I was hard on him and thought he didn't belong at this level early on but he has really improved his play since the OSU game and has very sweet shot. I agree his defensive IQ is high.

Other side of that coin is just two more misses, one at Purdue and one at Northwestern and we are 10-7/2-4 and we are back to "Fire Pike" posts. As you wrote the margin is really thin when you are trying to pile up wins in this league.
Except we deserved to win those 2 games and the Ohio state game. We were the better overall team , offensively and defensively. We had the lead for almost 35 minutes lost it and had the guts to retake the lead.

Kaplan, from Wikipedia
Basketball career
In his Rutgers career, he averaged 16.4 points and 7.6 rebounds per game, with a 18.2 field goal percentage and an 88.8 free throw percentage (the second-highest in school history). His . 927 free throw percentage in 1989-90 is the highest in Rutgers history.
From Rutgers basketball Media Guide: Highest career free throw percentage - (Bob Lloyd .898, Steve Kaplan .888, Myles Mack .858)

Looks like I misread the Wikipedia entry. Honestly it feels right that Bobby Lloyd is #1. I don't know where he ended up but for much of that season, 69-70, not 89-90, he was leading the country. Played pro back in Israel where he read a star IIRC

Your post just proved you know nothing about Rutgers basketball.
I don’t go around starting threads by calling people Clyde!
Never compared anyone to a former player
I watched Hughes play here at Rutgers I went to the games great player, still think what Cam did last night was a better single game than any transfer in a single game we ever have seen. I believe he will continue to have does games over the next 2 years
You are entitled to your opinion.
As far as what happens to these players after they leave Rutgers, I don’t really pay attention. I just googled Keith sensing something cryptic in your post. Sorry he passed meant no disrespect. You’re entitled to your opinion my name is not Clyde.

I posted in another thread that there have been some terrific players that transferred into RU since I started following in the early 80's, including Keith Hughes and Earl Duncan who are mentioned above, Brent Dabbs, Rob Hodgson, Clarence Tillman, Steve Worthy and Akwasi Yeboah. I'm sure there are others. Cam seems well on his way to being one of the best ever and maybe some day we'll look back and say he was the best. Go RU!

Cam Spencer is playing great lately. For me, Keith Hughes is still the greatest transfer we've ever had in basketball. Keith was A-10 player of the year his senior season when he averaged a double-double while leading us to the NCAAs. It is hard to find box scores/game logs of that season, but Keith scored 40 at Penn State to lead us to a 79-78 victory on Jan 28, 1991. That's tied for the 10th highest single game points total in Rutgers history.

Spencer is an awesome fit for what this year's team needed. If Hughes had a flaw in his game, it was at the FT line where he was a 67.8% shooter in his two years at Rutgers. If both were on the same team, we'd all want Cam on the line over Hughes.

keith Hughes was a great player to watch, out of carteret High School. Would have been great to see him go straight to RU instead of Transferring out. What could have been ?

I don’t know who the F Gus is but no need for the disrespectful miss naming, corn pop
I don’t think OriginalKnight has ever replied to a post on here without insulting whoever he’s replying to so I wouldn’t take it too personally

No enjoyment, just frustrating when guys get real nuts after one game.

I suppose the real old timers have seen a LOT of losing can't help themselves, which is totally understandable
