Only one of the two plays you are referring to was catchable for the defender and it would’ve taken a spectacular play despite the underthrow. That’s not by chance. A starting QB doesn’t avoid throwing picks in 11 of their last 15 games through “just luck”. During that span, he’s only thrown 1 single pick to a non-ranked team (Maryland). That stat matters when you have a very good defense.

Most of the passing game is closed when NV is back there.
They had Simon attempting throws we've never seen from NV. I thought they had him trying to many routes that we never throw to, which made me nervous.
To me, he is blocking the development of GW and ES by getting the 1st team practice reps.

I don’t know that Evan Simon will be on the team next year TBH unless we go with a pro style hire and recruit a full back. The spread really isn’t the right system for him. And if we decide to shift to pro style, that could mean Wimsatt leaves. I guess what I’m saying is with a deliberate system shift and new OC - the probability of them both staying goes down.
I think Wimsatt is going to play this season - he just won’t start for a while. He’s going to be eased in as was the original plan with set plays designed for him to build confidence and succeed. That is, and was, a very feasible plan to start the year with a veteran 6 year senior whose a reliable game manager and looking to be a coach after this year. There are plenty of games left to play. It’s unfortunate we didn’t have the NV / GW
1-2 punch to start the season but let’s see what we can do in the next 5 games. IMO only Michigan feels unwinnable. Of course, they are all losable too. No givens. Let’s see what we can do.

Excellent. I’m failing to see the panicked concern on here. Seems we have a great locker room arrangement. NV in his final year of eligibility poses no threat to Wimsatt’s career at RU. He was supposed to be the experienced role model / mentor. He has a clear path to stepping into the role next year. What is the need to rush that?
Finally, it’s now time for the training wheels to come off, just accept that the ride won’t be a smooth one early on and progress is not always a straight line.
