This is what they posted

184 lbs - Brian Soldano, Rutgers

True freshman Brian Soldano had big shoes to fill in the Rutgers lineup with All-American John Poznanski in redshirt, but the #8 recruit in the class of 2022 appears to be up for the challenge. In three duals this weekend, Soldano was 3-0 with a major, an tech, and a fall. His major came against #18 Will Feldkamp of Clarion, and his tech came against #22 Anthony Montalvo of Arizona State. Soldano isn’t messing around.

Definitly had an off year wasnt close to being what he was so prob felt RS made sense. Word was he looked great this year and there was an article him and soldano helping each other/working out -- so who got the upper hand? Tough to see him beating Soldano. Maybe soldano pushed him into RS

Why? Almost all college wrestlers redshirt at some point.
The risk, if there is any, would come from Poz thinking 184 was his best chance of success and Soldano being in the way. So it depends on how things work out next year. There has been suggestion of Soldano redshirting, but I don't understand how that makes sense if he proves to be as strong as we expect. Hard to know when we don't hear about all the thinking around the situation.

If there is confidence in Soldano staying at 184, Poz needs to make a decision. If either one of them is to transition to 197, it should start now for Poz or next year for Soldano.

Oddly, Soldano and Poz are both listed as possibilities for the Stanford match on Saturday. Perhaps someone didn't get the memo.

This was in the works for a while. I think he was either thinking about it or knew he was redshirting at Wagner football game.

1st year-Poz redshirts, Soldano goes this year
2nd year- Someone grows out of the weight class or Soldano has redshirt
3rd year-hopefully it all works itself out
Lol because that strategy worked SO well with Correnti and Mulligan all those years ago.

Would either consider dropping to 174?
I'm hoping we can convince O'Malley from Drexel to transfer here for 174. Turley sad to say, I'm not sure if he can regain the ability to be that AA wrestler he was before the injuries.

It’ll be nice giving Poz a couple years after Brooks graduates and a year removed from Starocci if he moves up.

Poz/Soldano are diff caliber of wrestlers from Correnti/Mulligan.. don’t think mulligan ever even wrestled a full season.. Correnti had a promising fresh season… forgot why he ended up transferring out

This. Poz is a phenomenal wrestler that has already achieved great things as a true frosh. He had a rougher second year but is still a friggen tank.

Soldano has already proven to beat (with style) NQs and had a close match w a top 8 guy.

Both are tough as hell. Both can win. Imo, Soldano has to keep it up (which I am sure he can).

But outside that, we have a great problem to figure out later on.

Agreed, not the same. And that's not to denigrate either of the aforementioned. Both wrestled tough here but didn't necessarily pan out.

Mulligan never really showed anything other then he was more interested in partying ...the other guy along with SG and Nic were more into smoking pot then wrestling ..anyone remember them all being suspended for that seasons first quad ...that's why !

Based on expectations at time of entering Rutgers, about 11 wrestlers underperformed and 5 outperformed.

Underperformed means did not AA when projected and outperformed means AA when not projected.

Aguilar, Aragona, Camp, Correnti, Gentile, Giraldo, Glasgow, Mason, Melde, White, and Winston

DelVecchio, Perrotti, Poz, Theobold, and Turley

How do these results compared with other top 20 teams?

By saying they were projected to AA what metric was used to determine that. Aguilar was #85 recruit and is still wrestling and taking bad losses. Glasgow was athletic and good in high school but didn't want to train or change his lifestyle. Your list is a little shaky

Aguilar was never expected to AA coming out of hs.. he overperformed fresh year n ppl started thinking he could be future AA.. Aragona yes.. but he quit after going Cambell so doubt he woulda been good anywhere else.. Camp couldn’t get it done at Ohio state so.. Correnti good fresh year then regressed.. didn’t do much at rider.. Gentile?? He barely wrestled.. Glasgow… we got the wrong bound brook kid..Mason.. never did any better at Minn.. looked best at RU.. 3rd seed but yeah..Winston injured/ r12.. ranked 2nd class recruit..

We had plenty of other guys that outperformed their hs proj just didn’t end up AA.. Russo, Gravina, JVB, there’s more that barely ranked coming out hs n became multiple time ncaa qualifiers..

This is a loaded question. Can you name anyone aside from I guess Cassar that Penn State brought in that reached AA status that wasn’t expected to? Probably not because almost everyone they bring in is a potential AA from the jump. Alternatively, their list of potential AA’s that didn’t reach that status is probably twice as long as ours, since they have the resources to move on from a “bust” a lot faster than we can. I don’t think this is something you can measure quantitatively and compare across programs.

Scott Goodale is more interested in smoking pot? Or is that Sean Gleeson? Too many SG's

On top of that do we throw out the accomplishments and development of Suriano and Ashnault because “they were suppose to win” or do we ignore guys that overachieved but didn’t reach AA status? The Van Brills never won a state title and both competed for years in the big 10. Lipari was a NQ. Richie Lewis wrestled pretty well. Jordan Pagano. There have been plenty of guys that have exceeded expectations.

Every school has misses....Not really sure how you measure and would not even include some that you put on the list as "RU's misses".

Cornell- these are top 100(not their weight ranking). There are many others but these were very high ones.

Grey-5th ranked
Marshall Pepplemen-4th ranked
Cisneros-9th ranked
Artigliere-22nd
Stroker-20th
