WOULD MAKE ZERO SENSE FOR SETON HALL

Eh I wouldn’t go that far.

SHU fans were virtually shut out from the RAC this winter. They have basically no shots at getting tickets unless they pay up because the RAC is only 8K and we sell out way in advance through season tickets and preseason packages.

Meanwhile they can’t completely shutout Rutgers fans from Newark. Even if they don’t open the top there will always be 10-20% Rutgers fans at the Rock when we play them unless they somehow keep us all out.

Meanwhile if they played us at MSG they wouldn’t have to face us at the RAC and could bring as many fans as they want.

I actually think there’s more in it for them to play us there than for us.

It would make zero sense for us.

Play 'Cuse/St Johns there. NEUTRAL SITE. Split tickets/vip/suites, etc down the middle.

Lot to be said for this.

Nova is the best example. Seems like a no brainer. Could sell out Garden and Wells Fargo.
Duke and NC no incentive.

Clemson at Greenville? Seems fair.

Trying to think of others. Would Houston or TCU want to come north? Nearby neutral arenas rather than home date on their courts? Have no idea how they draw?

Michigan agreed to play UNC in Charlotte. I think we could get some interest now for deals like this with the blue bloods. The game would have a lot more juice than it used to. Michigan still more of a brand than RU but MSG would be more attractive than playing in Detroit (not sure if there is a return game somewhere for Michigan).

Think the biggest opportunity if we are willing to upgrade the OOC schedule is try to get a blue blood to come in every year without a return game at their court. Think other teams would be interested to help with NY/NJ recruiting. We would just have to ask our selves if this is worth it for us.

I like this.

Agree. No rational for a top school to agree to a neutral court game that is actually very similar to a home game for RU.
Kentucky played SHU at MSG a few years back. I think it was a chance to have some its fans combine the game with a mini vacation in NYC.

I'd love to be wrong. If we can bring in a top team to MSG for a big showdown every year and have it be a 1 and done neutral site game, that would be a huge win for us.

no its makes zero sense for them and for us

its one of the worst ideas i have seen on the board.

RUTGERS SETON HALL GAMES SHOULD NOT BE PLAYED IN ANOTHER STATE..

That’s the issue. I think unless it’s a tourney, blue bloods will insist on a return.

YES THEY WILL.....schools may now actually not want to come to play us there...unless we return a game there...if so then we might as well play at the rac

As we get to 2024 and beyond, I think we may have the confidence to schedule tougher OOC games and maybe even an island holiday tournament in the Bahamas or some place nice. We will have higher caliber players and you need that on neutral courts to play schools like Gonzaga and UNC, Kentucky, etc.

Great argument BAC.

You managed to respond to zero points in my post.

BUT IF YOU SCREAM LOUD YOU ARE RIGHT.

Well done.

its just a horrible idea from both rutgers and seton hall perspectives

why the **** WOULD EITHER GIVE UP THEIR HOME COURT ADVANTAGE just to play in a bigger space

Hypothetical. What is the fan split for attendance if RU and SHU did play at MSG?

Duke and Carolina don’t play at Greensboro or Charlotte…would be cool to play UConn, Nova, Gtown, or Cuse at MSG

everyone else comes to Trapezoid of Terror

Add St.John’s. We almost had Baylor a few years ago but don’t know if there was a return in exchange. Houston might want to try to expand their foothold. Maybe Jamie Dixon at TCU would want a trip down memory lane. Hard to think who else. Zags? BYU? ND with new coach?

If Rutgers secured a home-and-home deal with a big-time program such as Gonzaga (since they were mentioned upstream), with the Rutgers end played at MSG, that would be a big-time move that would attract a lot of attention and respect to a burgeoning program. Not sure why there would be any trepidation about that. It's a positive step no matter who wins the games.

This isn't football, where the top teams strive to play every game at home...
