the car. There are no liability issues so much easier to sweep it under the rug.

What a shame. Carter fled when he could have stayed the scene and helped out. Who knows, maybe had a chance to help save a life. This from the article: "Carter was driving a 2021 Jeep Cherokee Trackhawk with a Hellcat V-8 motor during the incident, a vehicle he received as part of an NIL deal with an Ohio luxury car dealership". That's a beast of an SUV. I wonder if he caused the accident and/or speeding/driving under the influence caused him to flee the scene. My guess is he didn't have a BAC administered once he returned to the accident scene.

This will probably cost Carter all of a spot or two in the 2023 NFL draft. Instead of being picked in the top 2 , he will be picked in the top 4.

My gut tells me that almost everyone knew of his involvement...

That is also one hell of a vehicle for anyone to try to handle.

I almost asked the same question. I was thinking it's probably a UGA alum or one of the old bagman. Kid got a minimum $90,000 car for NIL.
Muscle engine/large SUV + stupid college kid =tragedy.

Agreed. Hard to believe that the recruiting assistant acting in the role of their designated driver had a BAC of .197 and she was driving in excess of 100mph. A recipe for disaster which sadly proved true.
